Require Credit Card?

Luke321Luke321 Member UncommonPosts: 10

Hio. I was wondering if AOC required a credit card entered/time card entered to play. Do I need to either enter a credit card or time card to start playing or can I just pop it in and play my first free month or w/e.

please help?

  • Luke321Luke321 Member UncommonPosts: 10

does anyone have any substantial proof? and also will there be time cards for sale tomorrow?

  • hbktimf24hbktimf24 Member UncommonPosts: 131

To activate and upgrade your account to the retail version they make you put in a form of payment, and gamestops will have their timecards on tues or weds, if you cant find one go to walmart, meijer or anywhere and buy a prepaid credit card, its like a gift card except you can use it anywhere that accepts visa

If you are not old enough to own a CC, you should not be playing this game.

Everyone 17+ that lives in the real world has one, yes.

The people with no jobs, or horribly in debt, should not be playing MMO's.  My statement stands.

Well, even if you are 17, to ask this question speaks volumes of your experience in the MMO side of gaming. Maybe you should try something a little less hard core and always free. Try Guild Wars.

Stop being ignorant and try to be helpful. If you do not have something to add than you shouldn't post as you aren't mature enough to play this game. I am 21 and do not own a credit card because I do not need one and prefer to pay things with cash. On the flip side I can easily call my parents and ask them if I can use their credit card to play the game and front them the money for it.

Yes a credit card is required if you do not wish to use prepaid cards or other payment plans they have listed on their site.

Just get a debit card from a bank just by getting a checking account with them. Make sure the debit card is from a major cred company though. Smart people get debit cards anyway, that way you dont accidently put yourself in debt and should be making enough money that you shouldnt need a credit card in the first place

Your a jackass. Im 27 and I dont have a credit card. Mostly I dont like credit cards or dealing with some of the BS that can go with having one. Most of my friends are my age and only a few of them have a credit card of some type. not EVERYONE has one or wants one. Your statement is flawed and full of it.

I obviously had something to add, or I wouldn't have posted.  I'm not sure exactly where you intended to go with this?

Anyway, if you are 21 and do not own a credit card, I'd emplore you to get one as soon as possible.  And then start making small purchases on it, paying it off each month.  So many things in this country require a good credit score for you to just ignore it.  There was a time, when it was feasable and entirely common to pay for a major purchase entirely in cash.  But those days are long gone.

Debit cards do the same thing, and you can build your credit ratings in alot of other ways too =)

Actually,  credit cards are for financially illiterate people... and that would be most people unfortunately.  I have a dang good job, a large bank account, and absolutely ZERO debt.  So your statement if false.

And probably a credit score in the high 400's or low 500's?  Maybe even 0 if you have no credit history?

Actually thinking about it, if you have had no credit experience at all, you'd be hardpressed to find anyone to let you sign for anything.  No credit is worse than bad credit

Debit cards aren't the same thing, Debit card actually do absolutely nothing to your credit as they pull from a checking account.  And yes there are easier and faster ways to build credit, but most of them are also illegal.  ;D

And again...  your plan for building credit with a CC is horrible advice.  To any young people out there thinking of getting a CC to build credit... DON'T DO IT!  Trust me,  don't fall into that trap.  Everybody's CC debt nightmare stories start off the same... "I starting making small purchases and paying it off each month"....  It doesn't work!  There are other ways.  If you don't own a CC then the best advice I can give you is learn to live without on.

Sorry for going off-topic but I saw an opportunity to do my good deed for the day.  :P  My work here is done.

Nrf, it's frustrating that so many people cry doom for CC's.  It's only a trap if you let it be, I've owned two CC's for 7 years, and have never once had to pay interest.  On the flip side my credit is very high, after paying off a car loan in full, and having two credit cards (one business, one personal).

I think I might agree though, that credit cards aren't for the financially irresponsible.  Only get one if you know you can handle one.

Ok,  last reply to you as you are clearly ignorant when it comes to finances.  My credit score is over 700.  I don't own a single credit card.  I didn't say I have never been in debt.  I am just no longer in debt.  My house, my car, my everything is paid for.  All done without a credit card.  Don't bother replying as it is clear you have no idea what you are talking about.  I could explain it to you but there is no doubt my words would be falling on deaf ears.  This isn't the place to talk about it anyway.

Could you please give your reasons? I'm 17, turning 18 in two months, and I need to know the arguments against a credit card, preferably coming from someone with experience like you. I don't trust reading about this in any mainstream economics and finances magz as most of them are paid for by banks and special interests wanting you to get into debt anyway.
