I've just seen some screenshots of this game and it looks really nice for a free mmorpg.
So I just wanna know what it's like to play this game, maby I shall give it a try!
Is it a korean grinder like there are so manny? Is it point'n'click? or can you just walk around on a normal way?
What's the community like? are there quests? is it a big world? ... just tell me how requiem is to play!

The game does have the potential of becoming really enjoyable: the chars are ok, skills are nothing outstanding, but still diverse enough to let you experiment a bit, plus the DNA (price aside) adds a nice extra twist. The drops are actually quite good, with lots of items with extra stats and the in game cash you can obtain through quests and training is enough to pay for the pots and other basic stuff, even at low levels. So it's a fairly balanced game (at least at lower lvls - due prolly to the work ob CB testers who managed to polish the low level maps). Quests are something to do besides grinding (which at least at low levels is actually very mild/gentle, you can quickly level up without any extra effort) - some are long, but the rewards are ok - you can prolly gain the same ammount of xp quicker by just grinding, but they're fun and they'll push you a little to explore and know the world better. Overall, not a bad game - and it has a certain atmosphere which can become addictive in time.
BUT ! All this ONLY if you manage (somehow) to actually play the game. I couldn't: the game keeps crashing for no reason and is booting me out after just a few seconds of playing, all sorts of weird errors (with some pop up windows displaying a scrambled message), white & black screens, the game freezes, etc. At first I though it was something wrong with my PC, but all this happens when the servers are busy, when they're stable, I can play just fine. Now I know they're testing the servers (or so they claim), but I can't see how they can do that if people can't really log in). Many people said they were experiencing similar problems, so....it's a very bad thing to happen in OB, IMO - the game should be almost ready for an official/full release, but these server problems are serious, and since you can't really move from one server to another (you have to create a new character), you're stuck.
Oh well...
The problem could actually be the volume of people and your system not being capable of rendering out that many people, although thats speculative. I have been able to log in during busy times and play just fine but my system is pretty rescent, I imagine many people don't have modern PCs if they are playing this game. Have you tried decreasing your draw distance? The character sprites in particular can take a hit on the system since they are particularly higher poly, and during busy times my system renders probably around 800-900 sprites.
Also the game has its merits. I am playing it right now and its enjoyable. Right now there are plenty of bugs. Although there were plenty more in closed beta. They have put in quite a bit of more quests, but alot of the new quests are mis-informationed. Its drop system is very interesting seeing as how there are no real junk drops. On a side note. I have more fun playing this then Age of Conan.
If you've ever played an MMO before, this isn't going to be something interesting or new. It's a typical Asian grind-fest with a bunch of nonsensical creatures/beings thrown in at random places. There is no theme, the mobs(enemies) don't fit together, and it offers nothing interesting.
And aside from the fact that it's boring and repetitive, it crashes on most people's machines almost constantly. When I first set up the game, I got the Blue Screen of Death after 15 minutes. It's just a mess and another Asian game that doesn't belong here. This site is already busting at the seams with countless Asian cookie-cutter games with nothing but a different polish. Bleh!
My PC specs are: P4 CPU 3.00 GHz / 1.00 GB of RAM / GeForce 6700 GT / Windows XP Professional / Direct X 9 c (March 2008) - it's not top notch, but it's within game's reccomended specs and as far as I can tell, it should be able to run the game.
Is not another grind-fest asian game more, actually is much better than most of F2P, and the time to level up isn't that much.
The fact that the game is not another asian mmorpg more is that the game is "new", and not just another english version released many many years after the asian version.
About crashes...depends on your machine and about if you bother reading forums a bit to fix the problem i guess, never say most of people get crashes because is not true. I got just 2 or 3 crashes since OB started, which it's pretty nice.
To me it seems a game with so much potential, and the OB won't last for many months/years such as the rest of english asian versions. At least for now their staff is working for FREE 100%, not as most of F2P which launch OB with cash shop from day 1 when the game still has bugs (even when the asian version was released many years ago).
So...does requiem sucks? well, depends on what you like.
Does it deserves a try? of course, every game does.
You can move with mouse or WSDA, the world is...enough for now...you will have to walk so much, even in the towns :S , the community...well on the forums most of people are nice, in the game...everyone knows there is always some dumb around. There are quests, many at least the first 30-35 levels, i don't know after that since i'm not more level than that.
