Hello, gamers. I gave the WOW trial a shot a little while ago, and found it OK (but not phenomenal). It may have been because I thought that starting WOW was a lost cause (so I had the whole come-in-with-a-bad-attitude thing). Anyway...
...Honestly, could one legitimately say that it is too late for a WOW NOOB to start playing? I'm talking no alts, no real experience, nothin'. Or is it all cool?
How many of "me" are out there at this point? Should I move on to something newer instead?

I run into new players all the time. It's a pretty quick learning curve, so it's not hard to catch up. If there's a game you're waiting for, WoW is a decent filler.
There are plenty of new players around and if you join a guild then you'll be sweet. Plus the expansion will be coming shortly.
It's never too late to join. Since leveling isn't as bad as in other games, many people level multiple characters. As a result the world is full of lower level characters that people are working on. And, if this expansion is similar to the last one, even the best gear that all the level 70 characters have right now will be replaced as they level to 80. Great time to join.
Now is a good time to start. You'll have a few months to get to max level before the next expansion comes out, after which you'll be on a fairly level playing field with everyone else.
For your first character, I'd suggest you should play a character that's relatively straightforward to PvE with, or is in high demand. I'd recommend either mage or priest as good choices for a first character.
Unless you are very confident, it's probably not best to t start by playing a tank - if you do, experienced players may become very frustrated with you.
Also - as a new player, the best advice I can give you is to listen to the other people you adventure with, and take advice from those who seem to know what they're talking about.

Best site with information about the game... Has all you need from basic until advanced game play.

Never found a experienced WoW player who dont visited this site before
Oh, heck no.
WoW is easy enough to just jump in a start playing.
Leveling is easy enough and fun.
Lots of quests.
Quite a few new characters also, alot of ALT players around.

The thing is, it's a cycle of sorts. New players join all the time, old players leave. new players eventually become veterans, the same ones new new players wonder if they'll ever beat.
I've seen it happen at least four full turns on the server I play on.
i would say it is too late for new players myself
thats only for the fact that leveling now is a lonely lonely process instancing before outlands is a joke to find groups and even instanincing in outlands is a bit of a challenge to get a group together,
but if you do start now you will have enough time before everyone leaves their alts for the expansion though saying that the expansion probbaly won't be out for another 12 months hehe (( i think they mentioned the expansion too early))
i hace no idea if that makes any sense .. i too tired atm been up all night trying to put together new pc hehe

The things that attract people to WoW are pretty much timeless. It's a very polished game, with few bugs and few annoying features. You can play it in a variety of ways as both casual players and hard core players find many things to enjoy. The graphics were never cutting edge, but they are very stylish and easy to look at. It offers pretty much everything the other MMO's today offer without a steep learning curve or big time commitment. In other words, no it's not too late to start. The game is still growing in subscription numbers despite the fact that a lot of people have grown tired of the game after playing for a couple years and quit. That means that there are still a great many new players to the game that have not done all the quests or been to all the instances and are still eager to find other people in the same situation as you.
Another very good class to start out as is a Hunter. They are easy to play because they can do it all fairly effectively. They can stand back and attack at range with a bow or gun, but they can also swing a melee weapon failrly effectively. The pet helps with survivability as does being able to wear leather as opposed to cloth for a mage. On top of that, he has 3 viable talent trees to choose from. Basically a Hunter is a jack of all trades and can be quite effective in both PvE and PvP when played properly. They are a little more involved than some other classes because they have so many different aspects to learn but that's what makes them fun to play as well.
Yes it is too late, no high end raiding guild will want you. Go play AoC, it's better anyways.
It's not too late. And it also depends what kind of MMO player you are.
Also, join a heavy population server so you'll always find a group for some quests and dungeons.
JOIN A GUILD right away. It enhances the MMO experience. Going solo sucks, trust me.
This coming from someone who's leveled three 70s, one 69, three 60s, a couple 45s, and many under those.
if you are interested to go to the high lvl raids then you ahve no chance,if you want to start do it fast, there are some older players that reroll all the time but once wotlk comes out the old world will be preety empty.if you start now you can hit 70 before the expansion and you can even get to see some nice dungeons, there is no need to rush it and try to get to good raids since when wotlk comes out all those items will be obsolete,if you do hit 70 and you are bored go pvp it is faster and allot easier than high end pve.
and even if you start after wotlk you will hit 60 before all the rest hit 80 so there is not allot of caching up to do

How much is "so many"?
and do you have a full list of the people who actually "CANCELED" thier accounts!?
I just started playing WoW about 2 months ago, I"m up to level 62 now and have no doubt I'll hit level 70 well in advance of WoTK. There are lots of non-raiding guilds that will help you progress through your quests. I'm in a very small non raiding guild but I have made friends along the way that are in the big raiding guilds and as long as your not a total tool, the friends you've made will normally invite you on runs. I haven't gotten in on any of the BC raids yet, most of those raids are all 70's, but I've been on some of the classic raids (gear isn't great but its damm good expereince, really learn how to play your class).
Also for a newbie I'd highly recommend starting as a Blood Elf or Dreanai(sp?) as their starting zones are very polished with clear quest progression and background story to level 20.
Terrible lie.
I have to admit, I got lured to WoW by my friends and played it for 2 weeks about a month ago. I was counting the bugs I encountered:
All together, there was about 20 bugged situations that appeared every hour. Maybe you are used to these combat, loot bugs, or the invisible/unmovable mobs, but please DON'T tell me this game is bugfree and polished. It's been 4 years out, and is bugged more than many other lately released games.
REALITY CHECK
I've run into the bugs your describing, but in 62 levels I've only seen 4 mobs evade (out of range), and this was only in outdoor zones, never in an instance. I've also been attacked by mobs I couldn't see twice, again only in outdoor zones. In each of these cases I ran out of range sames as I would if I was actually trying to run from a mob I could see, and then when I came back the problem was gone.

