Trumpets sound as KingCarebear approaches the podium. He stands on his pedastool and looks out into the crowd. There are thousands of them, maybe millions of MMO gamers just waiting to here his sound. Eager to hear what this man of men has to say. Desperately wanting to know the importance of such a meeting this early in the morning. The King clears his throat and begins to sing his song of songs....
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. Lend me your ears. Lend me your hearts. For I, KingCarebear has something very important to say to you. The crowd grows silent and listens. As you know Age of Conan is one of the newest games that has hit the market. It is one of the newest games that has embraced our land and our people. A lot has been said about the game. Some say its good, others say its bad, and there are a select few that say it is downright ugly. The crowd murmers at this statement. Regardless of the quality of the game or its subscription numbers, it is an undeniable fact that it has become one of the most controversial games our MMO Kingdom has seen in a long time. The crowd murmers once more.
This controversy stems from the barbaric and often graphic nature of the game. AOC is filled with the kind of blood and gore neverbore seen in a game of this magnitude. Some have been able to handle the graphic nature of the game quite well. Others, well, there are others who just couldn't hack it and had to leave the game. An example of this kind of behavior can be seen here: http://mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/181396
This poor lad couldn't handle the violence and gore that came with the game and had to leave the world. I guess the sight of a woman's flesh really got to him. He couldn't handle the skin, he couldn't stand seeing the boobies shine in his face. There are a few jeers and laughter from the crowd. Tell the kid to grow a pair before he come back to AOC, one man yells. Another one yells, maybe he can't. Laughter erupts from the crowd, mainly from the men. Come on guys cut it out, be nice, he's just a little sensitive cleavage that's all. Oh believe me honey that's not all he's sensitive too, another man says. More laughter erupts from the crowd.
ENOUGH!!! Yells KingCarebear in a commanding carebear voice. The crowd grows silent again. This is not the point I am trying to make my dear gamers. There has been complaints brought my way about the lack of positive, fair and well objective views of the game. One gamer in particular approached me with this issue and offered his assistance to the cause. I listened to his proposition and immediately took action. He was obiviously a fan of AOC and any idiot could see he was a boy. And by the looks of him he seemed like a man with great leadership abilities. He had the air of a Captain and when it was all said and done. I graced him with the title Captain Fanboi and that was that.
The crowd murmurs. I thought I had made the right decesion. I thought I had done the right thing. But soon after I had pronounced him Captain is when I realized I had made a grave error in judgement. Captain Fanboi was not the man I thought he was. He was not the calm, cool and collected rational leader I envisioned him to be. As it turned out, he was somewhat of a manic. A wild and uncontrollable rebel who did not know when to say no and it cost him dearly. The crowd grows eager to know more.
A few days ago in the AOC region of this land Captain Fanboi made some comments that were tottally unacceptable. He was wrong and he knows he was wrong and he was rightfully banned from the region and the land as a whole. "What did he do?" yelled a member of the crowd.
He caused trouble is what he did. He insulted and belittled people who had reasonable arguments as to why they did not like the game and why the game of AOC was simply not good. As Captain, I expected him to use ration and logic to put a positive light on the game in the face of darkness. Every game is not perfect, not even World of Warcraft, there will always be games that are good and bad and there will always be people who like those games regardless of the quality of the game. There is good and bad for every situation(a yin and yang) and each side must be represented equally or we as a nation of MMO gamers will die!! The crowd express its approval with claps and a few cheers.
As of now CaptainFanboi is gone from this land. I am not sure how long he will be gone or when he will return. But the one thing I do know is we are stronger than we have ever been before and it will stay that way as long as we are able to talk about our differences in a civil mature manner. So please, please my dear citizens, don't let emotion and irrationality cloud your judgement. Don't let your feelings get in the way of reason. There is a time to be passionate and a time to be logical. Let's try to use the best of both worlds to better our society and our world. Thank you and God bless.
The crowd cheers its approvial. Chants of Long live the king echo througout the crowd. KingCarebear stands down from his podium. He steps off his pedastool and gives a wave to the crowd. The crowd of people cheers louder than before and worship the ground he walks on. KingCarebear smiles and walks off into the sunset, knowing he's done his job to the best of his abilities. And will continue to do so as long as he is King.

Well written. That was a cool read
lol great post. It was entertaining, heartwarming, tragic, and humorous all at once. The sad thing is most people on this site won't 1. understand what you wrote or 2. really give a dam about what the point was that you were trying to get across.
Yeah well written, i just can imagine how pissed off you would get if you hit the back button.
Good points made there my liege.
Something strange happened as I was reading this. I was more then half way through it when I decided to just skim through the last parts to get to the end. That idea didn't last long. I ended up having to go back to where I started skimming and actually read the post all the way through.
Back to the point. It was well written and worth the read. I think if more people had a robust sense of humor like the author this board would be a better place.
No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-
