Ok, I'm a bit confused.

I've lurked around several message boards (MMOsite, this one, ONrpg.com) and I keep reading all this negative feedback toward this game. Everything from the buggy gameplay to the constant crashes and disconnects. One could assume from all the posts I've read that this game is horrible.

However, I also keep reading things that seem to contradict what the general populace is saying. For example, Archlord is still the number one downloaded game on MMOsite and CNET.com. And now I read that the population in-game has just hit the 500,000 mark.

So my question is this...how can a game that has gotten so much negative player feedback still garner such attention as to get half a million people playing it? Are the numbers rigged? Are people being too harsh in their criticism of it?

As a side note to all of this, I have played the game, although it was shortly after it went F2P. I wasn't impressed. But has the game gotten better since then, or worse?

I played this game, but was putt of by the staggering about of auto botters. For me, seeing that in any game is a sign of decay. So two thumbs down, or 4 punches to the face. Your choice.

I only began playing very recently - but I think it's the 2nd best F2P game I've ever played (RuneScape had it's big times), and it will definitely keep me entertained for a little while, as I wait patiently for WAR.

    WAR is coming.

I think the reason why Archlord is growing right now is because of the Oscar nomitated movie from Belgium called Ben X which was a fantastic film by the way but it had many scenes that included actual game footage of archlord and some of the coolest looking footage... so I could see why people would want to check it out again.. that movie made me check it out a second time anyway.

It is free to play and being such it is possible to be the most downloaded game.

Every F2P has problems and bugs and things to complain about.  Keeping that in mind, Archlord is not bad at all.

Draq, I've seen worse games which were Pay to Play. Archlord is fine for a free to play game.

Pros: Cool game, ok graphics, a few extra things to do aside from grind constantly. Nice and interesting world. Auto-Loot has to be a big plus. Guild + FFA PvP with a strict punishment system.

Cons: Codemasters are a horrible company for MMO customer care and the running of an MMO. They are horrible. Many bugs, unstable GvsG sieges (they are trying to fix this, but progress is slow!), crashes. A tonne of little-kiddies at every corner in-game and on the forums.

Another downside is that Chantra Shop Items can provide unfair bonuses which means you should buy them to make sure you don't loose to someone else using them. In-evitably it's the people who own Chantra shop-items who are the best in the game. But we came to terms with the fact that Archlord wouldn't survive without this unfortunately.

The worst part of the game must be Codemasters, although the new Community Staff have improved. They are a lot better then the previous. Dnote has done a great job improving the community and doing a lot for it.

But Archlord is fine for a temporary game. It's similar to Lineage II but free.

Regardless of what anyone tells you, the ratings here are generally spot on about a game.

Initially because a game is new the ratings will be high, until the game has been out for a while.

A 7 is being generous for this game, but I do understand some people like pve grind games.

    The graphics are really nice.

But once you hit 50, like most aisan games - the grind is exceedingly painful.

    And oh so repetitive.

So play it for 30 or so levels have fun for a month or so.

They made this game free for a reason, to get teenagers with no money to play it.

    Yah it sucks that bad.

I hit level 59 in ArchLord and most games the "hit this before you judge level" is 30, so this is my experience..

    pvp is slow and boring.

Berserkers ARE pvp.. if youre not one, youre not pvp

Gear is NOT hard to get

in order to level u almost NEED to cash shop

    Bots EVERYWHERE

Auction house is bugged like no other

^^ i bought new equips every 6/7 levels and at least 3 times of the few times i had used the AH, my items would dissapear with no money reembersment and items i put ON the auction house that had sold, i'd receive no money for.. bad game

Play this if you want to spend 3/4 months to look neat at the end and realise that.. a lot of people say games have no endgame but there really is nothing in this game.. nothing at all
