I would imagine it's quite difficult to keep up with all of the Korean MMO clones out there.  There's one released like... every week.

It is on here. It is listed as: SystemHolic Online Rohan

This is amazingly funny how this game use the same engine as Lineage II and the same system. They only changed the classes and the skill system.

I'm not here to bash the game, it even looks more fun than L2 (for me), but i was just wondering how those compagnies can make game like that without being sued ?

Do they buy the engine or something ? Because i can't even count on my fingers the numbers of IDENTICAL games as Lineage II.

    Playing : Nothing
Waiting for : Starwars old republic
Played : UO, WAR, Eve Online, SWG, GW, WoW, CoH/CoV, Rose Online, Lineage II, EQ II.

Erm, Lineage II uses the unreal engine 2.0.

Erm, Lineage II uses the unreal engine 2.0.

So is that why all these Korean games all look the same, due to inherent look and feel provided by teh Unreal 2.0 engine?

I did give this game the lowest rating 1/10 lol...what a shit game, its only grind nothing much more. They force you to use the ingame item shop with horrend grinds and reset your stats/skill points cause u cant level up efficiantly with a pvp build...well suxx big time. Nothing new, nothing big, nothing really exiciting *yawn* - waste of our limited time.

Actually I'll say this right now I was skeptical that it would be like you said a clone but it is not even close to the normal Korean grinders we see regurgitated over and over again.

I'd like to share some screenies with you and some of the features and over all play of the game it isn't what you expect from a free game but it is quality and it shows.

First of all one thing that shocked the hell out of me is earrings show on your character.
    image

Secondly the combat is highly animated and is not just one slash animation it does a combination of animation depending on what you click it is very action animate and really doesn't get old it looks great and feels great.

The art in this game looks great and all armor sets have a different look and color to them, which is something you wouldn't expect from this type of game. The art direction greatly reminds me of Lineage II with a mix of FFXI. Weapons look different as well and you can craft and mix weapons and armor to make better versions. Here is a shot of my badass human knight.
    image

The mounts in this game are different and you can obtain one at lvl30, there are some neat mounts and I look forward to getting one.
    image

The combat system itself how it plays out is mostly buff skills and some battle skills it works like your old fashion mmos with a click the icon.

I will say quests are not abundant there is very little and it is very linear the point is to make you group up with people and that is where Rohan wins, the party system is quite cool and well made. There is a panel where you can put up a message you are looking for a party it will past your class and lvl for party leaders and other to see they can then invite you to the party and if you have a summon ring summon you right to that specific spot.

There is a new system in Rohan called the M. Kill System, M stands for Monster. Basically what it is as you kill monsters a ticker goes up it starts at 0/20 and once you reach 19/20 it will blink and make a sound so you know it is time to kill a tougher mob, when you do that 20th mob you get its exp x 7 and is a big boost to the lvl up time. Each new increment gives a bigger x bonus. It's pretty cool and really keeps the party active and on the look out.

Defiantly try it before you bash it cause it has a lot to offer that other Korean grinders fail to understand. I'm loving it and playing it casually along with LotRO.

Hope that gives you a good over of what to expect, also the tutorial system in the beginning is very well planned and will teach almost everything you need to know.

Are you kidding me, why should this be not a clone of all the other cash shop games ? The grind is horrend and starts already with lvl 18 going up to lvl 99, just play like a casual player and see how you advance in 2-3 hours daily, remember perfectworld takes probably months to get one lvl in the high end lvl area. Its the same magic, warrior, knight thing and a world where mobs await you to hang out for ours to kill em to get your 0.01 % at higher lvls. Nothing really new in this game. Well there are some people out there who like such games, i respect this but its really not my type of game, i want content and fun and not grind competition. If you like that alright, if not its just an exploit from the investors to make cash from you  and hold you so long as possible with low xp rates.

I never used the cash shops once and I refuse to. The features I listed are new innovations that are not done elsewhere. Sure it may feel like a korean grinder battle wise, but it isn't meant to be a solo game and that's what I like about it. It's about grouping up with your pals and jumping in the dungeons and having fun. You earn xp extremely fast with a group, if you only wish to solo, this game is not for you.

I realize it isn't your cup of tea and that is fine, it is not like I'm going to push you into liking it, but the OP wished to know what it was like and so I shared my review and findings within the game.

Also as a Lineage II player you can't even classify this game as a hardcore grind :P.

I've played the OB until lvl 30's and suddenly said goodbye Rohan, is not a game for casuals, just for hardcore gamers who play 6+ hours a day. Until lvl 15-20 you say...woah...leveling is nice...but after 25's is just retarded grinding for hours, many hours, to reach a level. (Seems nice at lower levels because you level up almost everytime you got M.Kill ready, but at 30's you'll hardly get a 2-3% with x19 exp that means every 100 soloed mobs without get ksed....easy to say....slow to do)

The game has plenty of bugs...but well that'll get fixed so i'm not talking about it.

Most of the quests are not worth it to do, since you waste a lot of time walking thanks to the teleporting system (which lacks). You can just teleport to race maps and some dungeons by buying a scroll, and just walk over the map.

Dungeons are for everyone, they are instance but everyone enters in the same dungeon, you hardly find a good spot to level in since it's full of ksers and there is a lot of people grinding in the same area.

Anything else to do than grinding? oh yeah...you can pk after lvl 30 and make Guild vs Guild at higher levels! you may ask...all that insane hard grind for just that? yes, just for that as there is not anything else to do.

I already knew how Rohan was going to be, since i've tried jp version but i was hoping they were going to change it a bit in this version.

So...from my point of view, if you are casual gamer forget about this game, in the time you spend looking for party and walking to the grind spot half of your free time is gone. The game could have been better if it released many years ago together with l2....but these kind of games are pretty much dead nowdays.

Edit to say that yea...lvling in party maybe seems "fast" at low lvls, but later on is not the same thing, that means you need to party always to level up and the real grinding begins after 40's or 50's

I read the limited information on the website, seems to be from the description you can have items looted from you when you die if pvp, can anyone affirm that or deny it?

  • NemeralNemeral Member Posts: 42

    It's probably part true, part false, since it's a deviate-clone of L2.

I didn't played Rohan but i guess it goes like that (based on L2) : Each time you die, you have a chance to drop items.

But they might have a different system... So don't take my word for cash !

You obviously haven't played this game enough to say this.

Nothing to do but grind - Okay, you've played for, maybe a day or two, because thats definately not true. (No one can actually give a real rating for this unless they palyed the asian servers anyways.)

Can't grind with a PvP build - Woah woah WOAH! Every build in this game is suitable for both grinding AND PvP. A tank in this game is good in PvP, and obviously PvE for tanking for example.

Sorry, but you have no idea what you're yapping about.

All of these Korean item shop games look the same to me. They all have the same art style and even the same font! It amazes me people play these. It seems like they shovel these things out by the dozen. I really don't get why someone would even bother when you can play things with higher production values and more enjoyable gameplay. Don't get me wrong, pickings for MMORPGs are a bit slim right now, but I think the options will get much better in the coming year.

I been playing Rohan off and on since it first started and for a Free To Play game its pretty cool. This is a PVP game like Linege 2 so if thats your thing then you will find fun here. If you are looking for PVE like WoW, EQ2 or Lotro I do not recommend this. Its a little buggy which I hope to be fixed but over all its good. If anybody wants to hook up I am on Torian Server. I have an Archer and a Dark Mage that I am playing.

level 40 to 75 is actually very easy.

    Level 40 - go Rakkhon,

    Level 50 - go Roha

    Level 60 - go Spire.

Lots of repeated quests. Just need a good party.
