100% agree.   And, to  top it off, 1st person mode is broken so bad that the game is unplayable in any meaningful way.

However, have decided to give V:SoH another try.  It is probably now at about the state it should have been at release.  Still has some performance problems.   Still has some bugs that should have been fixed by now.  Still has a largely empty, and static world.  But, all that being said, it is still the most mature (after EQ1)  PVE MMORPG around.  So, having a good time with it.

AoC account canceled.  I cannot imagine a bigger draw for the kiddies than Console PvP & Boobies.

    Just my 2c

    Good Hunting

You hit the nail on the head.  About the time they get AoC "fixed" it will be time for the XBox 360 release.  Amazing timing to say the least.  At least the XBox 360 players will get a release worth buying.

Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware

"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."

thats your own opinion, its a long time since I havent enjoyed a mmo that much.

kids running around, right now the community is really good, the OOC can be anoying sometime but you can always turn it off, and I havent seen yet one person running around topless.

I am going to wait until Funcom works out the polish, exploitation issues, missing NPC's .

Yes they are out there and the UI needs some work.  Most reviews have stated this. Revieweres love the game but state wait for them to correct the problems.

As usual a game was pushed out the gate unfinished.

Actually I have been reading posts to get an idea if I want to try the game, While no one persons opinion is going to make up my mind; I do know what I am looking for in a game and in opinions that will help me.

    Just a little note:
For "Phantasy Star Universe" on xbox 360 you have to pay twice monthly:
    1. for online-gaming 360 and
    2. for the game itself monthly

I dunno, how FinalFantasy XI handles it though.

Now this I agree with. There certainly wasn't a reason to start a whole new thread for this information.

Overall it's simply an awesome theme with top notch story, music, violence and of course graphics!! The game has many, many HOOKS that make me want to play every day and night. The game is not stale...you are stale. Leave Conan alone. It has not failed and will forever be victorious! I advise all to buy it. You will love it, for it is greatness.

Glad hear it Bverji.  Just remember a couple things.  Most fanbois won't tell you anything you don't want to hear.  These troll as labeled by the fanbois will tell you not only the positives but also the negatives to the game.   I would equally disregard anyone that has nothing but favorable things to say about AoC as I would anyone that only has negative things to say about AoC.  The true is out there.  Here is a great unbiased article on the game:  http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=142772&page=1

Yes I understand what you are saying and agree with you bverji. When I want to learn about a certain MMO I have yet to play, I always come here and check the most recent threads on the game. It's just I'm sure your aware it can sometimes get a little out of control here, especially with an extremely hyped, brand new MMO such as Conan. Basically I just got a little frustrated after seeing the same old threads pop-up about Conan being a terrible game based on  just a few days of play. So many times we hear how badly a game sucks when the person has only played such a small part of it. Im new to MMORPG.com and im sure this has been happening for a long time. Same thread different day. Of course it's the same with the fans too. I have never really said anything bad about any of the MMO's I have played (apart from Sword of the new world), as I find everyone is unique in it's own way. All have their up's and down's, but I have enjoyed almost all of my experiences and praise all the companies for what they have accomplished. They try their best and work their a@#es off and sadly lots of it is chewed up and spat out by spoiled gamers who expect too much. :(  Im just happy we are in a day and age where we can experiences mass enjoyment thanks to pc's, consoles and hard working gaming companies. :)

Let me start off (to show that I've 'played a real MMO') that I've been playing MMOs since 1999 and Asheron's call.  I've played AC, AC2, AO, EQ, EQ2, Shadowbane, Lineage 2, DAoC and scores of other minor/F2P titles.

AoC is the first game since AC that I've really enjoyed.  I find that I want to play it and I've been having fun doing so.

I take great exception to being called an idiot for liking it, having never played a good MMO for stating that I'm enjoying the game, being new to MMOs for liking it and otherwise degrading me for saying I like the game.  I have never once bashed someone else for saying they didn't like the game (different games, different tastes and all of that) so why do people feel the need to bash me (whether directly or indirectly) because I do enjoy the game?

