AoC is so barbaric it is frightening

I am at lvl 22 now and on the mainland and let me tell you the savagery and butchery of this game is unprecedented in any game i have ever seen
Obviously the title and rating of this game tells you that...but for those who are not familiar with Conan...you are in for a shock
This game is over the top MEDIEVAL...the developers really went outta there way to make it look and feel just like the Conan lore. It's shockingly brutal, just in your face savagery on a scale i have never seen in all my years of PC gaming
I think it is the combination of the wicked, sick blood curdling combat and sound that makes you gasp...wow!
Mature rating does no justice to what awaits you inside this game. Prepare yourself for a new level of savagery when you play this game past the noob zone in Tortage
Man, i'm sweating...i really don't have words to describe it...it is just very well done. So immersive with the sound and graphics and combat, the way the maps are drawn, incredible
The terrain is exceptionally well done, i have never seen terrain like that in a PC game, and i thought LOTR, and Oblivion and Vanguard terrain was well done.....AoC makes environment of LOTR look like world of warcraft!!!
Prepare to be blown away people if you get past the starting zone and venture to the mainland... i am talking only of Cimarria the homeland of Conan where my Barbarian got sent to, only place i have been so far....it is shockingly barabaric as it is supposed to be but I just was not prepared for it
The starting zone does no justice to the main game...i am just blown away. Trust me, the savagery gets worse

Yeah finally though an mmo with some violence, i really love the "fatalities and the blood splatters on the screen.
Best action mmo so far, im only low level but atm am loving it.
you get a couple more fatalities the higher level you get, atleast i did. No other game compares to this one as far as "mature" content goes.

once i got 3 in a row with my bear shaman at level 10
suprising fatalities i not restricted with people even animals
quite a few crocodiles fell that way . the blood all spilled over the area . AOC at its best
The gore is well done. Get a fatality with an arrow combo and watch the blood spurt out as your enemy eventually keels over.
Decapitations need more blood imo, but then I'm not an expert in such things :P

i like how the fatalities arent just fluff, either.get them on my dark templar, and a huge healing effect procs. on my demonoligst, and a huge blue ice demon rises to follow me.

Its kind of sickenening actually. I guess this is what video games have come to. Instead of making a deep , well done game, you just make it as sick and and as gorely as possible.
Yea they have made this game as true to Conan lore as possible, it is very well done the gore and dog eat dog world that you are in...it is so well done that you really believe you are in the Conan universe
Is it any wonder the servers are all at capacity...word is spreading fast...this is hands down the best MMO ever made

I have to agree the word is spreading fast, adding 9 more servers already and it just keeps growing and growing. I am very pleased with the game play in this game. It has exceeding my expectations and they definitely raised the bar in my opinion.
Not my cup of tea, but variety is good. I'm glad the censors didn't get their way and adults can make their choice of whether they want to see it or not.
I guess you never played Mortal Kombat back in 1992? People ripping their opponents spines out of their bodies or turning them into ice and smashing the body. Now that was pretty savage and brutal for it's time! I definitely do not share the same reaction as the OP.

However, the violence in the game is not overdone. For me as a lore player the situation in Tortage is pretty fukked up. A voodoo chick is cooking something up in the mountains, the pirates cant leave the harbor and are drunken all the time. I barely survived a sinking ship and i cant leave to my homeland because the harbor is blocked. I am pissed and have to hurt a few guys if i want to leave by boat. It has to splatter a bit if i smack someone with a cutlass.
For a mature person this is a nicely done mature game
I read a lot of Conan books but I found very little of that "Conan" spirit in the game. Maybe because Conan was a loner, a thief, a robber more often then someone would try and liberate villages. He does that too, but usually his main motivations are gold and girls.
I think AoC would be a lot closer to Conan lore if it were done The Witcher style.
I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.
