LCD monitor or LCD television for gaming?

ShastraShastra Member Posts: 1,061

I am going to upgrade my old 22 inch monitor. My wife wants to get 94 cm Samsung flat television, Its compatiable with PC but i have no idea if image qualtiy will be worth extra 500 bucks.

Is it better to stick to monitors for gaming rig or Lcd television is a better option. Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Its better to stick with monitors.  TVs usually have lower resolution unless your using 1080p/i.  Also thier refresh rate is slow.  Its ok for television, but for games instant reaction becomes a part of it.  That and they usually use an HDMI or D-SUB jack which pushes less data to the monitor then DVI.

go for LCD..... Make sure buy a good brand, because those cheap LCD's quality is even worst than those old CRT..

remember not all LCD is same quality, what you pay is what you get.

You'll end up spending twice as much for a TV worth playing games on.  Either way Samsung will do what you're asking as far as gaming whether using a monitor or TV because it allows for clear picture on fast motion and most of them allow of DVI and HDMI input.  Plus they are more affordable then sony and usually have a low ms response time, great resolutions, and a fantastic contrast ratio.