I will say this straight out, FOR ME, the game is great.  Is it perfect?  Hell no, but the potential here once they get the bugs worked out is great.  I, for one, am having a blast playing it and have highly recommended it to several of my friends.

Thx for the article link shannia. The reveiw seemed very good. I'd like to ask Raston; what about the game was great for you?

I have to say that pretty much all are rigth on this one

The game becomes abit stale when you get higher lvls.  There isn't much variety in the game and the Classes are stuck with the same 3-5 basic abilites all through the content witch (tbh) gets tireing with the same old same old.

The AI of the mobs is also pretty bad and it seems like the only idea Funom had when designing the game was to give them knockbacks and then endles numbers of useless abilites that don't matter at cause there are no counters to it from the players.

The shielding system ofc is a fluke on its own - just based on the fact that less than half of the current classes ingame are not depending on it.

Sadly I have to say that this one might die out in matter of months.  It was hurried way to much and is far from beeing the finished article.  And now Funcom is gonna focus on Xbox version and the PC version will be left like this for next 6 months or so.

I feel this game will suffer cause of the limitations of the Xbox controls.  It will never be able to bring longterm enjoyments cause abilities will always be to limited to be "fun" !

Wow wasn't much more exciting at end-game than AoC.

The advertised Battlegrounds didn't even come for 4-6 months- I don't think AoC is that bad off.

Even if content is damn short at 80.

Players did not lvl to 60 in few days in WOW.  Not at start.

Its just a sign that the content is lacking - the world is to small and the quests are giving way to much exp.  This game should have launched with at least 5 more zones to allow for more variety and diffrent storydriven game.  Its not.  Its one single SAME story for every single player playing the game.  And thats just bad MMO from the get go.

That might be because in WOW there are MANY artificial time sinks.

Another 20 hours you wind up at the same destination. AoC's levels probably took 5x as much(or more) effort to produce as Wow's prefabbed copy paste heightmap.

While I agree it's lacking, it's not the end of the world quite yet for AoC.

Overall ,I can say that it's clear that AoC is New, and Fresh. Alot of players are excited to get away from their 3~4 year blizzard prison. Honestly though, with so many complaining, and going as far as canceling their subscriptions (hell, even the dreaded server outages in early WoW history didn't produce this many cancellations), will likely make the game replayablilty and logevity much, much shorter than necessary.

Two things in which MMORPGs are *based* on. If you want a quick fix for a couple of months, consoles are that way >>>

Think about it. You've got people hitting end game in DAYS. Thats a bit rediculous. This is prime ground for Elitist and Hardcore Fanbois to dominate the landscape. Think about how WoW is now. EVERYONE who hits 70 is an elitist. It's disgusting. And now, you allow a flood of EXP and no real "skill" involved and in about a month, new players will be smacked down and talked down to with no real motivation to continue.

I suppose all this is my educated speculation.

Bottom line, without more content, AoC may not fail, but be a distant place behind more polished and content rich games like WoW, WAR, Etc.

Im disappointed becase Ive been playing for a day and have yet to see boobs. I got up at 5am this morning to log in , I couldnt sleep I needed my fix!

I guess the game only sucks for a small percentage of the MMO community

You think *that* is sage-like? It's a blunt opinion expressed in a very limited scope, it's the same thing everyone else who doesn't like the game has been doing since people could comment openly about the game here. Are you just hopping in this conversation without making any sort of relevant comment on what's being discussed for an undeserving praising +1 to your post count?

The last thing we need in these mass tabloid like "Conan sucks nd i kno y" threads is more irrelevant posts and yes men.

I didn't entertain the notion of a pointless, idiotic, sarcastic, +1, because I like to think that people are generally more intelligent than that. If you were just being sarcastic, you deserve to comment even less.

Two of three game you mention failed utterly and the third game is what every experienced mmo gamer hates.

its your opinion..and to my list i can add all mmos that have no loadings and no instancing...

i dont talk about the world size because any mmo is bigger then aoc atm

If 'loading" and "instancing" is the things that bother you the most, then there is probably a bigger issue deep down that were just not talking about...
