Comming from some one who hated this game, i can now say this is what EQ should have been.

This game is so fantastic now, i wanted a game that was as good as old school EQ but i now believe VG is better than old school EQ. Its ashame the terrible terrible launch and the horrid months after really left a bad taste in players mouths because this game is something fierce now. SOE should give VG the living legacy promotion too because it is now fantastic.

I love the dungeons the dungeons are unlike any mmorpg out today. Its like WoW dungeons almost but more realistic and more fun.

10/10 the only thing SOE is doing right.

I'm having fun in LotRO for the moment, but I would definately check it out again if it was added to the Legacy promotion.  I may not resubscribe, but at least I'd be able to give it a thumbs up if anyone asked me about it (assuming it's as good as you said).  In the meantime, I'll wait for the trial version.

I've been waiting for a trial too but from what I've read it sounds like they're trying to develop a common newbie starting zone, like EQ2 has in their trial.  The newbie/tutorial are would be nice but since its been in development for so long, why won't they just let people try the exsiting game?  I feel like a guest coming to dinner but we're not allowed in the house until the host has everything just right, meanwhile we're out in the rain.

    (nearly vomits)

    Yes.  I currently play Vanguard.

    Yes.  I currently play EQ.

    Yes.  I pay for both.

Yes.  I pay for many EQ accounts.

No.  I do not think this what EQ should have been.

What, specifically, makes the game so fantastic?  Spare no detail.

I have played VG twice and both times it ran very poorly on my system.  The bugs where a game killer for me.  With that being said, I haven't tried the game lately and will definitely give i another try on my new system.  I thought the game had a lot of potential and worth a third or fourth try.

This game certainly is not a bad game. In fact, I enjoyed it for my month. I just didn't like the tiny population.

How can you compare it to EQ, though? What makes it similar to EQ, other than being a fantasy MMO?

Just recently tried it and did not like it.

They have fixed a large number of the technical issues.

    But :

    *  World is still very large and very empty

    *  NPCs are still mostly static, unmoving, and dull

    *  Many things are still 'broken'.  If not in reality, then in concept

    *  Not a whole lot of folks around

    *  Still has zoning problems, graphics glitching, and lag spikes

    *  Still has sound and positional issues

Really, WoW is 100 times more 'alive' than V:SoH.

It had a chance, but it failed.

It is only a niche game now; it will never be mainstream.

    Oh well.

performance is still greatly lacking and i really hate the chunking that is still going on

i just love it when the whole game freezes for a bit and then restarts with you in the air and then landing onto the new chunk

This game has mammoth potential.  Not what I would say EQ should have been.  I would agree that this is what EQ2 should have been.

/agree 100% with all except the EQ2 "should". I really don't know if anything should or should not be.

But I do also agree that the dilsike for the game can not go unmeritted. Heck I was very angry at VG at launch. There is still bugs, you need a mid-high lvl machine at this moment to play, low population.

But things are better now and I enjoy the game

The vast potiential is maybe why SoE bought VG I believe.

The game, in the future, could see 50k-100k subs
