AOC is one of the most shallow games to be released as MMO game ever.  And the few parts that make it abit deeper and challenging are broken....

the Force is weak with this one...

Shallow? Explain that one, lol.   The game is a week old and has a strong fan base even here, where we all know the trolls live.   AA's werent available when EQ1 launched but now the are a very important part of the game.   A  list of up coming additions, ie. traders.. and fixing one spell for one class (Spellweaving -- ToS class) is hardly a big issue, even with the ToS peeps I have talked to in game.   I havent even started crafting yet, but I know there are like 8 different types of crafts, I have been to LP and seen trainers.  You have player cities and food/drink buffs and mail system and a decent storyline.

Just wondering which game are you comparing AoC to that makes it appear shallow.  I guess a better question is when are you going to actually play the game, ROFL!! because you obviously havent yet.

PS.  Get off the island, 10-15 hours of play time at most for me, then post about content and features.   That is the least you can be after a $50 investment in the game P.   This is MHO.

The "this game is awesome" -this "game sucks" stuff happens for every new game.  Usual fanbois, trolls and haters all scurrying about looking to post.  The true measure of a games "success" is how it fares 2, 6 and 12 months out.

Tabula Rasa, POTBS released with good buzz, plenty of fanbois and plenty of "Wait and see" type stuff.  Both by every measure are total failures.

EVE released with no buzz and by every measure its a wild success!

You can spin, you can market, you can work the reviewers but if in the end your game sucks the market will tell you that with cancelled subscriptions.

AOC imho does not advance the genre.  There is nothing in AOC that is "better" than what came before.  Its "fine" i reckon but i think in the near term it will be just another release, just another game on a long list of "decent" MMO's.  To those that enjoy it-GREAT! to those that bought it and hate it-GREAT! we'll welcome you back to lotro/wow/eq2 etc.  To those that dont care-GREAT! there are many other games coming.

For me AOC is a bust.  The instancing kills it.  The lack of innovation kills it.  The fundamental problem is "good enough" just isnt good enough.  New releases are competing with quality old releases-it must be BETTER, it must be innovative, it must be different!  If its not-its difficult to justify a switch from quality titles like eve, lotro, wow, eq2 etc.

Huh, what? Nothing's been scrapped - wth are you talking about?

    You serious?

You're promoting Darkfall, and tauting the 100 page list of features they claim to have fully implimented, yet no one alive on the planet has ever seen the game nor played it. Is that what you are saying? LOL!

Until someone actually gets a chance to either play a working build of Darkfall OR a major game review site is invited to check it out, there is NOTHING to discuss.

We can all come up with an "endless" list of features we'd like to see in an MMO, but that does NOT make an MMO reality.

There are actually people who have played it and written about it. If you actually care, search it.

For all its flaws, AoC is released. Compare it with Darkfall is like comparing a living human with a ghost. Some will say it doesn't exist. Most will say that no comparison is possible. A selected few believe in ghosts.

I really really like the game, and I would appreciate it if you didnt tell me otherwise, K? thanks good bye.

Correction, a game has been released. That game which Failcom promised, or even half of it, is NOT released. No siege, no trading, no dx10... all those core features are missing, they don't exist until proven otherwise.

You're so foaming at the mouth troll, you forgot to write even the title correctly! So no, there is no where you can tell me I told you so, because you didn't tell me sh*t. The game is great so far, the ratings tend to agree with that sentiment.

Some core features aren't there yet, and maybe they won't be. The game is still here, and not in the ether of promise that is Darkfall. Your use of "Failcom" just cements your juvenile mentality and makes me resent the fact that I've now just wasted 2 minutes of my life responding to your tirade.

Yes FC's master plan was to waste 5 years of making AOC just so that people rush to buy the game then once everyone bought it they would just let it die. It is truely amazing what people can conjure up and post about a game. Can't think of a game that didn't have issues at launch so crying about some issues when the game is barely a week old is pointless.

Oh now aren't we a witty little one?  Who are you to tell the people that these items don't exist?  I will believe "Failcom" over your opinions any day whether they are lying about it or not.

Sadly until game design is out of the hands of the business men, and back into the hands of the gamers, artists, and creative thinkers.. well it's just not gonna happen.
Honestly the industry is in its own death keel, brought down by its own greed and need for instant gratification...
Companies are no longer interested in those 2 3 4 and 5 year dedicated fans.. all they care about is initial box sales, why make a game that will last 10 years when instead you can make 10 games a year?
Honestly atm the only game on the horizon even remotely innovative is Aion and its still VERY capable of turning sour as well.
Personally Im starting to think its time to put down the mice, pick back up our footballs, baseballs, frisbees, and all those other toys we had back before gaming came into our lives and made us all online crack addicts.
Anyway to those still enjoying AoC great hope you get your $60 worth, to those who lost $60 and got nothing for it.. oh well maybe next time.

Wow man your so lost and full of.. sorrow, i don't even know where to start. AoC ROCKS!

Sorry your so jaded that you can't be happy unless you have something to complain about.

Aion being innovative??! Well at least we know where your taste run, and really you probably don't understand most of the gamers playing so stow the patronism

Out $60 dollars!? Where in the heck did you buy it.? It cost 49.99 at best buy or 39.99 at circit city. A fool and his money are soon parted but hey AoC is the bomb! Do go play football or something bubye!

