As I read the official forums I see some people have reached level 80. Is the game really this easy to level your toons. In fact one guys has a level 80 assasin and a 56 demo. Are they skipping quests? The game is not even a month old and they are maxe already.

some people used exploits to level very fast, but even without exploits leveling is quite fast so i think hardcore players that were in beta and knew the game a bit from there can also be 80 without exploiting in the short time.
i am about lvl 45 with my mainchar have 2 alts at about lvl 20. i have not played much more than 4 hours a day in average and spent also some time with crafting/harvesting. usually in a 3-4 hours playsession i can gain 1-2 levels on my mainchar. if you look at hardcore players that easily play double the time that i play its probably no problem for therm to reach 80 in that time.
I can't answer that really but one deserves a response nevertheless.
I only have one character at 29 so far and can't see how people got to 80 so quick. I solo and duo mostly so mayhap that is the equation. This is my first run though. Some have been in beta.
I just want to add a few points however. I think the terms "easy/hard" can be misinterrupted when talking about the time it takes to level. What people could be talking about is a timesink instead. Whether that timesink is challenging is up to them.
Edit: Woops late response on my part.

wow thats fast though. I have 6 level 10 characters and cant decide which one to play. They all have there strengths and weaknesses. I am leaning towards my priest. The first 10 levels with him I dont have to do anything one lightning bolt and they are toast and they guy next to him is almost dead. I played a demo but the pets seem to really not do much damage. I dont know. I just want to get out of tortage and see if the game gets better.
I think some people are using exploits or weaknesses in some of the game mechanics.
From lvl 1 - 45 or so you can level pretty quick doing solo quests. The quests give great xp roughly equal to killing 20+ mobs your level.
At around 46-47 you pretty much run out of solo quests that you can do at your level and start having to either grind mobs, grind repeatable quests that give xp on the order of 4 mobs killed, or you can group and do group quests and group grinding.
Grouping doesn't really provide much advantage for grinding as the mobs take longer to kill and you get about the same or maybe a bit less for killing mobs of a similar level solo. Loot grouping is also no different then solo other then the bosses tend to drop some loot in the dungeons.
I probably have near 100 hours played and I'm currently lvl 50. My quest book has mostly group quests and maybe a couple that are non group I can just now do at lvl 50. Most of my xp from 47-50 has been grinding in groups or doing group quests.

Anyone who is level 80 already either:
a. Exploited game mechanics to level up fast
b. Cheated by having his character played 24/7
c. Has no life and probably smells really really bad by now due to the depends on not bathing.
Honestly there is no way someone leveled that fast in a healthy manner. The game has been out for 15 days. Funcom stated that it would take a legit player 240 hours to get to level 80. So that means that anyone that is level 80 now has averaged 16 hours per day for 15 straight days.
I personally have averaged about 3 hours per day over the last 15 days and I am almost 43. ( I didn't play at all Memorial Day weekend since I was out of town)
Currently playing:
LOTRO & WoW (not much WoW though because Mines of Moria rocks!!!!)
Looking Foward too:
Bioware games (Dragon Age & Star Wars The Old Republic)
yes it is. I play 2.5 hours a day and Im almost 60. If the quests didnt start drying up at lvl 50 I would easily be lvl 80 right now. (and for the record I do not exploit nor cheat or dupe)
And popular to contrary belief, there are many people who are lvl 80 who DID NOT exploit and cheat.
The biggest thing that amazes me about AoC players is how fast someone can point another person out for exploiting without evidence or if they got there already they have no life. Truly amazing. It reminds me of CounterStrike when some dies of a headshot and broadcasts it out across the server that the person who killed him has an aimbot.
If you have a strategy of hitting multiple quests and do them in a specific order you can go from lvl 20 to lvl 30 in just 2 days of casual gameplay. (3 hours per day)

funcoms own estimate for the *average* player is 250 hours = 10 days /played
makes sense that hardcore people can do be 80 in much less time

This is the first game my casual self considers raising alts while maintaining a presence in the end game playfield. Up until now it was either a choice between raising alts and never experiencing end game or raising just one character but experiencing end game content.
So it's not all black and white. I do predict that some vocal hardcore people will cry murder to the fact that they will reach max level and wait their asses until the rest of the server catches up.
For those that are clueless about what casual means, I didn't play this weekend due to a trip but will hopefully have 1 hour of gametime tonight. Some days go by without a single hour /played, some with a couple. Some weekends if I'm lucky I get to play a lot more than usual.

I got AoC last night. I played 1 hour just doing the beginning quests (freeing the girl, killing the fat slob and monster). I killed all mobs on the way including the gators and I am level 10. Enigma, what server are you on? I don't mind restarting as it was so easy to get to where I am now.
I just got 80.. two days ago.
1-20 :: few hours
20-45 :: 20 hours?
45-80 :: 2hrs per level MAX.. most less (depending on PVP action)
So, 95hours/15days ~ 6 1/3 hours per day. I usualy played around 4hrs a day, some nights went kinda long when the exp was too good to pass up... hell, I got 70-77 in like 10hrs when I had monday off work.
is it easy to lvl i was lvl 41 this morning i went to a new area picked up 7 quest did them within 20- 40 mins and handed them in lvl 42 nearly 43
Leveling can be a chore almost. And from my experience with AOC and WOW there is power leveling guides that are very helpful. They will tell you what quest to do, what areas are best suited for your level, so that way you dont waste your time doing other things that can be a head ache. I found one AOC power leveling guide that has been pretty helpful to me here Age of Conan Leveling Guide
I havent played in a month...

80 Harold of Xotli
72 Necro

39 ranger
25 assassin
22 bear shaman

depends what class you play also i have a 80 ranger took a long time 70 tos can kill mobs alot faster levels twice as fast

once you reach lvl19, you go to son of death spot with your high lvl clanmates, you join their party, and you start leeching xp, actualy when a mob lvl 80 dies, it gives you the same xp you get when you solo kill a lvl 20-25 mob at your lvl, the thing is, son of death grind is aoe, where you kill 20mobs per pull, you just need good group and a good clan that can keep the spot safe and up by switching players for very long time, so you go from 19 to 40 in one day, 40-60 in the other day or 2, then you reach lvl60 you get teaching and you start doing dmg like every one, you need 2 or 3 days to get70, then lvl80 which you did this wy in less than 10days.
I did almost exactly the same thing at level 54 except I think it took slightly longer. Most of the quests are too easy, even the Level 50 Destiny Quest which was a bit pathetic actually.
I like trying to do the quests that are slightly too high level to make it more interesting, I get wiped out quite a lot but at least when you finally complete them you feel like you have achieved something.
Quests give large amounts of XP & many have interesting plots, but in general they are a bit too easy.
If you can't "Have your cake & eat it too", then how can "The proof of the pudding be in the eating"?
