card will work great with the game. Make sure you have the ram to run that powerhouse cuz you could bottle neck the system. But im thinking if you invested hundreds of dollars in that card you probably already have 4 gigs of RAM (4 gigs is ideal).
Also, when you install it just get the latest drivers.
Just to give you a heads up, AoC has some small issues with the ATIs right now, but they are working on it
PS you have a 1000 watt PS right?

Use the 8.5 drivers. I've upgraded to these yesterday and the game has increased in frame rate by an average of 10 FPS. I was getting around 15-20 FPS in Tortage, and now I'm getting around 20-30 (depends, greater FPS around certain areas. I suspect it's related to particle effects, can't be too sure yet...). Also, if you experiment with anything older, avoid 7.12 or atleast the Omega Drivers version of the Catalyst 7.12 drivers as they've caused me regular BSOD.

Oddly, that tends to be true, but what happens if you choose to run the game at medium settings it won't use system memory to store any textures. In fact you can confirm this by going medium and looking at advanced settings in video. You'll see the option for system memory caching at 0%. It's interesting to notice this because other games like LOTRO will cache in system memory by default. I wonder why AoC doesn't... o_O

A 1000w PSU is overkill, you only need one of those if say you wanted to go CrossFrireX (four 3870's or two 3870X2's) or Tri SLi/Quad SLi. A 600w+ PSU is more than enough for the 3870X2...
Valid point but i picked the 1000watt to save on future upgrades i want this system to last me 3 years before i have to start upgrading.
I only really play MMO so i don't need to upgrade that often to play the next FPS.
My current PC which is an AMD 3400 2gigs of Ram x850 pro 256mb has lasted me 4 years and i am quite happy with that to be fair.

i dont really understand that much about pcs, i no i have corsair ddr3 ram at 1666mhz 2gig, and i run crysis on very high with 0 lag....only reason i can see to have more then 2gig is if you do massive number crunching operations
Not number crunching, but rather to keep a hold on the results of number crunching is the primary purpose for system memory. Back in days before even I was born, system memory was measured in the kilobits which very precious and programs were queued on magnetic tapes to be ran through. Needless to say, more RAM means you can have more space to keep the results of program results for which either that program or other programs can work upon it. It speeds up programs due to the fact that it's physically faster than any HDD, tape, or any other "long term" storage device to date. That's about to change in the next decade and a half, but for now we use RAM to give us the much needed non-cache memory we need (CPUs today have L1 and L2 caches, where L3 designates system memory and sometimes virtual paging of HDD devices (I don't remember if they go beyond L3 as a designation for virtual paging...)).
This is mostly about history than about practical information, mind you.
