After playing WOW for 3 years, then bouncing around to some other MMOs, such as EQ2, I've finally settled in to this one.
Outstanding graphics, cool quests, immersive world.
So far, I've found few bugs, usually pertaining to quest dialog. No crashes, just all day fun.
What are you waiting for? Collector's Edition is $9 on Amazon!

I'm waiting for the developer company (SOE today) to show me that the game has a future bigger than a few bug fixes. Bottom line, why pick Vanguard when SOE gives bigger support to EQ2?
SOE is currently promising a lot for this game.
totally revamped characters and customization are coming very soon, and soon after that the trial island will launch which will basicly be a relaunch for the game. The head designer Silius has even talked about doing an expansion toward the end of this year or early next year. The game's really looking up and is LOADS of fun.

I personally found nothing wrong with his post. If all he wants to say is how much he is enjoying the game, whats wrong with that?? As a matter of fact, how does it feel to have your worthless post flamed for its insensitivity and general rudeness. With never reading any one of your other posts, I'm not impresses either!!
As a matter of fact, I recently started posting in these forums to try and dispel some of the mis information, conjecture and untrue information about Vanguard. The game is great and people should know it and possibly why. I wont go into the reasons I like the game as I have many times in other posts, including another games thread. BFD, right?? No, it isn't. But spare us too from your lame attitude towards others.

Who cares what you think? i would prefer idiots like you stayed away from the game anyway. Its thicko`s like you who still cant get it through their glass skulls that VG is not the same buggy mess of a game it was a year ago. When the penny finally drops for trolls like you, most in the game will be top level and you will be back to being the noob troll you are.
To be fair the nubccake probably hasn't even played the game or know anything about it, just read what some other people wrote and went along with it thinking he's cooooool. LOL
The game is amazing! Best mmorpg in such a long time! I hope your right about expansions and stuff, means money and devs joining the team to help progress faster All is amazing, I never heard of the game last year, but then I didn't really like mmorpgs as I couldn't afford them nor had the time to play them, but now I do this is simply the best to date!!!
If Vanguard should prosper, we need more developers working on it. For more developers, we need more players. Right now, we suffer from an all time low, at least of highlevel players (theres coming new blood into the game, though), because people play AoC right now. Outside of raids, my guild has shrunken to 1/3 of its previous size, and even during raids we have some people in status MIA.
Our guild has suffered from the same thing, people checking out AoC. But some have already returned and have brought new friends. They were more disappointed by the instance factor, but thought that the graphics were good and some of the combat action cool too. I'm sure they plan on bouncing back and forth to keep up on any advancements AoC makes. But all said and done, they claim VG is their home. I can only hope this holds true because we are half way through APW and making some real progress finally.
Good luck and Peace!!
Wats a APW?
Glad you like it. But the game lacks some key elements such as well thought out and implemented PVP, meaningful impact on the game world by the players, favors crafters over adventurers in terms of best way to earn gold, and as others have mentioned, is sorely lacking in players.
I'm glad to see SOE keeps making it better, but I'm afraid its probably never going to reach its full potential, as they didn't move fast enough recreate its image.

True EQ2 is the much better MMO, it gets more SOE love, has a bigger player base, and is nowhere as buggy as VG, This is of course secondary to the fact most players here that were gonna try VG already have when it was released and were ripped off by a poorly done, over hyped, very buggy release. Burnt once why bother keep throwing good money away after bad?
I suspect VG's player base is the same core player base of elitists that on its release kept saying the game was perfect, and that anyone that had any trouble with it were newbs, with $500 best buy computers and weren't hardcore enough and shouldn't be allowed to play in VG anyway. (not making this up check the old Vg threads their community is that rabid ) With a mature comunity like that even if the game was fixed who'd want to be in that crowd?
I suspect Brad is on a breach somewhere even popping Hydrocodone (Vicodin/Lortab) and laughing.

Mmmm I would'nt be to sure about that, the numbers of people playing and making positive post on forums is growing so who knows it may end up with a respectable amount of success ( which I think it deserves ). Anyway maybe your right but with a Trial Island on the horizon and Dev's that do seem to be making a huge impact in fixing Vanguards problems plus the chance of relaunch you never know.
Also just because the PVP is'nt one of Vangaurds strong points it stands as a great PVE game anyway.
That said I do agree that cool PVP options would make it brilliant ,for those that love PVP anyways.
I think the pvp even in controled areas would draw more people in. Maybe have seperate areas (islands or another continent ) rich in resources and loot drops that could be contested over by guilds. This would add excitement, drama , and more to the end game (other than raids).