How is requiem? hmm from my point of view the game is fine, but still has a lot of bugs to fix
Requiem is pretty good. However, the first 10 levels are very bad. Why they are even in the game boggles my mind. Once you get to level 10 and get an actual class it is great.
People on this board that call it just another Asian grinder simply played it for 15 minutes, got no where and immediately came here to complain. But there will always be ignorant people, that is inescapeable.
The servers are better but they are quite .....flakely. They just opened a PK server and I noticed a dramatic decrease in lag and disconnects. Still had some but it wasn't nearly as bad as before. So, if you get some bad lag or get disconnected every 20 minutes(unfortunately that is not an exaggeration) don't feel discouraged.
Personally, I'm quitting the game in the next week and won't come back until they fix the servers and some of the vast amount of of bugs or until the release launch. Requiem is very good and has the potential to be the best free to play MMO on the market but it is not living up to that potential right now.
It's good enough that I'm surprised that it's free. I got bored of WoW long ago... this is the first game in a while that has been able to keep my attention for more than a few days.
It's free, and it's totally worth a little bit of your time to see if it's something you'd enjoy.
The game is decent. Definitely worth trying. A lot better than many other free to play games I have played. The weapon/equipment upgrade system is pretty neat as well as the dna system. Other than that the crafting is pretty much non existent as far as I can tell. The graphics are pretty good. It is very similar to Lineage 2 in many aspects, especially the graphics, weapons/armor and professions.
However it does lack content. It is easier to grind than do quest, in my experience, and there are still quite a few bugs, though not game breaking. Character customization is minimal, choose from 5 or 6 faces and hair styles and thats about it. You are limited in your profession based on your race. I am only up to level 13 so far so I cant speak for anything beyond that. I downloaded from fileplanet and it wouldnt work. Downloaded again using torrent and it worked fine. I say try it, if you dont like it at least it didnt cost anything!

game is mess
patcher is failure. Gravity does not respect its customer base or inform them of changes or new servers for pk, that get tossed upon us, and did not offer any char transfer or ability to pk on our home server.
there is NO , read it NO< content or dungeons past lvll 35, and you can get to level 35 ina few days.
dna system is lacklustr and very limited, the beast possessino last short time, you gotta rebuff when your done , and is wholely a waste of time.
there is nothing fun or unique to this game.
Don't get me wrong....but...customer? are you serious? are you a customer or are you a TESTER? i don't think you or any player currently pays them...but oh well...maybe you are paying them so you are a customer.
Patcher failure...it's normal when hundreds/thousands of people try to patch the game at the same time, i patched it days before OB without any problem. (also patcher was fixed as there is a new client available to download)
Lack of content, i agree but again, they are doing it pretty well for a NEW game, first they'll fix the low lvl content and then they'll work on high levels, sounds fair to me.
They informed that a pk server was going to be ADDED, so it's your main problem if you decided to level up hard in a NON PK server, they didn't order you to level up, did they?
About DNA...what did you expect? the same goes for beast possession.
Ye...i got to lvl 30+ aswell and there is lack of content...but hey, it's supposed to be a game for mature people, not a game where kids get to level 40 in 2 days. Currently i'm not playing the game (just watching it's progress) but i still enjoy it when i log in.
The only thing i don't like so much are the classes, just because it lacks some of the ones i like more, but well, it's fine anyways.

My first impression: another WoW clone.
(despite WoW copies from others)
Maybe WoW is too successful that everyone copies but come on why don't I go back to WoW if I want to play this kind of MMO?
A bit OT: I hate WoW for creating the instance system, quest system, soul bound system etc but what so bad is that everyone follows.
MMO played (paid):
AION
DragonRaja
Dungeons & Dragons Online
Lineage
Lineage 2
Tibia
Ultima Online
Warhammer Online
World of Warcraft
MMO tried:
Atlantica Online
Darkfall
Dead Frontier
Dungeon Runners
EverQuest
Lord of the Rings Online
Monster Hunter Frontier Online
Ragnarok Online
Requiem
Runes of Magic
Runescape
The 4th Coming
and some other Chinese/Korean or beta MMOs
I may agree with you that it looks similar to WoW in some aspects of the game, but is not a WoW clone, after all, every new mmorpg released may looks similar to another old mmorpg, it's impossible to make whole new stuff for a game.
