AmarouszAmarousz Member Posts: 5

Well... Im planning to buy a new computer for online gamming, and im not so good with all that specs.

I want to play games like AOC, and of course Warhammer. I want to play them real smooth and without any problems.

What you people recommend me to buy ?

What graphic card, how much ram, what proccesor, and all that sort of things, including if i should go trougth Vista or XP.

I can afford from $1.500 - $2.000...

I'll apprecciate your help... Thank you

I'm in no way an expert in PC specs or anything but I would use at least 1 Gb of RAM (2 Gb would be even beter) and a decent Video card, at least GeForce 6200 (or higher).

I think that's the most logical and I'm almost sure you probably intended to have that, but that's my humble 2 cents.

    Cheers!

I picked this computer up for my son the other day and it runs AOC and Warhammer beta great.

    www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp

    Highlights of the specs include:

    • Intel® Core™2 Quad processor Q9300 with 4 processing cores, 1333MHz frontside bus, 6MB L2 cache and 2.5GHz processor speed per core
    • 4GB PC2-5300 DDR2 memory for multitasking power, expandable to 8GB
    • 640GB Serial ATA II hard drive capacity (320GB x 2; 7200 rpm); Gateway Portable Media Drive Bay for adding an additional, removable hard drive (Portable Media Drive not included)
    • NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT graphics with 512MB onboard memory; DirectX 10 support; S-video out and 2 DVI connections; high-definition audio (8-speaker support)

Its one main weakness is a 400W power supply, but it can easily be upgraded should you ever need to drop a 2nd 8800 GT video card in there or something.

I was able to purchase a nice 22" monitor for about 250, throw in the 3 year walk in warranty, and with tax got out the door for about 1700 bucks.

So far its running everything great, just be sure to buy a DVI to DVI cable to connect the monitor. (it has an adaptor, but better to pick up the 20.00 cable instead)

Oh yeah, comes with Vista 64 Home Premium or something like that.

You have nice system spec's, but why the hell have you got a monitor , for the same price as the PC you could get your Son a 32" HD-TV so he can also use it for his xbox360/wii and cable tv box.

Ok well the big question here is will you consider building this yourself? Or are you looking for a pre built system?

Depend on the answer, suggestions will be very different, so I wont go into any of them right now.

That is too expensive.. i dont know what make the difference, but my pc i pay like 1/3 of your price I score 10,000+ 3dmark 2006, and i can play AOC in high quality. Remember guys you dont have to spend alot of money to build a game system.  As along as u got a cpu that is Quad or Duo with 2ghz - 3ghz, or 2gb+++, and a video card atleast 8800GT+ 512mb. Then you can play most of the newest game.

    Quad 6600 2.4ghz 8mb

    3GB ddr2

    250gb,

    8800GT 512mb ( paid $150)

350WATT PSU  (still runing 24/7.and haven't give me any trouble)

    24inch lcd widescreen

TOTAL around $900 or less.. (pc + lcd)