No thanks. PvP oriented people always believe that pvP will "help" game X. There are plenty of PvP oriented games for you to play. We dont need to change every game to PvP in order for it to sustain itself. Not everyone likes PvP. I do believe it is probably the more popular of the two but that is only because there are more small minded, e-p**N waving griefers on this planet than there are people who like to explore and adventure.
Im not suggesting everyone who likes PvP is a moron but a lot of the arguments I see for PvP lead me to believe that the more vocal of that demographic are very selfish people who have to have everything their way. If they dont get what they want they bitch and moan endlessly in order to invoke some kind of change.

Or they steal the frontiers and realmranks etc from DAoC and implement it into VG. = Finally a new 3-faction RvR-game *grins*

One thing I would like to see would be guilds able to wage war on other guilds. I am not a huge fan of pure pvp servers, mainly do to griefing and such, but it would be nice to increase the population on those types servers as well as Xeth and Seradon.
Some of you people are way too touchy.
I never even implied that I didn't like Vanguard. The OPs post looks like something a Shill would post.
Maybe he's not one, but the fact that his 1st post on the boards was this is very suspect to me.
I was thinking about giving Vanguard another try, but if the servers are filled with people like the ones that posted in the boards here, I don't want any part of that community.
Pointing out someone who is paid to post on gaming sites isn't a slight on Vanguard.
In fact, it shows your myopicness and mentality in so far as the game is concerned. I'm not here to slag the game down. I liked Vanguard , but my PC wouldn't run it very well. I've since upgraded and was gonna give it another shot. I really hope that the afforementioned behavior from some of you previous posters is not indicative of community as a whole.
If it is, there will be nothing any developers can do to get people to come back and stay because you'll just chase them away. Get over yourselves and stop being so touchy.
The communities on Xeth and Halgar are fantastic and extremely helpful. People get touchy on these forums because people come on the VG board simply to try and "stir the pot". I wouldnt let your experiences here dictate whether you give it another shot or not.
TBH, despite my dislike of most PvP, if they were to make it like DAoCs RvR, that would interest me. DAoC is one of the few PvP games I really enjoyed. It was STRUCTURED and the PvP had a point. You actually felt like you were part of a large scale battle and seing a whole army ride over the crest of a hill to face you was pretty epic.

I'll be honest. I played Vanguard for a few months and disliked it.
It's not about the graphics and quests to me. I absoutely enjoyed the fact that crafting and poltics were highly developed in this game. I thought the political aspect was a first....definately good on that note. But seriously...I just don't enjoy games where a mage (or psionist) has the same spells. Or worse, when Spell Blast I becomes completely useless because you just bought Spell Blast II.
I didn't hate the game; I just didn't feel very unique to it.
I prefer a game where you have a pool of spells to choose from and you get a single choice as you progress in level. In this manner, not every level 25 cleric has the same capabilities as every other level 25 cleric.
In World of Warcraft and similiar games (EQ2), you get talents; That's an offset that allows "some" uniqueness between characters. I'd like to see most systems allow a spell and ability choosing system where the choice is important because you won't be able to get the other [spells or abilities] until a later level.

Vanguard is an excellent game, but only the individual can make that call.
PVP is most certainly NOT a strong point in this game, but plenty of others to choose from.
Almost all the classes have had revamps, updates, or significant changes since its release. These changes are an attempt to add more balance to the game as many classes were not performing as intended upon release. Sony has done an excellent job in this respect. But keep in mind this game is being developed to be more of a community game and grouping is encouraged if you really want to see some of the best content in the game.
I had a similar opinion on the spell upgrades issue at first. But in retrospect, I see how they may have intended a person to learn their class and its abilities, so when you are in the high level areas, combat does not turn into a zerg fest. A person has to know clearly what and how it is going to effect the mob. Keep in mind there are unique spells added to your spell/skill book as you level, not just Spell Blast I - X and many others just like it. Some may consider this to be "dumbing down the game", but its more of an attempt to keep pregression timely and fun.
Take it as you will. I have played since day one, had a difficult time sticking it out, but have, and now enjoying this diamond in the rough to see that it has become one of the best MMO's available.
Good luck and Peace!!
Yeah Vanguard is definitely an aquired taste, mainly because it does some things quite a bit different than the mainstream like WoW and LotRO. Some things are exactly the same though too. The one thing that makes the game awesome is just kicking back and exploring. If you can turn off the more recent habit of powerleveling to max and instead just explore on cruise control, doing quests etc the whole way, you'll see how the game is great.
Yeah it still is pretty buggy compared to other games. I just don't let it get to me. The vistas in this game are amazing, and I can't wait to see the insanely awesome dungeons I've seen screens of.
The PvP sucks ass pure and simple, because PvP is an afterthought in this game. It may never get any meaningful or good PvP because TBH they barely have the time to advance the PvE side of things. In fact, they are barely starting to catch up to par, and then looking to actually do some cool updates and maybe an expansion.
The game isn't for everyone, but that's not a surprise to anyone. If you like cool dungeons and exploring new stuff all the time, this game is probably the best out there ATM.