It's like if you say Ferrari is a clone of Seat...yes! they have 4 wheels! both are cars! the same happens with games.
refering to the OT, instance system is the best thing made ever, imagine fighting in an outdoors instance...too many people that you won't kill what you need. Every mmorpg has instance system nowdays.
It solves such problem in a way avoiding it, but not overcome it. However, with instance system the MASSIVE multiplayer online RPG is not massive anymore.
Instance system is kind of like the lobby game like those first person shooting and real time SLG games where you wait at the lobby to create a game room with like < 20 players to play. If I want such kind of RPG there are some Diablo-like lobby games already, don't bring such style to MMORPG please.

Well, instances are there since ever, it fixes many problems, and as long as it comes to PvE...instances (certain dungeons, raids) are the best for everyone, i may agree that it sucks if instances are for PvP, but not many mmorpgs have just PvP instances. Instances in games usually don't stop you to keep that "massive multiplayer" you talk about, It's just for certain areas where you are not supposed to go alone, that means you won't do anything inside there other than annoy people (pking or anything).
Again, comparing instance system from mmorpgs to an action-rpg multiplayer game is like comparing the Ferrari with a Seat. These instances are just for certain areas where you can't do anything "good" alone as said above, and it doesn't just fix the problem of people, it helps in many different ways.
I might be wrong, but maybe you are used to play a mmorpg without instances for a long time, such as L2.
It is definately a nice game, graphics are really good for a cash shop item game. The grind is up to lvl 30 minimal in comparison to general asian grinders, since quests give you a lot of xp. Cant say how is it in the mid-high lvl area. I did hear there is lack of content but didnt go into any higher lvl areas, i bet i will quit before i touch these lvl areas since iam bored already more or less, not really any refreshing new things.
If you like PvE and dungeons, i think this game offers lots of fun gameplay. PvP is in my opinione a bit broken and needs a lot of improvement, between class balances but also the movement and hit range. So if you are looking for awesome pvp, i guess this is not the game you are looking for.
But dont expect a blockbuster mmorpg or similarity to content and quality like WoW, its fun to hang around during open beta but probably not a game for longterm motivation, for that i guess warhammer will do the job.
The game is rated for mature, but it isnt really a game for mature players at all. The only reason for mature rating is, that you see more blood and gore in this game..nothing else to find for mature gamers. Most of the community are teenagers so far i could see and read, so you know what will await you.
What you can expect:
- quests but not always loads of it for every lvl
- instance pvp maps, did see only 2 so far lvl 10-19, lvl 20-29 and so on. pvp is a bit broken like i wrote, especially if you are used to quality pvp.
- dungeons, small but some of them are interesting
- weapon echantement + auction house, kind of monster form for each player which you can lvl up, with skills and stuff
- guild structure
- game maps are nice but a bit small
If you want to start the game, be carefull there is no skill reset available for each class.
It is for sure not a WoW clone by all respect, if it is a clone of general item shop games but not a blockbuster game.

Clever things.
I may agree that it has some more bugs compared to the CB (from what CB testers say), but remember the client was not the same, they didn't patch CB client so it's normal.
Just keep in mind that the korean Open Beta was released on July 2007, so is not like the game it's very smooth and has 0 bugs for them either, it took them many months to add the DNA system and many other things, our OB started 10 days ago so i'm not going to complain.
I'm agree that is weird...but thats the reason why i'm not currently playing it, just watching it's progress. I rather wait and see how it ends than currently get bored of the game in a Open Beta.
Edit: ermm just noticed that you talk about bugged sets...correct me if i'm wrong but they fixed that problem days ago, exactly 4 or 5 days ago so maybe you should check again.
Its called beta for a reason, to test the game in various ways.
If you enter Beta's and expect a finished game, you need to go to the pharmacy and collect some brainpills.

If you dont understand what i write, ask a damn question instead of going into autoflaming-mode.
And dont read in stuff between the lines, i say what i mean.
The only other “Asian Grinders” I’ve played are Flyff and Hero(beta). This does better than them in my opinion, but I still think you can put it in that category of game. The world feels a little more open than they did. Skills seem more varied and interesting. It’s the best free game I’ve played.
