thinking of trying aoc. but..

Been thinking of a change for some time and try AOC, but maybe not..

- Community appears to be full of immature kids, ex wow players? (judjing by the amt of hate posts in this forum alone, flaming). Never played WoW for this reason

- Reading these forums suggests the game offers nothing greatly different from other mmo's out there, where everything is an instance. Can anyone suggest anything actually groundbreaking for AoC? prettied up graphics mean nothing. A helpful community does.

Wasnt this an 18+ game only?

This game is screaming "Kid and Casual-pleaser".

Heavy focus on the graphics and lots of PR. I'm very glad I didn't buy it, was very close to doing just that.

Its a nice game...but its no mmo..want an mmo look elswere...

MMORPG---first m for massive. massive world, massive amout of people in the same world etc..

aoc is massive, massive loadings every zone and every house /door, massive instancing in the zones..not like wow, wow has instancing in dungeons..aoc has everywere, multiple copies of the same zone, massive paths to folow no freedom at all.

The world looks great because of the graphics..and looks big..but its not..you see alot but you cant go everyplace you see...some people dont bother about these problems but some think is gamebreaking..best way is for you to play ..play till at least 40-50 and see if the concept of the game its important fo you or not...

That's the problem right there: You're trying to get a consensus on a game from a message board. That never ends well.

Because of human nature, you're always going to have more negative than positive posts on forums. It's an unfortunate fact, like trying to get your views on women by hanging around a bunch of drunk old men.

If you're not sure right now, then it won't hurt you to wait until the end of this week, when full reviews will likely start coming out and can give you a more professional viewpoint on the pros and cons.

Also: Anyone who tries to tell you about the quality of the community during the free month play period is kidding themselves -- right now we can't make that sort of judgment.

The game isn't just graphics. The combat system is uniquely different and one of the best that I have EVER seen in any MMO to date! It has full interactive gameplay. You get abilities where you can literal chop heads off and stab your opponents . I will be playing this game for a long long time to come. The animations are undoubtedly outstanding. The quest system is intereactive where the NPCs actually talk to you and you have a choice of what to say to them. KInd of like in KOTOR. Most MMOs don't have an original RPG feel, where as this one does.

Lvling isn't slow and dragged out like it is in most MMOs. It can be fast at times. I like it though. I like to play mulitple classes. That is what makes it so good for some of us who do like to play other characters.

Every 3 days or so, they open 9 more servers which gives me a hunch that this could possibly be a potential WoW killer. If not then it will dent WoW's population greatly if they are not already doing so. I am not a WoW hater; WoW is a great game, but if your looking for something else, GET THIS GAME!

The fact they have no trial it's already a way to make you get the game is a total crap. Only kids care about some nice screens. Feel sad the best games have a graphic really bad.

I've played quite a few mmos in my time and I would say that AoC is pretty interesting, it isnt perfect but it offers new combat system which I happen to enjoy a lot (playing an assasin).

As far as community goes its really not that bad, kids have been around in all mmos and most of the times its grownups acting like clowns, my only suggestion to that is to find your self a guild with some decent folks, guilds tend to separate the idiots from the decent folk.

The atmosphere of the game is pretty fun, the graphics are really nice and overall the game isnt very very buggy like some had expected it to be, there are a few bugs but thats understanding of MMOs, after all the game came out last week.

So far the quests have been a lot of fun for me (this is a quest driven game) they have a meaning, they follow lore and dont feel repetitive but give a unique feeling. The main reason I quit LOTR is because the quests were very poorly designed and it was the same quests in every zone. In AoC there are a lot of different kinds of quests unique in their own ways.
