coming back to gaming and need an idea

RoehonRoehon Member Posts: 44

Hello

I've been thinking about getting back into MMORPG's now for a few weeks now but don't have much of an idea witch one.

I played FFXI for a few years but can't seem to get back into it. I also tried Everquest 2, WOW, Lineage 2 and LOTR when it was in beta but they really didn't do much for me.

The only game that really got me going for a bit was EVE but I hated the fact that I couldn't get out of the ship and I really couldn't find much community at the level i was playing.

Any idea's would be helpful on up coming releases I should look into or older games that maybe still very active. Something in the Sci-Fi theme would be good I liked the feel of EVE.

thanks

The need for a deep, different sci-fi MMORPG is enormous.  Not a WoW sci-fi.  Not a linear gameplay type of sci-fi, but a new and different SWG-like sci-fi.  I am thinking millions of subscribers, at least one million:
    1. Questing that is meaningful
    2. Customization on new, sophisticated levels for class, appearance, professions, etc.
    3. Progression that requires thinking, some strategy, and real-life choices (hmph, should I combine animal medic with beast master?)
    4. Content that is varied but abundant
    5. A world that is that:  a world.  Nothing cheezy.  Audio that enhances immersion.  Visuals that make you blush and your heart sink.  Travel that feels REAL.  Exploration that feels exciting.

Roehon, we all (well, millions of us) want what you are looking for.

    Developers keep making WoW-like games.

It's nice to know I'm not alone in my search, but was just hopping something promising was on the horizon.

I'm just looking for an end to cookie cutter missions and WOW carbon copies.

What do you think of Stargate Worlds?  They aren't do to come out until 4th quarter this year or 1st quarter next but I'm kind of excited by them.  There are different advancement lines depending on profession, scientist should not even need to kill anyone to advance (others will of course) and the worlds will of course be accessed via a Stargate.

I've never looked into Stargate Worlds but, I will. I'm a fan of the show and from what you said about scientist it my be more group oriented then other MMO's. Like i said, I played FFXI for a few years and loved the fact that grouping was so important.

I liked playing MMO's because of the people, if I wanted to play solo I would just play one player games.

    Thanks for the suggestion