Some things aren’t very intuitive, people ask a lot of questions in general chat. For instance, there is a quest to pick your class at level 9 which a lot of people miss and ask why they cant level past 9. Or certain mobs only come out at certain times, or merchants that only buy and sell at certain times of the day. Things that seem like bugs that are actually part of the game.
It’s impossible to predict if someone else will like a game, but for a free game and for a game that’s in beta it is pretty solid.
Gold spammers are pretty active in this game already. Make “/shut” your friend if you play this, you will need to use it fairly often.
I’ve only played to about level 18 so there is a lot I don’t know about this game. But I'm hooked enough to keep playing for a while longer atleast.
Played the Open Beta to lvl 10 last weekend. So far, Requiem
-didn't show bugs except a few disconnects. I have seen games after beta in worse quality
-has decent graphics. More that I expected from a free to play game
-and is completely unoriginal in its gameplay during the first 10 levels.I have not checked out the DNA system or crafting yet (is there crafting? The "item reduction smiths" must be good for something) , but I'm skeptical if they can boost the game from completely bland to halfway interesting
It's another cookie-cutter asian grindfest like posters have already said.
For one it's ASIAN. So this means:
Customer Service will be freakin horrible. Translations in the game will feel like some retard wrote it. Plain and Simple, if you need help, you won't get it.
It's free FOR NOW. Soon, just like 90% of Asian games, if not all of them, will be an item mall. This will make it seem like you're playing a game for free. In which you'll eventually spend money on it if you continue to play...because the items in the item malls are practically MUST HAVES once you get into higher gameplay. And if you don't buy...others always will, making a highly unfair advantage.
I played for just like 1/2 hour. I was done. Wasn't impressed.
lol some people just don't give games a shot. Many people have noted the beginning levels are bad, including me. You really have to play a little to get a feel for the game.
Still you really don't know the company behind this if thats your assessment of how the game will play out. They aren't some K2Networks or Aeria. Gravity LLC. is a subsidary of Gravity who made the game. Gravity LLC. also has its own development staff unlike other localizations that have to rely on the developer to make corrections for them. Because they are a subsidary and not the main company, they really don't seem to care about making profit. They break even just about every month.
This means that they actually have... support staff. One time I got helped in less then a minute and everything they did worked. Also it means that things are actually translated, then edited by a person whos native language is english. Not everything in Requiem right now is translated mainly from the time of proof-reading, but it will be just like in all the other Gravity Games.
I like playing Requiem. I do not think it’s a good idea to compare it to AoC. My analogy is exaggerated, but it’s kind of like comparing Frogger to Halflife.
Now if Halflife is buggy or your computer can’t play it or if you don’t like the features you can say Frogger is better. But it would be a funny comparison because they are not the same thing.
This game is created mostly from the “Asian grinder” model. I don’t mean it to be derogatory towards the game and if there is a better way to describe the category I’ll adopt it. But it’s nothing like AoC. It takes things from western mmos like dungeons and flight paths, but to me it its not enough to change what it is.
If you don’t want to play an Asian Grinder, don’t play this game.
If you want to play a fun asian grinder that makes some good attempts to expand out its genre, try this game out.
I'm agree that Requiem is another asian grinder, but it's much faster to play than most of F2P out there, and offers many things that others don't. I've played many F2P and they all are...meh...
The last F2P i played is Rohan OB for few days (many people said rohan and requiem were going to be the best F2P), and i have to say that by far i prefer requiem because...leveling is faster with less lvl cap, both have plenty of bugs atm and i don't know...but Rohan seems to be more bugged plus its asian version has been out for years. Requiem servers support more people than rohan ones, it has non instance dungeons full of ksers and it's hard to find good spots to level up and plenty of other things.
The only better thing in Rohan i believe are the skills of some classes compared to requiem such as the cleric, and of course is a good game, but is not that oriented to mature people as you need plenty of time to play that game. Teleport system sucks, as there is none else than buying scrolls to different towns and walking all over the map.
Rohan would be good if it released 1 or 2 years ago...as at the moment it really offers nothing else than Guild VS Guild at later levels...too much grind for just that.
So from my point of view, requiem is one of the best F2P out there if not the best. People likes different games, so i advice anyone to try out a game instead of asking, because it won't make clear anything.
And yeah, comparing a F2P to a P2P game makes no sense, but requiem seems to be the closest F2P to a P2P game.
