I suggest you visit other forums, blogs or gamesites. Search around and you will find the truth. You will have a hard time finding it here. I don't know why that is.. or do I?

Well one can always just buy the game and play for the "free" month. After all what is 50$ to most people!
Personally I can not recommend it much, but neither is it THAT much worse than other mmos out there recently.
The sad thing is the genre will die with many more games like this so we shouldn't support it. Also you might risk getting a ban without doing anything wrong or being stuck with little help in the game by GMs.
If you can live with that, shell out the money and try for yourself! Chances are that if you are playing your first mmo, then Conan might be something for you. If you played a lot your expectancies might be too high ...

Circuit City was selling it for 40 bucks last week. I got mine from best Buy for that since they price match CC. I even got 3 days worth of play from it before they broke it in the patch Tuesday. Since tech support is non existent on the official boards and have not responded to my email in 48 hours now I am hoping todays patch will fix my issues. But if not at least I got 10 or 12 hours play for my 40 bucks, right ?

Truth is subjective.
Finding well-written information to support either side... well, it's around here, but yeah, way too hard to find. Essentially you find a few little pieces of information in every amateur "review". And since everyone believes their review is so important it deserves its own thread, you have to click 20 threads to piece anything meaningful together.
Your suggestion comes at a time when there are hardly any other resources to check besides the official forum though, and message boards in general are a horrible place to form your first impression of a game.
In 7-10 days you'll start seeing major gaming site reviews.
One day after which the negative spin here will start. ;P

While it may not be what you wanted you should really hope it succeeds. Every time a game that trys not to be a WoW clone fails it just ensures that we'll just get more WoW clones. Of course if you like WoW then i guess i can see why you'd want all other games to fail and predict games that try and break the mold will kill the genre. You don't like the game thats your point. So don't play it, but please don't tell others not to support it. I personally am having alot of fun with it(as are others), but I don't tell you what you should or should not support .
Oh and I've played EQ, AC, AC2,Shadowbane, EQ2, WoW, and DAoC so your holier then thou attitude that experienced players don't like it is alot of.. well misinformation.

It is hard to find the truth because a lot of people in here seems to have an agenda of backstabbing this game. And they are doing a hell of a job! I don't care if people are positive or negative to the game, love it or hate it. I'm simply suggesting that unbiased views of the game are easier found elsewhere.

This forum has more neutral opinions than the official forums, although the official forums often have more reliable information, as you can guarantee that the people on there have actually played the game.
Many people here do whine about the game, there is much to whine about tbh! But there is a LOT to love about the game, and I really do not see that many positive posts on here.
There also does seem to be a small, but loud, minority of people who seem to bash the game, without having experienced it themselves first hand.

I must just possess talents beyond most mortal men. I had no problem discerning the wheat from the chaff here on these forums, and feel that for the most part, the posters have been quite fair in their assessment of the present state of the game.
What gets difficult is that many people make an assumption that because the game is designed in a certain manner, and they don't agree with that design, that somehow its a bad game.
Sure, if you love sandbox type games, AOC is not for you. If you love quest driven gameplay, you've found a new home.
Neither opinion makes the game good or bad, its just a statement of fact and its up to the buyer to determine if thats the sort of game they enjoy playing.
Me, I'm more of a open world, sandbox sort of guy, but I'm having fun with AOC now and I think I can get a few months of decent gameplay out of it. Not looking for a second home you know, just a place for a bit of fun.

people like me? lol. Have you searched my name and looked at my posts. What I do is I give pros and cons. I help people with their system to get them up and running. If I truly hated the game as much as you say would I honestly help people get their pcs up to par to run this game or help with technical issues? Come on.
Also, show me one confusing statement in the quote you just quoted from me. You're telling me that the official forums aren't worse than here?
You need to stop being so one sided on an issue and instead of praising everything (or putting down one hint of criticsim) be honest with people. Tell them the good stuff and tell them the bad stuff. Dont fluff everthing. People can see right through that as much as peope seeing right through nothing but griefing posts.

I give pros and Cons, altho I havent given any personal reviews because I'm only level 40
I am very vocal that I have no interest in subscribing (for now)
but I also recommend that the game is worth buying just for playing under level 35

There are a lot of fanbois and haters. When the threads start off in absolutes that's when you know the poster is either one or the other.
Saying this game is the best game ever...yeah right. Opinion is subjective but still-
On the other hand, saying this game is the worst pile of whale dung ever to wash up on a beach, well that's not accurate either.
The game has pluses and minuses. Anyone with an open mind can see that. A lot of folks are having technical problems. Others do not. So what do the lucky folks who are running the game fine conclude...that people for whom the game is ill performing are morons, idiots, retards, incompetents or have some secret agenda. Cut the BS. The folks at Funcom have already admitted there are some problems server side accounting for the poor performance some have, and they are working to correct it.
