I was having a look over the EQ2 forum, as I was thinking about returning to the game.  Then I noticed a thread, mentioning that they had been given 60 days of freeplay time.  The person had only previously played the trial.

I thought this too good to be true, nevertheless I tried logging in to my old account.  EQ2 was my first MMO, and I have a soft-spot for it, for many reasons.

Lo and behold, both EQ 1 and 2 have been activated on my account, and with 60 days of play time!

Just wanted to let you know, in case you have an old account, and this happens to you as well.

Funny, as I had not heard of any special offer or anything from SOE.

thanks for the post. I just looked at my old accounts and noticed they were all activated as of June 1st, until August 1st. Plus it looks like they enabled a lot of extra stuff. I stopped with Kingdom of Sky and now I have everything up to RoK plus the adventure packs.

I am still waiting for my patcher to finish updating.  When you said that they included everything up to RoK, have they included that as well?  This new expansion is the only thing I did not have (apart from one of the adventure packs), and it would be awesome if they have included that as well.

I wonder why the devs have not made a bigger deal  about this.  I only found out about it because of a thread on the EQ2 forum.  There does not seem to have been any news about it.

Such a great offer, it is strange that they are not announcing it to web-sites such as this.  Even on SOE's official site, I cannot see a mention of this.

That's the marketing of this game for you! Sony like to keep EQ2 secret. Not sure how the developers feel about it.

Intresting to know I supose and might be usefull to some people but if I had any intrest in ever palying EQ1 again they wouldn't need to give me free time on my account.

Bah!  Offers like this always happen when I'm playing another game.  Bah!  Was on a two month break before playing AoC.

Well thanks for the interesting info anyway.

I've checked my Sony account and found I have free play time until the beginning of August too. I can't believe Sony aren't telling people! No, wait, I can.
  • nomadiannomadian Member Posts: 3,490

awesome its true. I got a 11 hour download to reinstall though...

  • SolidScapeSolidScape Member UncommonPosts: 28

Oh wow Majestico, thank you so much for the heads-up! I checked and I also am able to play until August. This is so great and comes at exactly the right time too -- I was just about to resub to EQ2 again. :)

I've not played EQ for years.  I used to feel like I was falling behind if I hadn't logged on for a couple of days, I can't imagine how detatched from the rest of the players I would be now.   Still, I've got some spare time, I might give the old girl a-good-seeing-to for old times sake.

I looked around and it seems that this '60 days free' thing is part of SOE's Living Legacy program/campaign:

    Whatever the reason, I'm happy.

I had a free month of EQ last year, so I logged in. I was excited about it at first, but my excitement was replaced by disappointment as I saw that they finally went and deleted all of my characters.

So, that was the end of my return to Norrath.

I haven't played EQ2 for 9 months. Will my characters still be available?
  • djnexusdjnexus Member Posts: 677

Aye, this thread went up before that news was released, which is why the questions about SOE not announcing it at the beginning.

This is great, as I was planning to return to EQ2 anyway! :)

One problem that I am experiencing though is that whenever I try to create a new toon, my pc re-starts.  So at the moment I am having to log as my old toons, but it's still good for nothing.  Does anyone else have this problem?  I am starting to think that something must be up with my pc, as it does exactly the same thing when I try to play Half-life 2.  As soon as it has finished loading, my screen goes black, and the pc re-starts booting up.

Oh well, it'll at least let me finally get my toons to a decent level.

Mahlo - I hadn't logged-in for over a year, and all my toons were still there, so yours should be too. Fingers crossed.

    Mine's not working.

I had a Station Account.  Does that make a difference?  I had EQ and EQII (along with a few other games) registered under it.  Now when I try to start EQII it says I need to resub my Station Pass.

Thanks for the post! As an old schooler its always nice to go back and visit, especially when its free. That's strange that I've not gotten anything from SOE via email. Perhaps since it just went out today its not reached some peoples emails.
