Lets hear the good news.

I've been reading a number of forums regarding AoC and as of yet most if not all of the posts I've read have been negative. Whether it is regarding weapons, armor colors, buildings and walls, combat, or even crafting everyone seems to have only bad things to say about the game. Aren't there any good points to the game? I haven't bought it and I'm not sure if I plan on it by the sounds of these posts. So lets have it, tell me the good points of the game.

When you are on the game playing it you rarely notice the time going by.  There are alot of things that can be fixed but if you just play it to enjoy it then its a very fun game.  Grouping is fun, some of the quests can be great.  One thing I like is that I can get a ton of quests and most of the objectives will be in the same area (zone).  I also like the fact that the game shows me where to go for my quest objectives...i dont have to go to some online website or try to find the stupid things through annoying quest directions.  I mean I like exploring the world and all that jazz, but when I just want to get on and do quests...I dont want to spend 2 hours going in the wrong direction. So kudos to them adding that in. I like that the loot drops are plentiful, and even when your in a group your bags tend to fill up real fast (which could become annoying if your in a deep dungeon).  The combat system is alot of fun, makes for interesting pvp encounters.  The armor syles and weapons  hold true to the lore which is also pretty cool.  There are other things as well, but I think the one thing I have enjoyed the most, is the 1-20 mini tutorial section.  I think all future MMO's should give you an option of leveling in a instanced 1-20 training area.  I dont know how many times Ive played other MMO's where the content is focing you to group for certain quests 1-20 or all the quest npc's are camped and you have to sit there and wait your turn.

The people writing the negative posts have nothing better to do, the people who like it are playing the game.

Comments about all games in this forum are negative.

I am liking it more and more the longer I am playing.  Graphics is outstanding, quests are great, dungeons are very nicelly done ( some don't work properly though ).

I played everything out there and AoC is by far the very best mmorpg on the market right now imho, and that includes being in Warhammer Beta that is horribly overhyped.

I heard there were some problems with crafting, anyone know whats going on with that? I'm not hardcore into crafting but I also find it nice to have more than one thing to do in an MMO.

    why are you here lol

    but Gizmak.

Just buy the game. You're going to anyways right :)

Buy the game and then tell us how YOU feel about it. None of us can truly tell you how great the game is. You are your own critique. Buy it and give it a whirl.

It's new and there is a foundation for a really good MMO in there. I need to get off nub Island so I can get past the trial griefers. I took the cruel world of Conan thing to the max and launched on a PvP server meaning, I am going to get to the top in the hardest, roughest fashion. That and I started with a less than optimal class. Age of Conan needs loyalty. I'll get back to you on if I have that for it.

Conan is a dog eat dog franchise and the attraction will cement a following. I just don't know how big a one or if it will be enough..

I think in the end, once all the release hysteria passes that the game will settle into having a good community and with a few more patches solid gameplay. I think this game will do as well as WAR, AION, and a couple of other MMOs will do later this year and next. By this time next year we should all have a good selection of games at our disposal. Until that time though...Im just gonna keep lopping off some heads!

    Cheers!

I really enjoyed playing AoC, while I had the chance.  I don't know much about the crafting, but I always able to get something accomplished, no matter how much time I had.  If you rush through the quests and don't bother to even read them, you may find yourself getting bored.  But, if you put just a little bit of brain-power into your gaming experience you'll feel like you're making a difference in the world.  I played a Conqueror, and found myself in an on-going struggle (a good thing) with what weapons to use, and figuring out which combos and feats/talents would work best for my overall goal with the character.

The reason I'm not playing?  When I received the CE in the mail from Amazon, I went to put in the authentication key only to find this, it seems that something is missing.

    Currently Playing: Nothing...I'm developing.
    Looking Forward To:

Honestly it s a game that you ll love or hate. When i first played it i did nt like it at all. That said i m spoiled with my WAR beta:) When WAR is released i ll be playing that for sure, but i more then likely will try out AOC again as my second game. I almost always have 2 subs going at one time. Theres always a few days a month i don t feel like logging into my main game and this is waht i ll use AOC for. We ll see if i like it then but those that do enjoy it now if it s your style i can see why. Time will tell with me but until then i have my game atm and will check back into AOC down the road.

The graphics in general are beautiful.  I have never been happier with my avatar, in terms of her appearance.  She really is beautiful, and I find myself turning her around and posing her in front of various scenic views just to catch a nice picture.  The last time I liked my avatar's appearance was probably SWG, but I think this far surpasses even that.  I've bonded with her

Also, some of the armor and clothing I have seen are the best of any mmo I have ever seen.  For instance, in the Tortage part of the game, I had this really cool cloth assassin looking outfit.  I wore it even after I got better stuff, just because I thought it was so cool.  Right now I'm wearing some animal skins.  Eh....not as good as the assassin stuff, but kinda sexy.  It reminds me of Clan of the Cave Bear attire or something.

There is an atmosphere to the game that is absent other games.  For instance, a war zone with huge spikes sticking out of the ground and bodies impaled on the spikes....and crows sitting atop the spikes or flying over head.  Big tress with corpses hanging from ropes, and scavengers circling overhead, crowing.  A waterfall with fish leaping up out of the water, trying to swim upstream.  Beautiful, white capped mountains, streams flowing the snow melt, cascading into little pools.

The music is awesome.  Also probably one of my favorites.  I don't think any music track of any mmo I have played so far exceeds AOC....maybe matches it, but in no way exceeds it, but this is a matter of personal taste.

The combat system is different than most mmo's, but fun.  Not sure how it plays out in later levels but I'm enjoying it right now.

I decided to roll a barbarian, which is kind of like the rogue archetype.  You deal good damage and get stealth abilities.  I'm not sure how much better my stealth is than other classes, but I do use it during the day to pretty good effect, you just have to be careful.  All in all, it's a fun class to play.

It has its many flaws and its many perks. It appeals to a certain class of gamers as well. It isn't like WoW where it is trying to distill itself so that everyone can semi-enjoy it. It is trying to appeal to the best of it's abilities to a certain group of people.

Whether or not you enjoy the game is your own opinion. You really have to buy it yourself to see, or at least if you need reviews first, don't come here. Come here for drama, flames, and pointless arguments about, let's say for example, the addition of dancing to the game.

You can find that article and much drama here:

    http://mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/191/view/forums/thread/183593

Check places like IGN, Gamespot, and the likewise; for the most part (The reason I say most is because I think one I saw called it so-so), professional reviews have been very positive.

Ok, so my griefs have been delayed. It seems I was bugged, making my game misery in the making. The night quests that you must do solo, I was given in Epic. Most of the quests I have done, I did in epic not understanding what that meant. It means alot harder and the solo night quests were impossible.

Today, I did the quest without the epic glich and it was a walk through.  (because I had over leveled trying to beat the epic version)

Bugs happen. It's unavoidable. It isn't something I use to judge a game. Especially not a new one. I will keep doing Epic as well. They are harder but closer to PvP I assume and better for getting a feel of what I will be facing after nub Island.

    I wrote a review here:

If you'd like to take a look. it's fairly positive, though it does acknowledge some of the problems the game has as well.
