Having a great time.

Not even bothering listening or respoding to the trolls and viral marketers here, I'd just like to say to the few people actually playing the damn game or interested in checking it out  that I'm having a blast. Despite the bugs, despite everything else. I haven't had this much fun in PVP since UO 98', and I only just reached 40. Even if there's no consequence yet, it dosen't matter. Even if there's still alot of balance issues. At least on the Cimmeria RP-PVP it's been very exciting, especially with my guild being at war with six different guilds.

The graphics and sound have blown me away, the quests (although mostly still the same old) have interesting dialogue, the cities and zones are immersive with NPCs talking to eachother, ambient sounds like beggars and drunkards belching in the streets or crows flying above some hanging-trees in cimmeria. I love walking the forests and seeing wolves hunting rabbits, or stealthing around an enemy camp and plotting their patrol routes, or seeing a column of NPC guards marching through the city. I think it's great. :)

I don't even mind the zoning anymore. I have seen so many people in every zone that it dosen't even matter. I do however hope they implement some type of way for people to not be able to change zones so quickly.

I have had some amazing battles with my guild already. Not just minor skirmishes, but giant 30 vs 30 and more battles in cities like Tesso or out in the wilderness. And what's even better is that I haven't had any major latency or FPS issues during these huge fights with an 8800gt, which is a great sign for the forthcoming BK pvp.

I already knew that this was mainly a PVP game going in, but I've been pleasantly surprised by the amount of immersion I've experienced so far, at least on the RP-PVP server.

I'm not saying the game is perfect, far from it. I think the GM support is pretty embarassing, the quest bugs, PVP balance issues, absent promised content, etc etc. However, I've been around to see dozens of MMO launches, and I think I agree with most people saying that this one was one of the smoothest I've yet seen. And I honestly beleive this game will turn out great in the next few months of tweaking and balancing.

So I just wanted to share my positive opinion of the game, because I think there's way too much nonsense and  trash posted in these forums as usual.

Thanks for reading. :)

Waiting for Fallen Earth, World of Darkness, Old Republic, FFXIV

    AoC is a great game.

First MMO that excited me after EQ1.

I suggest everyone to give it a go, you won't regret it.

What's this? a positive thread in the top 10? someone is actually enjoying the game!

Game needs more polish past lvl50 and if in a few weeks these lvls reach nearly the same lvl of polish of the 1rst 40 then it's gearing up to be a great game.

Finally a post I can agree to

Sure AoC has issues, but  despite everything I'm enjoying myself, and even had some fun PvP with my guild. (only lvl 30)

That said, this game should perhaps have been worked a bit more on and maybe been released autumn this year, I do feel there are a bit many details that are unfinished. Nothing gamebreaking, but still.

So Funcom, you better not take no vacation till you've fixed many of these issues, otherwise petitions will continue to swamp them, and their customer support needs some more time with it's customers as it is now o.o

I guess we'll see wether AoC REALLY is a success or not within a year or 2.

i hope they decide to implement prestige classes by that time, those seemed fun, and I hope they only left them out because of higher priorties to be done on the game.

Anyway, as said, in the meantime I'm having fun

nice read in the mess that is these forums right now. I still think the amount of instancing was a stab in the back on FC's part. but its a turn off amongst so many turn ons.

    Greetings,

I have passed the introductory level of the game and started exploring its world. The artwork is detailed and very realistic, adding to the sense of immersion and addiction. All the images prove that graphics and animation are the result of a professional team.

I can't stop playing! The weird thing is, I don't know why!

There is nothing in this game that I haven't seen before. But the fact is with every step I take, I won't to go further ahead and discover something new. The combat system is balanced and there is a great variety in feats, combos, abilities, spells, weapons, and so on.

Sound is atmospheric, yet discrete. The enemies come in all shapes and sizes and have an enormous variety with good AI. There is always something interesting to do in the game and it gives you the sense that you are in control of things.

Bugs are enough, but that's something one should expect.

If the developers get down to work and find a couple of original ideas, I believe AoC has the potential to become a great title.

    Jim.

I agree, also having a great time still hehe.

44 conq here, even though the instance/zoning is a turn off and there are a few bugs here and there, i've gotta admit the launch was insanely smooth in mmorpg terms.

Also as i first ventured to the first "true" dungeon, Sanctum,  with a few of my RL mates, i was stunned on how large the whole area around the dungeon entrance was, i mean the fortress and huge towers with bridges leading towards it was something i rarely see and luckily the dungeon itself was amazing as well.

Just a shame there are not that many "true grp" dungeons as this one and there should be quite a number of bugs in some of them but a few of those are what i would call "funny ones", such as the one where you save someone and they're suppose to run away but then "hower" instead while the chains on them still remain so it looks like they are being "rolled" in some studio.

The combat system is what makes me want to play this game the most.... it's really great, just a shame you can macro it with a G-15 or the likes, don't have one myself, so i'm being busy enough.

The apprentice system in this game is quite amazing as well and really makes it possible to play as a lower lvl with a higher one.

Overall this game will is gold if Funcom fixes the bugs in the game and also release new content soon enough, which should have been in at the release ;)

But most importantly, this game really carries the Conan lore atmosphere along very very well, now and then i get the sudden "whoa! Am i in the Conan movie myself here or what?".

The game is a classic. Period.  I have found a number of bugs but despite that.. the immersion is incredible and today I was mentored to lvl 35 for a brief few minutes and saw a different fatality from the ones I"ve been used to.. that made my mouth drop in awe!  I am having a blast with this game!  The monsters are incredible to see and the bosses look amazing!

    MMORPG of the year!
