Aoc has driven me to try VG again

After the bad experience in Age of Conan, Im ready to give VG a try again. Unfortunately I tossed the cd's in the trash. I only played the game 2 days from launch and it was totally unplayable with the bugs and lag.

Is there a free trial available ? Do I have to buy the game again ? Some games like EVE I bought once and can forever just download the game.

Some advice on server and class would be appreciated. I prefer casters with heavy nuke damage and ability to solo anything and everything. Definitely dont like pet / caster types. Healers are out as are tanks. I do sometimes play rogueish types if theyre really fun and powerful. Server clearly needs the highest population so Im not stuck looking for the occasional group and its nice to have folks to chat with.

After Conan, Im itching for a seamless open world with more of a sandbox approach. Hopefully VG will fit that need.

As mentioned in another post, Seradon is fairly active. Unfortunately, with AoC release, a lot of peeps are giving it a swing.

As far as a free trial, not at this time. The developers are working on a "Trial Island" for 3 reasons. 1st: To support a free trial without hindering server resources. 2nd: An attempt to all but eliminate gold spammers and sellers that use key code generators for spam purposes. 3rd: They are considering using as a start point for all classes. Something similiar to EQ2 I imagine.

My main is a Sorcerer, max level and raiding in Ancient Port Warehouse. The Sorcerer is a pure DPS class with nothing much to offer a group other than some resist buffs. At the moment, I have seen Druids produce a bit more damage at max levels and they do have an elemental pet (similiar to Mages in EQ1) and a very small heal capabilty. Psionists are awesome for their energy buffs and their charm capabilities. Necromancers the last caster type with having 3 different types of pets that are equipable with drops from mobs (called graphs) and various buffs and debuffs.

The game has a group finding tool which works well, just not sure how much it is used as I am in an active guild with allies as well.

If you still remember you station account log in, you should be able to just download it and re-sub. If you do a buddy key and like it, you are going to need to re-purchase it which is kind of a waste since you already paid out for it. Ebay has collectors editions for under 10 bucks.

If you don't have your account info, your pretty much starting from scratch which in your case since you only played 2 days, so no real loss.

The exact thing happened to me. I tried Vanguard a few days before AoC came out then I tried AoC and it was so bad that I am currently patching/installing Vanguard again. I really hate the instancing and the artistic style is horrible. I miss Vanguard and it actually ran great on my computer while AoC ran like crap.

I'm pretty sure Seradon is the most populated server based on what I've read other places.

This is funny, I'm also looking to possibly try VG again after I left it 2-3 months after launch all because of AoC. I can't believe the makers of AO, a game that has the largest character variety and customization I've ever seen in a game made the most bland MMO i've played. The character customization is so little, it comes close to Guild wars, but at least GW had interesting armor/weapons. AoC armor is very dull AoC is a game where you RP a warrior/mage begger . Theres level 40+ people that have gear from level 10-20 still on even.

Still haven't made up my mind if I'll give VG another shot. Main factor for me ATM is if it will run on my laptop XPS1330 (C2D 2Ghz. 2GB ram, 8400M GS). I know it runs fine on my gaming machine at home, but i need entertainment at work

i think with all the performance increases that laptop should run it.

I used to run VG on my main comp and a pentium 4 2.8 on a ati radeon 9600 with 1.5gb ram before the khal revamp so the laptop should breeze it.

I started downloading vanguard last night...and today at night ill start playing it...i cant play aoc..instancing, loadings, samll world man..what a mess...

Theres 4 servers to choose from right?one of them pvp...or theres servers in EU also?
