Combat System Rocks! You need to understand it to enjoy this game!

The longer I play this, the more I love this game! I play a Necro and I can mitigate soooo much damage with dodge, blocks, etc... and dodge forward and actually do damage to finish mobs off in melee... you can even dodge spells if you time it right... fireballs don't have heatseeking warheads like they do in WoW LOL! I really believe someone who understands the combat system will dominate any other person who doesn't regardless of balance! You balance by learning to play it! You really need to spend time learning the combat system if you want to PvP in this game!
The only thing I am still trying to understand is the shielding. It is a bit much to attack, dodge, and shield. But I think eventually I will understand it and it will be even that much better! I wasn't too sure about this game until about 6 hours played!
Get over the zoning people and have some fun!

I couldn't agree more. Not only that but you can also create purpose built weak spots in npc's - so if you're skilled enough you can deliberatly make them weaken themselves and use different combos to keep those weaknesses open. A very diverse and entertaining combat system i have yet to see. Don't just press the buttons - get involved.

I am still oohing and ahhing over the fatalities! For the first time, I really feel like a badass in an MMORPG without having a high level!
Dang... I didn't think about it that way... but you are right! I enjoy this guy at LvL 24 more than I do my S1-3 Hunter or my S2-3 Druid!
You're right, this is the sort of game you feel the blood pumping at any given time or rank. It reminds me alot of Assassin's Creed, which I played over a friends house today for the first time and got pumped on that as I do at Conan so far.

Agreed. The people that can't enjoy the game are people like Keen and Graev, coz they dunno how to use the combat system properly.
I agree totally with the OP...the game just gets better as you go along and get used to the combat...it is a brilliant innovative concept
This combat is the most satisfying combat i ever experienced...i thought LOTR was pretty good...this just took top spot
This combat is so sick, so wicked, so gruesome that it is pure Conan!!! I love this game! The maps have to seen to be believed, and im just talking starting zone!!!
It's truly magnificent, this game hands down is GAME OF THE YEAR no question and BEST mmo of all time in my serious quite experienced at online games opinion. I have played em all
The servers are jammed packed and word is getting out...THIS GAME IS GOLDEN
The Volcano quest in noobie zone was probably best quest i ever been on in an mmo game. My single nvidia 7800 vid card runs this game flawlessly at 25fps....yea that's a low frame rate and sometimes it dips to 12fps in town but the game is very very playable at those frame rates.
I would like to get a 9800 video card and i will but this games combat system is totally outrageous over the top...the Fatalities are just stunning, its beautiful!
It's true , the combat gives you a feeling of total bad arse like Conan was in the movie. You really feel like you playing the part
Lastly, this combat system is ideal, perfectly set up for a Monk class, a pure martial arts class, i would love to see fatalities in hand to hand combat
