i feel like such an idiot. i subscribed to the stress test without thinking. After i went and mindlessly gave em my credit card number and downloaded the game (i also fell for thier 3 month trick) i have finally came down from the euphoria of thinking i was gonna get to play . Bull! i realize now that although this may be a stress test it's also just a psycological ploy by blizzard to crete more hype. There are gonna be so many people on this 1 server (yes i said ONE server) that we will be lucky to even log in let alone actually play the game. And if a miracle does happen and we can log on, i guess we can just stand and admire the scenery cause the lag is gonna be so bad i doubt if i will be able to even move...let alone play any kind of game....Makes me soooo mad i may not even buy the stupid game. bwsides EQ2 is gonna blow this game away isn't it obvious!!! Sheesh!

I already replied to this in the other thread you typed this in.
"Don't be mad at Blizzard because YOU thought you were going to get something good out of this. It's a STRESS TEST. What did you expect? It's going to be laggy as all hell. It's not Blizzard's fault if you didn't read and understand that fact. "
But I wanted to add:
If you had paid attention, you would have known that you didn't have to pay a single dime to get into the stress test. I've got my free CD key...the game downloaded...and ready to go as soon as the test starts.
I second that.
Honestly... some people need to -think- occasionally, and not get so excited when something comes up, making them rush through everything and miss important info.. jesus.
can i third that?
also, take a highschool "following directions" test, c if u can pay atention long enough to pass it...makesm e feel stupid since i was the only one in my class who did O_O.
I fourth that and second this: OWNED!

The sress test is not so you can see what the game is like.... They are doing this to see how much a server can handle... But yet you jump the gun and blame a company because you didnt think this through enough. Almost all games have a stress test... what ignorance.
Edit: you should still feel like an idiot though.

2nd that notion.
Boy u mustve really mean in a rush to get the 3 month 'deal' :P. God i can see why fileplanet do that now . I just see it as an achievement that i dont get suckered into these things .
Beta Tested: Lineage 2, Ryzom, City of Heroes, RYL, EverQuest 2 World Of Warcraft European
Truly Loved: World of Warcraft
Yes you are an idiot for paying to play a beta for 7 days, something that you could have gotten for free through the same promotion.
Played: Asheron's Call 1, Dark Age of Camelot, Earth & Beyond, Star Wars Galaxies
Tested: Asheron's Call 1, Asheron's Call 2, Dark Age of Camelot, Eve Online, Lineage 2, Risk Your Life
Uninstalled ASAP: MU Online, Knight Online, Rubies of Eventide, Priston Tales, Star Sonata, DarkSpace
To the first poster: Isn't that what a stress test is all about? It is figuring out how much lag there will be per person and per area? So you have no room to blame Blizzard. It is exactly what they advertised: A test to see how much the server can withstand before lagging us all to hell. I am sorry, I am going to have to follow with the mob.
To the Mob: You sure told him...I guess.

I 3rd that notion!
Imagine how much money Fileplanet makes off people that are just in a rush to get something. When all they had to do was read the WHOLE page and see that there was a link that said you could get into the WoW Stress Test with out subscribing to Fileplanet.
Also WTH! You're mad at blizzard because the Stress Test is going to be laggy?!? They aren't doing it for your gaming experience, they're doing it to "Stress Test" the servers.
Sure it also helps the hype on the game, but making up your mind about a game over a 7-day laggy experience, that was suppose to be laggy to begin with, is just sad. Let alone the fact that you made up your mind before you even tried the stress test.

The point of the test is to test how many people can be limited to each server(and still run properly) and plan the ammount of servers that will be up before release.

Funny enough i remember AO stress test. Not one single person i know of could get past the log in.
Once you started loading into the world it was error galore.
But look at it this way fileplanet usually has some goodies to offer. So you will probably get your money's worth of the 3 months.
im really curious how the stress test will go.. on one side we have blizzard, who stands for quality, but on the other side it's 100.000 maniacs dieng to get on the servers.
beside the wow stress test they offer a "Tribes: Vengeance" beta.. its a nice online shooter.. i'm playing it right now .. its great fun
In my vocabulary this is:
- Extremely poor marketing strategy.
Blizzard are great at designing games. But doing such actions dont increase their fan factor, it actually directly deplete from it.
Now you are laughing at someone that fall into a ploy you woulnd...but the day they find another way to make you fall and you fall in, you wont be laughing anymore.
Stress test is good, but making some players pay and some other not paying throught well thinked misguided information is a mistake.
A great leader is not someone that willingly plan on the abusing some of his followers because they didnt understand something, it is the leader that manage to make it nice and fair for every player.
Any point the stress test could have given them is many times overcompensated by the negative experience they make a few persons experience in the long run, but even those negative points is publicity...

You should, you need to buy a clue. This is a first of a kind thing that I know of, and if it has been done before it has not been doing by many. So your complaining because they want to really see what their boxes can handle instead of guessing? You weren't around for the Anarchy Online launch were ya? I am gonna stand with everyone else on this one. Go have fun in the EQ2 threads and talk about what you obviously want to play there.

Anybody remember the first week of the Lineage2 open beta...........
I was there when it went final and it wasn't any better then. I remember the 3 whole days they gave free because everyone was up in arms so they decided it was free play at no charge til the game was "stable". Stable took on a whole new meeting that month.

I am not a FilePlanet subscriber, so how can I get into the WoW Stress Test without paying? I thought you can only join the test if you subscribe to FilePlanet?
Anyway, I may have even subscribed if the offer was for final closed beta. I read and understood what Blizzard was offering and I passed, knowing that it would not be a good experience. I don't mean the game would be bad, just that a Stress Test isn't really a good experience for ANY game, for reasons stated in previous posts above.
So I guess I will keep waiting and see if Blizzard will open the beta to everyone before release. Right now, I am back in the Saga of Ryzom beta and it is much improved from when I tried to test a few months ago. SoR may even keep my interest enough for me to forget about WoW altogether, until EQ2 arrives.
The problem here that a couple people aren't seeing is that we have two companies involved here. Blizzard, which made WoW, and Fileplanet, which is hosting the file. Fileplanet is trying to boost their subscription rates (make some money) with this deal, but in small print at the bottom you'll see that you don't have to do this. Don't blame Blizzard for anything. You simply missed reading past Fileplanets gigantic quest for increased subscriptions to see that you don't have to pay. Go ahead and yell at Fileplanet for being so sneaky, and smack your forehead for not being the most observant individual, but don't blame Blizzard. Although it probably wouldn't hurt to scowl at Blizzard for letting Fileplanet confuse people like that about their product.
