Don't even ask. Not being mean at all but considering how reliable game devs are these days I would not rely on any release date until a week after closed beta ends.

I see a early decemeber 2004 release date.
Nothing personal, but how could it have ever been 'pushed back' when there has NEVER been an official release date announced?
The ONLY official release date has been '2004'. And they have been very adamant about this. Even to the point that a recent video included the producer saying "IT WILL BE RELEASED THIS YEAR".
My best guess is Nov or Dec...so if you get it before Jan 1 2005, it will be 'on time'.
When i want to know a release date i go to www.ebgames.com, it says Nov 15th/04.
And when you think about this its very funny. Yes i want to play eq2 so bad im willing to trust ebgames for news on the release date!!!
HAH, lets hope there right, ive been waiting a loooong time for this.

My guess is around 15 Dec. so the kiddies can play for 2 weeks while school is out and young adults are home from College. JMO
SOE is big on holidays, Im guesing around Christmas, I highly believe it will be before Feb because Preorders are out.

I'm guessing December. Beta could begin sometime in September, then run a couple of months, then a December release is possible. Keep in mind the game is only 70% finished (content-wise), and they still have to see how this new-fangled combat wheel is received.
Now I will concede there is a chance that release could be pushed back into 2005. With the EQLive expansion Omens of War still to come out, you can bet they'll try to sell that puppy way before they ever give wind to us that EQ2's beta is about to begin.
Forget speculation about a release date, neither of the 2 heavy-weights in this market plan on "blinking" and there is a good reason why.
Anyone who has been tracking the development of recent MMo's should - hopefully - agree that WOW and EQ2 are the primary heavy-weights for the market of people patiently - HaHA NOT - waiting for one or the other to make some type of move on officially marking their calendar. There is some good reason for this, consider the possibility of 2 million people waiting to see who hits the market. Let us say that 30% of these people will jump onto what ever is available - Saga of Rysom (excuse me if I mispelled it) or whatever is new for MMo's, they are removed from consideration - that leaves 1.4 million people to be faught over by either EQ2 or WOW. Let us further refine this by saying that another 600k people will either play EQ2 or WOW but not both. Please dont assume any reasons like PVP issues, Graphics, or gameplay, both games have got the content to keep people interested so it basically comes down to preferences.
This leaves something in the numbers of people up for grabs around 800k. With both game developers looking like they are going to charge about they same for monthly installments - approx $13 dollars per month - this leaves $10,400,000 per month in revenue up for grabs.
Do me a favor Moorgard - if you track postings which is what I would be doing please put on blinders - I dont want to be invaded by the hord of orcs just yet, I'm not really equipt to deal with them yet.
This - sadly to say - is where the "blink" factor comes in to play - if, with the speculation running on the internet WOW does annnounce a release of October for the game. Remember we already accounted for people who will either play EQ2 or WOW, the remaining people just want something to play and aren't interested in the ongoing battles in the forums. If EQ2 stays with the what everyone is thinking even though nothing official has been laid down that they will release in November of this year that would give WOW about a month to gobble up as much of the market as they can. Believe me when I say this - both games will present enough content to keep people engulfed in the game even if they aren't wild about some aspects of certain points, or some, simply because of the costs wont want to spend the extra once they are settled down into a game.
Another point to consider is that WOW nor EQ2 have to make any such announcement about release - the announcement is primarily a tool for hype - we announce and get a 60% increase in preorders - they could just start shipping out the games. Once it starts showing up on the shelves for sale the word would get out quick enough - there are plenty of people who are watching store shelves just for such a thing to happen. It wouldn't take long for someone to put out a banner-head reading WOW (or EQ2) HITS STORESHELVES TODAY. Then, hehe - watch out for the thundering masses to invade stores marketing the game.
Again, I really need to point out - and this is becasue i've been programming computers since the days of when punch-cards were needed to get something done, MMo's are NEVER and I mean NEVER 100% complete when they are released - they might have sufficient content to 40's and 50's when released. The whole point of updates isnt just to correct problems encountered once a games is released, it is there to add additional content to keep people playing. IF either EQ2 or WOW would to stop adding content they would quickly find customers moving over to other games that continued to upgrade and update their game.
Again - Please - Pretty please - Moorgard - if you run into this just pretend you never saw it, I would not want Sony to get the idea that they might be jeopardy if Blizzard beats thm to the market, I am quite sure - LOL - that Sony will be prefectly satisfied with getting 30% the total market.
Note: This posting is not to open any can of Wurms - it is here simply to provide some people with panting-at-the-mouth syndrum with - hopefully - some calming effect. Neither you Hard-core Blizzard fans nor Sony fans will be disappointed when these 2 companies do decide to get something going, players and gamers will be happy, as for the companies involved - well - its up to you guys now, it's your bottom line -
on 1 site i heard that it would be out in november, but on another it said they arent going to say yet and to be honest i think they should take there time because then the game will be much better than if they rush it.
