Looks like there is talk of the old frontier servers on Daoc to become a server option but the usual 2000 players has jumped in a few days to 20000+ (and riseing)players im not sure why they had such a jump in players but thought it may be related to this and WAR looks like Mythic is holding on to Daoc nice to see they have time to look into Daoc with being busy on WAR and all.

Alot of people left when they started adding stuff like master levels and artifacts to the game. They lost the biggest chunk of players after Spellcrafting.
Now that they are going back to the old layout without all the uber shit players are coming back to one of the best games of all time.
It make sme sick though that Archery is not a "casting" type of class. By that I mean it doesn magic style of damg instead of melee. WHO THE FUCK CAN RESIST AN ARROW TO THE HEAD!.
I like the NF, or did for a long time. I've long since stopped playing DAoC.
ToA killed DAoC for most people, not spellcrafting.

http://www.camelotherald.com/news/index.php its barely 3000 at prime time. Just let the game die and move on.
I dont know why it says that on the site but Im logged in and it says 22000 players are online and it shows around 900 -1000 in every server, the player counter logged I think is more accurate.
No such thing as luck, just believing in it is what makes it real to you and really...thats all you need.
Im on nobodies' side but my own.
My guess is they are waiting for Warhammer to come out to drop the hammer on DaoC.

If the OF server can support itself there will be VERY little need to pour resources into the game. That and the rumor of a multigame sub. package would lead most people to believe DAoC will live for a while. Why pull the plug on a game that needs zero in the way of patching, updating, etc. and is making money and has a decent player base? The "let it die" comments are a joke from the fanboys with the "I don't play it so it sucks" mindset.

Once they get a nice reputation for making WAR they will make DAOC 2, their own IP and score a lot of dough and they can probably reuse their experiences and parts of engine and code!

I love DAoC. I'm not playing it right now, but I might go back to it for a bit before Warhammer. Even about 4 months ago, I could jump on for an hour or so and have some fun in RvR. Usually with a lower character in one of the battlegrounds since it was easier to find solo action, hehe.
I completely agree. They basically forced their core-DaoCer (The RvRer) to spend mindless hours PvEing to compete in RvR. OK, some of the ToA stuff wasn't game breaking, but it definately gave a clear advantage. If ToA hadn't released, I'm somewhat sure I'd still be playing the game.
I'd be surprised if Mythic ever considered a Dark Ages of Camelot II. It's not a very creative setting. With money and success they can afford to spend the resources on a more unique and interesting concept. Dark Age of Camelot was a good title to develop for them at the time, but they can think bigger and better now.
I logged in early tonight as well and saw the 20k players on the game ticket too, so I asked about it in game, and most everyone on Gareth were positive that the ticker isn't working right and that at most there were only 4k playing among the clusters.
As for the game, I just started playing 2 weeks ago, for the first timein 6 years, and I like the game the changes thus far. The PVE is improved from what it was, granted it's not LOTRO good, but it's good enough for me to play.
