These offers are here for people who actually are wanting to try before they buy. It's not meant to give you 14 free days of play then you cancel the account and move onto the next free trial offer in the world.

    Children need not apply.

What if they dont like the game? I mean this is what trial is for - deciding if the game is good for you

btw... as a rule I find MMORPG's without trial offers as BAD

Anyone try to use this to re-activate an old account?  I couldn't figure out how to do that...I would really prefer to go back into a world with a character I spent months on then start over.

  • ValorusValorus Member Posts: 235

If you have a credit card don't be afraid to enter it. Funcom is not a group of gangsters looking to rip you off. I started playing AO when it first came out and after Shadowlands came out stopped playing due to it being so crowded in the new expansion areas.  I entered the trial to see if the crowds had abated a bit and then canceled the trial. No money was ever charged.

Funcom getting credit card info up front only makes sence from a business standpoint so, if entering payment info before you play makes you worried then perhaps you don't have the best of intentions in the first place. Like I said in my first post its to give you a chance to see and play the game first hand before you shell out the cash - not to have a goodtime for 14 days and run away to the next free trial.

If you already have an account and wanna keep using it all you gotta do is goto Funcom's website and re-activate your old account. It doesn't matter if you install the game from your CDs or if you install the downloaded version.

If you haven't tried AO give it a shot. It's actually really cool.

Wonder if someone can help me with this:

I just downloaded the 14 day AO trial that MMORPG.com announced. After finishing the download, I tried running the .exe to install the game but when I click to run it the hourglass appears for half a second and then nothing happens. So basically I can't install the game to try it out. Does anyone have any solutions?

  • ValorusValorus Member Posts: 235

I've had similar things happen with doing game installs. Usually I just delete em and try to download again. I know it's a big grab, but might fix the problem. Maybe try getting it from a different location.

I once downloaded Shadowbane (please feel free to flame me for even trying this game) using that Gigex system. I downloaded, installed and crashed. Each time. Finally deleted it and got it from another gamin site and it worked great - or at least the install did.

Last suggestion I might make - do you meet the minimum system requirements to run the game?

I have read about this game for a while and downloaded the trial.

But i am leaving for 2 months in a week and i would like to know how long this MMORPG.COM offer stands ?

  • AdminAdmin Administrator RarePosts: 5,623
I think it will be running for 2-3 months...but I can't guarantee it.  We basically have 30,000 keys to give away and when they are gone that might be the end of it unless FunCom wants to do more image

Ok, thank you for the fast reply :)

I got this trial, and it gave me 7 days not 14 and i wanted to continue the trial it was going to charge me 30 dollars PLUS the monthly price! Thats not was promised and that is BS cause I would have continued playing if it didnt try to charge me for the game! If you can tell me why it did that email me at TraptDezirez@hotmail.com cause I LOVE AO and I still wanna play!! *cries*

You will need to contact FunCom on this one...we can't support the game or the trial (other than making sure you get your key).

Make sure you give them the key that you got from our site so that they can look into it.  I know that many other members have used the trial for the 14 days without a hitch.

I am also having the very same problem with the billing stuff.. i started playing the Ao trial last saturday (2/9 -04), but in the Account options and under schedueled billings it says i have to pay 29.95 bucks for the game on saturday (9/9 -04) !! but i thought the software was free?? and i thought the trial lasted 7 days?? i even tried messaging funcom, but ive heard no reply.. Any1 got an idea?

  • AdminAdmin Administrator RarePosts: 5,623

Just checking...but did you get the CD Key for the game from our site?  Note that the normal AO trial is only 7 days and you have to pay for the software.  You should only get the 14 day / free software offer if you get your trial key from our site...

Keep in mind that the software is not free. If you like the game and wanna keep playing it you will have to purchase it.

Its free for the first 14 days so you can try it out unless mmorpg has some super duper deal where Funcom waives the game price alltogether - but I don't think thats the case.

  • AdminAdmin Administrator RarePosts: 5,623

That is correct, we DO have a super-duper deal that the software is 100% free.  That is why everyone should take this offer image  See: http://www.mmorpg.com/ao_trial.cfm

There has never been an offer like this and it is the only time FunCom as ever offered the original game/notum wars/shadowlands 100% free of charge.

Oh heck yeah! Thats totally awesome and I agree, if you have not tried Anarchy Online it is worth the test run - and with free software to boot you can't loose.
