Still its WoW!.... Even if its laggy during primetime hours it wont be laggy all the time.... and I usually play late night 8pm-8am est time anyways so it probabaly wont be that bad....Maybe during peak times but I doubt it will be laggy 24/7

Actually it's not 16 bucks. They are trying to pull you into a three month package. You can register for a month of FP service and pay 6 or 7 bucks (can't remember the exact amount) and still get the download and key for the stress test. Thats what I just did

Yes, this was kind of lame for blizzard to bargain with fileplanet and create a rediculous method of allowing people into the game for only 7 days. Lots of us are saying, How lame.. I have to be a FilePlanet subscriber.. How crap...However true this may be, you have to think about exactly what is going on.
The file Blizzard gave Fileplanet is 2 gigs... Thats a crap load of server usage for fileplanet to be throwing out. So letting the Fileplanet subscribers to get dibs first only makes sense, specially for the people who have been paying fileplanet since day 1.
I am currently downloading the beta client right now and its at 13% with 6 hours to go.. I have cable modem as well. So thats a lot of time im spending on the server just to download a file/game client.
A lot of people are saying, its not worth it cause of server overloading and lag and what not. I suppose no one really knows the true answer to that question as of right now because it hasnt happened yet, But for the sake of generalization, we can probably take a pretty good estimate. While you may consider passing for 7 days on this oppertunity ( wether your a subscriber or NOT ) you still have to ask yourself the simple question.. How long have I been waiting for WOW? 4 months?....3 years?.... 15 days?.... No matter what you might say, we know you want it! Hell, you gotta have it. In fact, you know your going to go crazy, if you dont get in... Maybe the risk of server lag is worth 7 days of WORLD OF WARCRAFT... But thats just me

Im downloading at the moment to see the stress test. I have a 3 year signup with FP. I dont see why people hate them?? They have to pay for hosting all that space.

Well said Storpappa. This is all a big sell out scam. If they wanted to see how much a server can hold, they could have created a new server and told all their existing beta testers to logon and play on it and then they could see how many gamers it takes before the server blue screens and crashes.
As for bandwidth, the fileplanet free servers already have a queue/limit of how many can be downloading at any time, they have paid for the bandwidth regardless, so it dont matter if the servers are sending to 250 folks some new version of solitaire or WoW beta. If bandwidth was the big issue they could have easily distributed via bittorrent like blizzard has done. But ofcourse, this is all a big "lets sucker people into paying to beta test this game" kind of scam, and I for one am VERY dissapointed in blizzard.

Well said, I can't believe people would abandon a game over this....sometimes it's the hardest thing to do, but just stay calm and walk away. It's only a stress test for one week....it's their loss or gain (Depending on their view) if they want to pay for it....everyone here at least is trying to stay calm from what I can tell...this too shall pass.

Seriously no one is trying the scam you, it state very clearly on the fileplanet's main page that the test is only for a week and you don't need to be a member to enter. It just say that member are guaranteed a spot. Also it membership is only $6.95 per month which isn't even require so I don't know why fileplanet is trying to sucker people.

I have been a FP subscriber for a while now, and I love it, I am able to download ALOT more than just the wow stress test client and get priority into it... which i did get. Now if you'll check the top of the screen to see just how many people are subscribed to FP it's a little over 24 million... you do the math. I don't think they have to "scam" anyone. Anyone knows a stress test doesnt last that long anyway, and just look at the FAQ that has a big link on the front page too, it'll tell you everything you need to know about this promotion for WOW.
The bottom line is, blizzard saw FP as the best way to get 100k people to participate and get a fast response. Probably get some people who would not play WOW otherwise (people like me).
BTW I get really fast download speeds from FP when im downloading ANYTHING, that's why i subscribe, and if money is tight and i can't afford the subscription for a month, it's a really simple process to cancel it and pick it back up whenever you want.
Bottom line, FP is not scamming anyone. FP offers ALOT more than just this WOW stress test.
