MMOs currently playing: -
About to play: Lord of the Rings Online
Played: Anarchy Online (alltime favorite) and lots of f2p titles (honorable mentions: 9Dragons, Martial Heroes, Dekaron, Atlantica Online)
aw 40 yr old virgin....
this thread made me laugh.
Nah but in all seriousness guys there is nothing fun in this genera playing Oblivion felt more like a mmorpg than anything currently out.
I think there are some problems here that require more attention then your loss of interest in the MMO genre, good luck with that.
*edit* so seriously, I recommend you go back to EQ2 or EQ1, as they seem like fun games at the moment. Or if your into the niche, AOC is also nice, but Try it before you say its bad please.

The thing you said about AoC is about the most intelligent thing ive ever heard from these frorums about AoC. Well back on topic, if you could list games you have already played, i could give u some suggestions on what to try.
I too am in an MMORPG funk. I even tried ffXI yesterday in desperation. Even the uninstallation process was miserable.
My MMORPG.com rank is inversly proportional to my actual mmorpg activity.

Who the hell said AOC was bad? I played it from launch it needs some major fixes in group PVE, Itemization and class balance besides that its not a BAD game as you say i say it was.
I'm desperate too. I have an account to LOTRO but can't bring myself to log in. For some reason it bores me.
I downloaded EQ2 because I got the free two months, but after playing AOC I just can't go back to ugly. Maybe if the art had some kind of flair....I don't know. Maybe if I could make a character I could look at and feel happy with. Even SWG had better looking characters. This is my opinion only.
I'm kinda bummed I didn't play during my free month of SWG. I regret it. I know I shouldn't play....make a bold statement or something...but I'm more interested in having fun than making a last stand. If I could only erase my precu memories, but it's hard when my best gaming moments of all time were there.
I loaded up WOW the other day. It's already to go. Credit card is on my desk. I really shouldn't, but atleast with WOW the game runs smoothly, is relatively bug free and the art is well done. Granted, the art is not like AOC, but it does have a style that is not all muted shades of brown.
My credit card is here right in front of me. I stare at it. I look at my book case with all the mmo's stacked up in there. I read the forums here and some other places. I make a post or two and the time I would have spent gaming slowly evaporates.
If you're going back to single player games do yourself a favor and try <<Mount & Blade>> if you haven't already. You have absolutely nothing to lose. You can download it for free to try it out, it just shuts you down after a while if you don't buy a key to unlock the full game.
As for mmorpgs, I've just about admitted to myself that I'll die of old age before they get out of the rut they're stuck in.
Yep, I've played Masters of Orion 2 about ten times in the last month. That and Planetside are all I play now, lol. I think ALOT of us are in MMO purgatory right now. In the gaming department, it feels kinda empty and lonely.
I might play CivIV again since I've played it tons before. And maybe boot up Stronghold-2 again. Playing the original Thief game was also fun. Played the hell out of FEAR and Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. So I'm not itching to play those again.
Ya, MMO purgatory for sure...
/whistles a tune, bored off his ass.
Luckily, i don't need you to like me to enjoy video games. -nariusseldon.
In F2P I think it's more a case of the game's trying to play the player's. -laserit
Welp? lmao
Haven't played an MMO in 6 months,COV and Eve last year,COV was the same old bore and EVE just wasn't for me,great game and all i just couldn't find it in me to mine ore for the next 6 months. Not after EnB
So i went back to my roots and play CiV3,Renegade,and TotalWar. and maybe download an add on for Oblivion once in a while.
Nothing present in the MMO world today really sparks my creative juices, everything is more or less a Leveled Grind fest with loot being king.
All handed to you as you progress through a predestined story/quest line. So i can be the same as 1000 others. It makes me feel like a widget on a conveyor belt moving along a factory floor.
I am with the OP in leaving this shallow genre behind until something unique and inovative comes along,
that rekindles a love for the game world i inhabit. That allows me to be unique again.
ok sorry about that tough you where a troll
Me too. Except I'm not much into games that don't have the massive multiplayer. So that leaves me with nothing.
Once upon a time....
I used to play FFXI for 3 years, It was actually one of the better MMO's ive played. and Ive played a lot of them. I to have been getting bored as of late. WoW and LOTRO just bore me but I have stumbled onto something Interesting. Shin Megami Tensei: Online.... Its in Japanese but all in all its a good game.
Its skill based and you dont pick a class when you make your character. There are the basic Magic user, fighter and Gunner skills. You you can mix and match and make a Gun Mage or whatnot. Everyone has the capabilities to have a Demon which is like a pet on any other game but you have to build up you negotiation skill's and stuff and try to get the demons to join up with you.
They are always adding new content and its Free....... They do have the Item shop to buy stuff with real money but you dont have to buy anything to progress in the game like others. I know people that are high lvl's that never bought anything in the Item shop.
So if you want to try something new and like anime this game is worth it. There are guides online that have the quests in English so thats not a problem and Ive translated some Japanese sites to help out too. There are quite a few English speaking Klans in the game...... If you want more info just PM me.
I work everyday of the week. I'm not allowed to play games or watch movies. I have no book to read...there's nothing to do, I buzz forums but when you visit these places everyday it turns into the same old stuff, this is both the easiest and hardest job i've ever had. I've been looking at FTP games because I can't afford another PTP. I play COH/V regularly. I need something different to play quietly on my laptop at work when nobody can see and as a mental break from COH. It looks like there's a fairly standard lack of support amoung ftp though. Anyone know one that is decent and runs well. i tried 2moons(aka dekaron) but...it wont run 95% of the time. I'm thinking about rappels and maybe even something like flyff.
thanks for the help
signed bored and lonely...seriously i'm in a basement alone...just me and the clock...it might get destroyed...
