What is a good PCI-Express graphics card?

I just got a new computer and it has a pci-express slot for graphics cards not the AGP 8x.  It came with a x300 SE which is not good enough for a game like EQ2 and I was wondering if anybody knows what the best thing to get right now for the pci-express slot is.  I have been looking at the Nvidia PCX 5900 card because its pretty cheap.  Is that one very good compared to what else is out right now and would it be good enough to run EQ2 with all the graphics turned up?

    have you seen any of them for sale online, cuz I can't find anything right now really.

    Search www.pricegrabber.com and www.newegg.com. You can find 6800 GT or x800 pro.

    yea i can find those cards, but they are all for AGP 8x slot, I dont have that, i have PCI-Express x16, I need to find a good card that fits in the PCI-Express x16 slot.

    I am 58% addicted to Counterstrike. What about you?

    I suggest waiting a month or until the christmas shopping season kicks in. PCI-E cards will be more in supply than currently and who knows, prices might go down and there's all those christmas deals.

    Also I suggest staying away from the FX 59xx lines. Best price/perf card currently is the 6800 GT(and I'm an ATi fan) so if you can afford it try and find one with the PCI-E bridge support. Otherwise go for ATi as they have an entire line of cards with native PCI-E support.

    EQ2 probably won't be out until around that time anyway unless you are in the beta. ::::27::

    yea your probably right, nothing is really out yet, I just hope my computer will be able to run half-life 2 alright image

    Half Life 2 runs smooth as butter maxed out on a 9800 pro 128 mb AGP 8x... if you have anything like it you should be fine... 9600's run it well too or so I hear.

    yea i have the source beta and it runs pretty smooth right now, but thats in dust.
