Most defnitly worth it to play this game. In my opinion its the best mmorpg available today, but thats just my opinion, and ive played them all including conan this is my favourite, and no im not a diehard fan ive only dabbled in it actually but its good. But thats just one mans opinion, there are many more that may hlp to sway your opinion on it.

If you're asking me personally, then the answer is yes.  Vanguard is the best mmo on the market right now (in my opinion).

Here is a recent review from Massively (an online gamer magazine). -Posted in a thread here with comments and remarks from current players.

    Hope this helps :)

I don't have a xfire, but my name (in-game) is Aimen.  Feel free to look me up or say "Hi" when you get in.

I 100% agree with the other posters.  VG is one of the best MMO's on the market.  At the moment I'm playing AoC but cannot see me lasting after the 30 days free time is up.  Even now I'm itching to load VG up, but promised myself to give AoC a fair chance.

No bloody claustrophobic instances in VG. And VG is actually not that dumbed down quest driven game. Group of 3-4 people doing dungeons still have much more fun and level up faster than playing alone. The world is open, no invisible walls, no impassable mountains. There are flying mounts that can be used from level 1 (altho not permanent, that requires to finish difficult level 50 quest), regular mounts are cheap and available at level 10.

There are 19 races, almost each with large capital city, 15 classes. Combat system is actually much better than the one in AoC and requires more planning and thinking but less button smashing. There are around 70 different dungeons. Hundreds of cities and camps, you can own a house and place it almost anywhere in game. You can build a ship. There is crafting which actually involves your attention. There are crafting attributes (shaping, utility, refining, problem solving, ...) that you can customize. There is diplomacy, that is an actual card-mini game and provides lots of lore and background information about the game apart from the strong buffs you can get by completing diplomacy quests.... etc etc.. VG is unique. You will hardly find a game currently on market that would compare to it.

I've been playing Vanguard for a month and it's amazing.I completely recommend it. It's like playing Oblivion but in a MMO world .Hundreds of quests and a massive world to explore. It also has the most impressive graphics I've ever seen in a MMO game .You wont be disappointed :)

I play both VG and AoC. They are both good games but very different. The one thing they have in common is that they both look beautiful but also that they need a decent computer (ok that's two things however connected).

AoC: Nice combat system, interesting start with Tortage and the single player part (first 20 or so levels but you can switch between multiplayer and single player whenever you wish to).

However also very very linear and lots of zoning. But zoning is ok since it takes about as much/little time as the "hitching" in VG.

No harvesting until lvl 20 and no crafting until lvl 40. I haven't tried crafting in AoC yet, but does not seem to be very well implemented from what I have read elsewhere.

PvP-centric game, guilds can build cities and fight against other guilds. On pvp-servers the pvp is completely open, meaning - expect griefing and camping, you might or might not like this (I play on a pve server to avoid this).

Vanguard: Also a nice combat system, but slower combat than in AoC, AoC is more action VG more tactical (not saying AoC battles don't feature tactics, cause they do).

Open world, much more of a sandbox MMO compared to most other titles out there. You are not handheld much at all in VG which you are in AoC (just two different ways to do things).

Crafting and harvesting from lvl 1 with a great crafting system.

Leveling speed in Vanguard is much slower than in AoC. Actually I would say Conan is probably the fastest MMO to lvl in that I have played (even faster than WoW).

    PvE-centric game.

Vanguard has a lot of races and classes and is high fantasy. Conan has only humans as player characters but a decent set of classes and is low fantasy.

    Hope that helps.

thanks for the responding, hm.. ill try VG first.

  • tumper92tumper92 Member UncommonPosts: 92

    vanguard sounds very good..

but does it take ages to make all the funny stuff ( like pvp and all that ) ..

and is it takeing long time to get the high lvl and all that ? :)

  • ThillianThillian Member UncommonPosts: 3,156

PvP? Vanguard is PvE game. If you seek PvP look elsewhere. ANd yes it takes quite some time, in addition the gameplay IS much harder and less forgiving. One mistake and you're dead first 20-30 levels. At higher levels you will become stronger and will die much less.

This is hands down the best mmo out to date.  Its launch was terribad to say the least but it has come a LONG way since then.

It offers some of the most in depth gameplay and makes you feel like your really a part of the world.  Crafting, Diplomacy, Adventuring, to just sailing the open seas this game is amazing.  If you can run it, play it.

  • OBK1OBK1 Member Posts: 637

If you choose VG there is a pvp server, which has open pvp. But otherwise it is only pvp by consent, like dueling. VG really is a very pve-centric game.

If pvp is what you really consider fun I would try AoC or wait for WAR.

  • tumper92tumper92 Member UncommonPosts: 92

i just search for a game who got it all, PVE and PVP...

  • ThillianThillian Member UncommonPosts: 3,156

You should ask that first. Vanguard is no PVP game. Absolutely no PVP. I do not consider AoC/WoW/WAR/... PvP games either. PvP for me is a game with fully lootable corpses, politics, zone control. Not mindless pvp grindfest for some silly points ->gear. Nevertheless, the PvP on pvp realm in VG is FFA, with no real meaning.

and what game would u say would be like that ? :)

  • HiromantHiromant Member UncommonPosts: 99

Eve Online is exactly like that.

I'm also considering buying Vanguard and giving it a go, too bad there isn't a free trial of any kind. I do have one question though, is the monthly fee the standard 15$ / 13€ and as a European can I choose to pay in dollars and save 40% of the cost?

I agree EvE is a real pvp game, but the pve there sucks.  In games out on the market right now, you either get good pvp or good pve, so you have to choose which you like most.

Shadowbane is a game like that.  PVP looting exp penalty and guild vs guild warfare.  But games can be good games without PVP and VG is one of them.
