I need advice on a site where I can buy parts to build a better gaming rig or a site where I can buy a built system at a reasonable price.  I saw Alienware but they are very expensive.

    Let me guess, you're in the US?  Try Newegg.com

    TigerDirect.com and NewEgg.com are both pretty reasonable places to get parts. Make sure you read the reviews on the parts before you buy however as not all parts are created equal.

    I'm sorry.  I should have said I live in the US.  Any recommendation on parts so games like AoC, WoW, and the upcomming Warhammer will run smoothly?

    Next month the ATI HD4850 and the nVidia G200 release.  I wouldn't expect miracles out of the HD4850, it looks to be a little weaker then the HD3870 in its specs.  The real ATI heavy hit is in mid-july with the HD4870 said to run faster then the HD3870 X2.  It uses several improvements.  1st is the increased Texture Units.  It was the 1 limiting factor in the HD3870 and its now double so it should help.  Also it uses GDDR5 which runs on less electricity and is relatively smaller then GDDR4 which should increase performance as well.

    Not sure what the G200's add to the table.

    here are the specs of the g200 cards

    • GeForce GTX 280 will feature 602MHz/1296MHz/1107MHz core/shader/memory clocks, 240 stream processors, 512-bit memory interface, and GDDR3 memory as already mentioned.
    • GeForce GTX 260 will come with 576MHz/999MHz/896MHz reference clock speeds, 192 stream processors, 448-bit memory interface and GDDR3 memory

    they will cost 0ver $600 which is a total rip as the 4870x2 has been confirmed to sell at $500

    My personal favorite is Newegg. I shop Tigerdirect sometimes as well. Ever once and a while I find a deal on Fry's website and even more rare on Amazon.com. I never go with Bestbuy. They're always way overpriced.

    Newegg is my place to shop.  I never shop on Frys website.. all their best deals are in store. Tigerdirect is okay, and Directron is good too, but Newegg usually beats them hands down.  Depending where you're located too the 3 day shipping can get there in 2 days or less.

    Price range about 1k to 1200.  Which upcoming graphics cards look like they will be the best?  I was thinking of getting 2 GeForce 8800gts.

  • AznmaskAznmask Member Posts: 178

    PSU = $100

    2* 8800GTS = around $400+

    Case = (depend) $50-100

    CPU = $250+

    Motherboard = $150

    harddrive = $100 (can get 500GB)

    DVDrw = $30

    4GB ddr = around $70+

    Vista =$99

    i think it might over the budget... for $1.2K.. ..what is the benefit for sli? why not just get a 9800GTX rather buy 2 8800GTS.

  • CleffyIICleffyII Member, Newbie CommonPosts: 3,440

    Sometime July is the speculation with more then just the HD4870 512MB, but also 1GB and 2GB versions.