BTW the only reason I'm posting here instead of playing is because the servers are down for a patch

Look at the preview of Eurogamer.
Conan can not be considered a MMORPG. Open seamless worlds to explore? Just how many people you SEE in a copy of each zone? (30, 40?).
Reducing the number of players allowed in one copy of the world was the only solution to the terrible lag they had in open Beta. Not some "magical" code that suddenly appeared out of the blue after playing the open Beta for 3 days.
No, they just reduced the number of players allowed in an instance.
So WHY these instances>>>> , for control of the FRAMES per second ONLY.
If Conan would be a non instanced game it would completely be unplayable because of the lag and dramatic FPS drops. We will see just how much computer you will need to play those 48vs48 siege battles. I predict that even on 8800 systems the on screen fighting will crawl to death.

Guess what? The sieges are not available yet. Why  do you think?
Because they will wait till the reviews are out, ALL talking of that wonderfull OFF line experience of solo leveling from 1 to 20. But these levels are NOT the MMO behind Conan.
Just like there is no content to speak about past level 60... there are no Sieges. Cut out. Blocked for now.
Why? The game WAS in development for 5 years; world PvP Sieges was THE sales argument.
Simply because 48vs48 with on screen characters in these resolutions and with this FUNCOM code even the 9800 will fall apart.
But what now FunCom: by reducing the number of players in each copy instance, you needed more servers. I thought that the server park was ready to handle the 700K+ subscribers?
And what do we see, with 400K already there are extra servers needed, because of the new limits they had to place on number of players per server per instance.
Result? Thinned out server populations which will have influence on PvP scenarios (have you seen the waiting times for PvP scenarios ???), economy, crafting, the batttles, everything.
Yep. Conan developpers choose tits above MMO's.

    Umm...wrong.

My guild currently has a keep, tradepost, and a temple, and there was a bug where you could attack other peoples' cities, and a guild brought around 50 people, (literally, I'm not exagerating) and we had a little less, around 40, and I have a "8800 system, and my framerate didn't drop by a single fps. Also, siege warfare is in the game currently, but really, do you think people are already going to have battle keeps that take massive ammounts of money and resources, 1 week after launch? Even you might be able to figure that one out. Also, about the instance copies, you're acting like you can only stay in the one you get put into, and about the pvp scenarios, go look at WoW with 10 million players, and tell me at all levels you can get into a bg instantly. Next time you troll, don't use opinions, but I guess that's what trolling is.

Sincve when is "I told you so" a decent manner Geez guess you believe that everything you feel and think pretains to everyone and you must enlighten us. Its not about people voicing their opinions its about people forcing them. ie i Don't like the game thus it suxxor's and no one else likes it either even the hundreds of thousands currently to busy playing to post otherwise. (in my case servers down or i'd be playing.)

Please get over yourself, your opinion in these things is no more right then mine, tastes differ gaming likes and dislikes are subjective, so the OP can take his "I told you so" and oh nm

*ZOMAGOD YOU LIKE PANCAKES TOO? I LOVE PANCAKES!! DID YOU HEAR THAT THIS OTHER GUY HATES PANCAKES? HE MUST BE RETARDED! EVERYBODY ELSE MUST LOVE PANCAKES, BECAUSE I LOVE THEM !*

There is no stage, the fanboys are not evolving. You watched too much pokemon episodes i guess :S

Everybody likes something else, there's millions of humans all over the world, everybody is different.

Show me a game that IS FOR EVERYONE ?

There is no BEST game, there is no game that everyone enjoys.

How about you GTFO and stop bashing things that you dislike?

People actually DO enjoy the game, no matter what you say.

I waited for the game 3 years, and knew what to expect. Played the pvp beta, i didn't really get much disappointment. I might be a fanboi, but at least i am not bashing other games that i don't like.

You like (example) WoW? Fine then, it's a good game, i don't like it anymore, but it does not mean that it sucks, and it does not mean that everyone who plays it is a blind idiot.

Tell people what? That AoC would do quite well from the get go?

400k is nothing to laugh at. Second highest MMO in NA already.

Only thing I knew it wouldnt do is beat WoW. Anyone who thought it would is insane.

Or do you actually  think forums represent the player base  and their feelings accurately?

  • saviocmsaviocm Member Posts: 5

Some of you guys act like games developers owe you a reason for living.  What's the big deal? You play a game; if you like it you pay your subscription. If you don't like it, you cancel.

  • onlinenow225onlinenow225 Member Posts: 381

Do they owe us something? No, do we have to play the buggy unfinished crap they produce? That answer is also No.  So by saying they dont owe us anything is a 100% true fact but, as far as being a company trying to make money they better damn well produce a good product or ill go somewhere else.

Its like saying a car dealer does not owe you anything well no duh, but if he wants to sell you that car he better damn give you a good deal.

  • saviocmsaviocm Member Posts: 5

Did you test drive that car?

AoC is the devil.... it's the devil...

When i bought the game, the store i was in, suddenly went into fire and the one at the store suddenly got horns and asked me; "cash or soul?". After a thought i said "cash please", went out of the store and noticed a burned mark on a wall near by.

Then a priest from the nearby church came at me and said; "THE DEVIL!!! THE DEIVL!!111", as he pointed my way i of course thought "ha, i'm not falling for that old trick" and kept on walking.

As i got home i noticed a trail of fire had followed me; "oh the sun must have been quite nice today", i thought.

As i installed the game, patched it up, and started playing i noticed another thing. My office room had changed into a pit of hell, a red horned fellah with hair that seemed to be on fire came at me.

    He said...

"You forgot your change, here.... Oh  by the way, you misspelled your name"

"NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" - i yelled, and afterwards said; "Oh, thank you, good sir, i nearly did a mistake here!"

And i could never sleep again....  *the horror of misspelling your name can be*

Morale of story. :  Don't forget your change.and there ain't always a fire in your neighbourhood. This thread makes this much sense, in the end.
