Population increase?

I'm seeing a small, but significant number of people on these boards who seem to be dissatisfied with Age of Conan and are saying they're going to give Vanguard a try.

Has anyone noticed an influx of new or returning players or is it all just hot air?

Im still patching gonna start tonight on the pvp server..even if its empty..

Updated my pc for aoc..but because aoc is a pile of poo ill try vanguard..april last year i tryed to play but my pc wasnt strong..now it is...

Vanguard has all the basics to be the best mmo..i really would love them to relaunch with bugs fixed and performance fix..i think its better for what i read..and end game contend...

Make some siege battles and pvp stuff and vanguard=win

I dont see a game like vanguard..no loadings, huge world, imba graphics etc coming out anytime soon...only some poo like aoc..full of loadings, instancing, small zones, linear stuff...man M for Massive stands for Mini multiplayer online rpg in aoc...

You might want to switch those words around.

I like Vanguard and I have a few characters on Seradon.

I beta tested the game and was displeased with it initially, but I think it's come a long way. On top of this many people have upgraded computers now.

I can't comment on the PvP server though.

It appears to me that the population (at least of Seradon) has picked up recently.  I know people are saying Sartok suffered from the release of AoC (to be expected as AoC is PVP-centric while Vanguard is very much a PVE game).

My wife and I have played several characters to 15-20 over the last few weeks and I have yet to have trouble finding people to adventure/explore/tackle dungeons with.

There is definitely a overall population increase on Seradon.  Primarily from brand new players, but also some returning players in the past couple of weeks.  However, some of the folks that are max'd at 50 and have been playing for over a year have been pretty inactive lately... waiting for more content for the most part I believe.

The guild I am in has seen several new invites. Mostly ppl returning to give the game a second chance, but they seem to be quite satisfied with the quality of the game and the huge improvements that have been made. On the flip side, we have also seen a few ppl not present over the last week to try AoC. But most of them are subscribers to multiple games at once and have clearly stated to us they have no intention of leaving VG, but possibly canceling some of their older subscriptions, as they enjoy trying all the new games for the sake of curiosity.

    Good luck!!

Im a new player and though have read many a post commenting on a low population, i personally have seen plenty of equal level folks about.  It did sway me to choose seradon though over the other server, kinda wish I had just gone to the pvp server though, but Ive heard theyve (SOE) has been offering free moves from the pvp server which threw me from choosing it. With that said-Ive got a buddy key that Ill send to you Lartza-be happy to.

I meet new players all the time on low levels.

But in my guild, not so much. Sure, some new players. But most of us are playing AoC... you only see these guys when we raid.

I did just that; came back.  I have to have freedom in gaming and Vanguard seems to be the closest thing to ol' EQ in a modern MMO.

Hope Vanguard didn't get too WOW-ified while I was gone.  Will see.

A better question is if someone does come back, what's the chance of getting updates with the population as low as it is?  I would hate to play an MMO I knew there wouldn't be any content updates for.

I assure you there has been no lack of content updates. Since late fall of '07, about every 2-3 months there has been some significant addition to content and/or improvement to performance. In my opinion performance has become less of an issue other than putting out the little fires (bugs) that are a result of newly implemented additions to the game (nothing I haven't seen in most other games). Try Seradon, I play on that server and have seen no lack of population.

Good luck and hope ya give a try.