Hahaha thillian, trully you are living in another world. Why did you go back to wow??? You detest it then for months procliamed Vanguard wass the best mmo, what happened to Vanguard. Thillian get a grip and maybe stop jumping form mmo to mmo.
Everything you say about wow just cannot be believed, really you spew so much crap its untrue.
Seriously, I appreciate your interest in me as a person and what kind of games I like.
Iam usually subscribed to 3-5 mmo's at the same time and if you would be interested I can tell you my life-story and explain you why do I have so much time to play.
Anyway I did subscribed to WoW for 2 weeks with a hope I might enjoy some parts of it for some time with my friends, but i didn't. I left it basically immediately and one of the reasons were the mob-bugs that ocasionally even made me die.
Vanguard is still my main MMORPG.

And I really appreciate your advice about me getting a grip and not jumping from mmorpg to mmorpg. It opened my eyes.

You're exaggerating terribly. The first several examples you describe are all part of the same problem which is that a mob has bugged out. It does happen, but no where near as often as you suggest. I will normally see one or 2 mobs that are bugged a play session which is about 3 or 4 hours. Anything more often than that is really rare. The way you are describing the problem you have this happen about every 3 minutes. I did encounter this problem a bunch one particular evening I was playing in one zone, not sure what was causing it, but that's only happened once. And in most cases all that is required is that you leave the general vicinity of the bugged mob, it will reset and you can continue playing normally, it doesn't cause you any signficant problems. If the problem were as widespread as you suggest, the forums would be going crazy about it. Also note that not everytime a mob "evades" is it bugged. In most cases when a mob "evades", it's because you have moved out of it's chase range and it's resetting. That's normal behaviour. The still being in combat "bug" after a mob dies also happens from time to time, but again it's rare, maybe once or twice a week and it only takes like maybe a second or two for it to clear. You're playing a client-server game for cripes sake, you're going to have little issues like this every now and again. If it happens as often to you as you suggest, I would check with my IP provider because you might be having frequent lag spikes which are causing the problem. Which server do you play on? Might be that you picked a bad server for where you are located. You might try a different server and move your characters.
The loot bug you describe above does also happen, but it only lasts like 10 or 15 seconds, after that time you will get a message that you can't loot the object, but then if you try again, it will work. You do not need to logout to correct the problem, it will correct itself in a few seconds. And this problem is rare as well. I usually will encounter this bug about once or twice a week if that often. And again, all it requires is that you wait for 15 seconds for it to clear itself.
I've not experienced the escort quest bug you describe, however this is one quest within thousands and this doesn't happen every time on this quest, because I have done that escort quest about 5 or 6 times without incident.

You died to a bugged mob? That hasn't happened to me in like 3 years. LOL

Yes. I saw all this bugs in-game many times. They are not common but they happen.
Many WoW players use the AI exploits in some situations leaving bugged mobs behind. Some of this bugs are related to this.
They should pay attention to the classic game areas too. There are people who wish to play as other race except Blood Elfs and Draenei.
I started playing a couple of weeks ago.
So far I am having fun with the game as there is always something to do. I can see though why for someone who has played this game for years would be bored with it though.
I am focusing a lot more on PVPing in the battlegrounds and leveling up my professions as a level which makes the game more enjoyable as I am able to soak everything in slowly to truly enjoy the game.
It is definately is a drastic change of pace from Lineage 2 for me but I welcome it honestly.
I'd say now is a good time to join, honestly. You won't be behind for very long.
As long as you hit 70 before WotLK comes out, you'll start it on the exact same footing as everybody else. Maybe you won't have a swift flying mount yet, but it's super easy to grind up gold with all the new dailies. The point is that you won't be behind in gear. Each new expansion is such a massive reboot of gear power levels that people will probably be throwing away their 70 epics for the green quest rewards at 72+.
Even if there wasn't an expansion, you could just sign onto the youngest generation of servers like I did. I went to Velen, which is one of the newest west coast servers. Not quite as much entrenchment, even if the economy is less-developed.
In any case, WoW is not a game which really has a bunch of ubers dominating everything. Even if you're into high-end raiding, you can climb through the guilds on your server with some dedication if you're good at your class. For everything else, there's really no ceiling for newbies. Crafting, to an extent, is tied to running instances and raiding. Most of the good epic recipes are instance drops, and the really awesome epic recipes require raid-drop items to craft. Of course, if crafting is your primary activity while playing a MMORPG, WoW might not be the game for you.
In any case, there's probably one factor you're not thinking about at all. When Blizzard launched TBC, it simultaneously launched a whole new generation of servers for those who wanted to start fresh with that expansion. Velen, my server, was one of them. Atm, I think that generation is the youngest for US servers. When they launch WotLK, I'd wager that they'll do the same thing. If you really want a totally fresh start, maybe waiting for WotLK is in your best interest.
Anyway, not saying WoW is good or bad. I'm still subbed but not playing it because of things about it that pass me off. But what you're worrying about is not really a big issue for that game, not at this time.
Cairne is a new US server that was launched this year, 4 months ago
may want to try it
its the only new server that launched in 2008 that did not allow character transfers
Ghostlands was the other new server for 2008 - but character transfers are allowed on Ghostlands
