its not worth buying the game at this point, it didn't live at all up to the hype. Your better off sticking to a mmo that you enjoy, this game is complete trash

thats your opinion
leveling is very casual friendly, but who knows at higher level, wow was supposed to be casual friendly, but once you hit 70 its grindfest, so it will probably be the same for AoC , who knows
If you liked oblivion, there's much to like about AoC. If you like questing, AoC is fun.
From a leveling perspective it's very casual friendly to level 40 (if your machine can support the game). There's no rush though as there's still bugs to contend with. But imo, the first 40 levels are very enjoyable.
I'm less satisfied with the content after level 40 (it' smuch less polised and more limited), but I do enjoy playing my class a lot. They really did make healers fun to play. Other mmo makers should make note of this. I believe class design is one of the major successes so far in AoC. Are they balanced? Probably not, but they made some smart decisions.
I think they made a huge mistake with the graphics. I understand not being able to run on a 5 year old machine, but people should be able to play the game at low settings with good framerates. This is not the case as there's a lot of memory leaks and some bad coding. Even limiting the zones to 48 or whatever the number is, isn't helping. I'm not playing on a 5 year old comp, and i have a good vid card (8800 GTS). I have 2 GB ram and dual core 2.8 GHz processor. I didn't expect to play the game at high settings. But the fps goes down too frequently. I can play the game, but it's not always smoothe. In the instances it's fine, it's these zones that slow down.
You should not have to have bought a new computer yesterday in order to play at consistent framerates at low settings. The high settings should be for people with new comps. the low settings should be for those with older machines. But their definition of old machine is maybe 1 year.

Troll, but yes this game is good for a casual. Just make sure you play on a PVE and not PVP server.
casual influance leads to instanced servers ---> rubbish!
Yea cause we all know that the MMO industry could survive solely on the hardcore players. Casuals do not make games. If most games are made for casual players then that should tell you who the majority of players are. I have yet to see an MMO ruined by casual players.
MMO Vet since AOL Neverwinter Nights circa 1992. My MMO beat up your MMO. =S
It's great for casual because it doesn't feel like a grind. It's pretty fast paced and so far theres been fresh new things to explore every level ive played. I just hope it doesnt start to run thin at 40, but no dissapointment so far. Leveling up is a smooth process, defintely fun.

amen to that ... its amazing what this genre was like before the "I can only play for 5 minutes a day but i expect to be as uber as those that put in 40 hours a week" jackasses
AoC's one of the most casual friendly MMOs I've played in awhile.
Not just for solo play, but there's a smaller than usual rift in being able to do things with groups as well. I attribute this to the ease of moving between cultural hubs and areas, and the lack of necessitated faction grinding opening up quests and areas.

Well, unfortunately, most of us still want to have a good time regardless of how much effort we put into it. The industry couldn't survice catering to the tiny hard-core crowd who favor punishing/lengthy grinds versus quality play time.
I loved WoW in the beginning because no matter how long I played, I made some progress. Not as much as those who dedicate their lives to the game, but enough to keep me satisfied while leveling.
Sorry there isn't enough content to keep the hard-core power levelers satisfied when games aren't designed for that tiny crowd anymore.
Isn't end-game supposed to be primarily PvE raiding? And the Border Kingdoms instance seems to be something only the most hardcore guilds can grind enough materials to build forts and so forth? To me this sounds like end-game caters almost exclusively to the hardcore playerbase, although soloing up until then seems very possible, if you don't mind grinding a lot around midway when you run out of quests. Or have I misunderstood something, and they're also putting in casual content?
If I play no more than 5-10 hours a week, is it possible to still be competitive in PvP, guild wars, and just the general game? Thanks.
I am playing casual and i think it very much suitable to that playstyle. I am not sure if that is still true at level 80 - i.e. if you actually can still be part of the 'end game" while being casual but i am sure we will know in a few weeks.

Well end game is what matters to all style of players. No good end game makes the rest of the game pointless. Being fun up to max level is important too but keeping people playing after they reach max level is really important for MMOs. Its a MMO so alot end game content should be group to raid oriented.

If people were like you, then the humanity would of died out. Spending more time by your computer then in the outside world hurts you, your family, your friends and everyone around you (except the game developers you are paying subscription to).
I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.

Id give it a couple months before buying.
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.
casuals ruin mmos -_- sad but true !

Not really sutiable for casualization but that just depends on what you're looking for in the game.
This is not a game.
Masterpain55. Saying "AoC sucks because it sucks, and it doesn't live up to expectations because it sucks and whoever plays it sucks" is not a review.
At least be less obvious. Even your signature shows your a fanboi troll, 400+ hours WoW and flaming Age of Conan without any solid arguments.
you made me lol so hard I wtf'd.

Leveling:
You can solo / casual group almost everything.
Endgame:
- 24 man instance raiding
or
- guild-based siege PvP with player limits (48v48) and limited number of keep nodes/ time slots
Make your own conclusion. It seems pretty obvious to me... and familiar I must say.

i play around 10 hours a week and i am married ,kids work etc
I enjoy my slow pace it will take me months till i hit lvl 80 but i dont have any problems with that
Most important is I enjoy planning it and you might also Give it a try
