I feel after reading these forums that I am the only person who actually likes this game .
Which is making me think this is where the 5% of the AoC market who dont like the game have come to spew.
Should I move on to another forum and let people grieve in peace?
TBH before I brought game I was considering not bothering because of reading these forums but I decided to bite the bullet and try it ...
IM GLAD I did else I would have missed out on ALOT of fun.. best game of 2008 imo.

no Grail3r, you are not alone, I, for one, am loving the game
Don't be fooled by a very vocal forum minority. Its an illusion, for a real opinion, look at the ratings (usually higher than 8.5) or just keep enjoying the game yourself, I havn't felt let down yet. In fact, recent patch fixes have me excited about the state of the game come a month from now. It's going to get better from here not worse, and what we have is damn good I say.

'Cry Havoc, and Let Loose the Dogs of WARRRRR!!!'
lesson learned: NEVER base your decision to try a game based on the rantings of the resident trolls (or fanbois) on this site.
Yeah, 95% of the time, these forums are completely innacurate.
They are filled with bitter and whiney burnt out gamers who are desperately hoping to get that first time rush, and never getting their fingers on it.
I love AOC very much. It's a total blast
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.
The forums at mmorpg.com have always been more negative then positive, but you're definitely not alone. My computer barely even runs AoC, but I still enjoy it a lot so far.
No Grail3r, you are surely not alone. Do not be fooled by the naysayers and people trying to force opinons down others throats. The only reason were here today is because the servers are down, lol! No, but seriously, the people that love the game, are not worried about coming here wasting their time, when that precious time is needed in their new found MMO.
I am so happy to hear you "bit the bullet" and tried for yourself, otherwise you would have never even known that you actually would have liked it.
It's this website. Every new game (and old one for that matter) is ripped on a minute by minute basis by people who in large part-simply have nothing better to do.
Congratulations... it's your week in the barrel.
Oh... go have fun in your game and spend less time on these forums. Trust me.
You're not alone, a lot of people are liking the game, myself included, though most are playing it, that's why you feel lonely...
There there...
If you are having fun, then ignore the forums...seriously. Just look on them to get patch info or server info, or to help people with tech/game questions if you want.

Played: Age of Conan, DDO, Saga of Ryzom, SWG, DaOC, MxO, EQ2, and so on...
Wish List: Jumpgate Evolution, Star Wars: TOR, Star Trek
You are not alone, I'm playing and enjoying it alot too
The problem of forums is often that those that don't like the game or having problems with the game is more likely to present on the forum than those that like the game and are playing
Best way to test out and/or enjoy a mmo game these days is to test the mmo out for yourself, and never even think about reading a forums. Reading mmo forums these days is way too depressing.

Leemeg.
Its a fun game. Just because its not up to par technically or organizationally with other games doesn't mean it doesn't have a fun combat system and good content.
You know, I whine alot about the trader being unaccessible and the slow instance load but i can't deny that aoc is such a nice game. I'm having alot of fun so far. I'll be very happy if they fix the trader soon
You are far from alone
Lots and lots of folks loving this game!
AoC rocks. Forums are always negative. Sometimes it is justified like in the case of Vanguard but sometimes people just want attention.
There are tons of us!! These boards have just gotten very weighed down with trolls and doom chickens. It is almost impossible to come to these boards anymore and have a good knowledgeable decent conversation about a game anymore. It is really sad because they used to be the best boards around.
Anyway though see you in game!! There are thousands of us having a blast!
You are not alone lots love AoC,we just dont flood the forums atm we are busy playing unlike the
The following statement is false
The previous statement is true
Forums in general are not where happy people go to post.
They are usually playing the game.
Worst case is when a game developer starts to think that forums actually represent players.
Then you end up with iconic archtypes and crap like that.
Oh, you have to love this forums. In the end you have free discussion about almost everything. Can be tiresome ok, but still a good timewaster. You are not alone liking the game. But what people are discussing are tha bad things, the positive ones you take for granted. It's sad that it is that way, but it is so.
Anyway the point is. You know there will always be issues with games, a forum can prepare you for them. If it is issues that you can't possible accept then ok. Otherwise it is as everything else it's up to you to like the game or not.
I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.
"You have the right not to be killed"
When it comes to MMO's its best not to listen to other people thoughts on the game, its always the best method to just try the game yourself. Only in some instances do I observe what other people think of a game. Generally other people have different tastes, especially in MMO's.
Eh, forums are like anything else. It's always the minority of disgruntled people that cry the loudest.
I'm enjoying AoC for now. I might get bored with it later on, but right now, I'm finding it to be worth the $50 I paid for it. That's really all we're looking for. Is the game worth the money I spent for it? The answer is going to be different for everyone of course, but that is the only question that matters.
Vanguard, I found, wasn't that bad of a game. Yes, it had its problems and with it's history and such, it is a surprisingly good game. I like a lot of the ideas they implemented and I was really enjoying my psionicist. I just got tired of all the bugs that hampered my ability to enjoy the game. But, with the time I spent in it, I would say it was an enjoyable game overall as well.
I look at these forums and you can generally see what kind of problems a game has. A lot of it will be overstated for the most part, but it's fairly easy to see.
The only game that I feel I didn't get my money's worth was Hellgate: London. That was such a huge disappointment and I still feel twinges where I want to go to Bill Roper and just beat the snot out of him. And with their game Mythic on the horizon, it just has the same feel as Hellgate, which makes me just loathe it. But I'm sure there are others who feel differently and that's fine. I'm glad they enjoy what I could not. I'm glad I didn't get caught up in the whole Mourning and Dark & Light fiascos, though I am disappointed that Dark & Light didn't live up to its expectations.
Saga of Ryzom was a game that had a lot of promise, but just didn't do well. I liked the idea of an ever changing world, such as Everquests zones where they had different factions vying for control of the zones and whoever was killed most allowed one of the other factions to take control. But at the time my computer couldn't handle the zones outside of the cities and lagged too much, and by the time I upgraded, other games had my attention.
Another game on the horizon I'm looking forward to is Left 4 Dead, which isn't even a MMO. Nor is it one of these massive 32 player FPS's. It's simply an 8 player coop/adversarial experience that looks like it will be a hell of a lot of fun, which is why I play these games and what a lot of people seem to forget why they play as well.
But in the end, it is all opinion, and all you can do is try to find others who share your own views and such and see how they feel about it.
For some reason, there are 10 or so people that have nothing better to do than reiterate the same complaints over and over and over in every thread. (Many of these complaints aren't even justified, I'm lvl 40 and have yet to find the "omgwowzor game breaking bug, this suxors bug"). I'm guessing the posters are WoW forum moderators.
