Countdown has stated

Two weeks till this game will be judged on the subs.   Im sorry to say there is simply no way in hell that I will reniew at this point.  Funcom is probably right now starting their next PR campaign to try to get ppl to subscripe next month but who belives one word of what these guys say now ?   They have conned, cheated and lied about the game and its content from pretty much day one.

Im just gonna make sure that I chancel my acount in time cause I simply dont trust this company for not charging me automaticly.  It seems like thats gonna be their way to get some extra subs.

Most companies do charge you automatically....unless you cancel your account before hand.

Most of what was to be added in the game is being added in patches n fixes. But I do wonder, why after 5 years of production, including many setback dates they released this game with alot of missing stuffs.

Tho I am taking my time workin up in this game I see some things that should have been released, and I hope by the time I get to the areas things are fixed.

What ever happened to crafted items being better than most drop items? So crafting would actually become a part of the game...so far it failes there.

Cities have no use except decor for the guild.

The main reason for being in a guild was to get benifits from the guild city.

I am enjoying the game...reminds me of the fun I had in GuildWars. I will prolly continue to sub...prolly till I hit max lvl with at least one character...then see how the state of the game is by then.

I am with OP on this, at this point I have very strong doubts about paying for a game in this state. Once the whoa-factor from superb graphics wears off you notice that there is crudeness and unfinished code everywhere.

I can't wait, I'm sad they'll not be giving AoC money, but the community doesn't need you.  Bunch of whiny spoil children who have no job or life besides getting to the max level and looking for bugs.

I doubt that the subscribers will notice much when it comes to people unsubscribing,

the only press release you'll hear about subscription numbers are how much they've gained, not lost. If at all.

Even if there are many that would leave before the free month, there would probably be enough subscribers left for Funcom not to call it a failure.

Why are there people who haven't even played the game commenting on it? That makes no sense?

Amazing how many people don't like this game  but they just cant stop thinking about it. I have a feeling some of you will be back after Warhammer is released. Until then, hasta la vista.

    why?

war beta is more complete AND polished now than AoC is right now (trust me on this)

if they manage to somehow fix the incredible amount of missing features and bugs then maybe

they still have 75% of content to add to live up their bold statement that the world was as large as WoW w/o expansion

    have fun

Don't worry! Funcom released with a head and shoulders. The rest of the body may be missing or barely recognizable but that's what bandages (patches) are for! Anyways, I think 6 months is a better judgement basis than just one, but since this is the free month I guess it's good too.

    No it is not

War beta is executed in a way you can just experience a really small part of the game, the performance is not optmized and if you try to judge War just for its beta you will have a very incomplete experience.( I really cant say more about it )

Someone that say that he experienced more content is War beta than AoC at the release is a lier.

No one should trust in you, when you lie about AoC and War beta you are just hurting both games.

First, there is no reason to use lies to let a game you dont like down.

Second lying about War shows you are not a serious tester, and this is as negative to War as your lies about Age of Conan.

Yeah maybe when Open Beta starts. But even then, they're still doing focused testing (SMART). Only the NDA will be lifted. This means you're experiencing only a small part at one time. So yes, to say it has more content while it's still in beta may or may not be true. But if it feels like what is available is more polished or complete than AoC...first off, that's his own opinion. And if it happens to be shared by alot of people, well, that's bad for AoC.

I wont believe a game will be released and have any kind of polish until i finally witness such a thing.  name a game to me that's come out already and i might consider.  and i don't count junk free2play games.  i played AoC beta and i thought it wasn't that bad, it's biggest issue to me is the graphics engine.  But i also work and havn't gotten past level 32.  otherwise it's a bunch of small individual problems that come together to make the game suck sometimes.  again though, show me a game that hasn't had that problem.  WAR will be the same, they just might have it easier in the graphics area... since it looks crappier than WoW.

I've been playing AoC since open beta and have been loving it.  It has been the best launch of any MMO that I've experienced, and I give Funcom a lot of props for building a really beautiful and subtly different game.

To the OP or anyone who agrees with the OP - would you please detail your complaint regarding "they have conned, cheated and lied about the game and its content from pretty much day one"?

Hehe. I agree if warhammer sucks when released, aoc will suddenly get more popular. I think its time FC send in an assassin to kill paul barnett (dude with sunglasses).

What he said is not just an opinion, was based in unreal facts.

The idea behind testers believing war is more polished and has more content than AoC in beta is not even real. each of these games focus in different aspects of a mmorpg.

There is no War between Warhammer and Age of Conan, they are very different games, some will enjoy both some will enjoy just one.

What is bad for AoC and War is people using one to atack other spreading misinformation about both games.

Sure, hell I'll take a shot at this.  I could be wrong, mind you...but I'll do my best to translate it for you.

I BELIEVE that what he is referring to is the fact that the game was heavily marketed as "Super Awesome Siege PvP game with DX10 support, Great combat and uber AWESOMEZ bar fights and such to feel like Conan!" and what you GOT was "Well, we have great combat!" painted over a very simplistic and tired MMO format.  They didn't even have completed content throughout there game...forcing players to fall off the rather nice story and quest series to delve into the boring grind that most AAA games left some time ago.

Beyond that, I suppose that, if you wanted, you could view many of their pre-release choices as shady and viral in term of marketing.  They definitely kept a tight lock down on any information getting out about the game...and the open beta (which....wasn't an open beta) and early access were both very well controlled so that no one could have ever seen the mid-to-late game flaws that have been springing up around here.

Basically...as far as content goes, they've only actually hit ONE note right.  That note being their combat.  Everything else promised to you guys over the last few years is noticeably missing.

don't forget that AoC recommended reqs is actually the minimum reqs  i'm above recommended requirements and i still have to play on low with most things turned off to keep 40-60 fps.

to be fair though... if some how you can handle the high settings, the game does actually look really really good... but i think to do that you have to have top of the line everything...

Try putting your settings on High, and disabling all of your shadows. Also put the memory cache all the way up (It's the first thing under textures). Appy, and restart the game...that will probably fixx your problem. It may sound stupid but trust me and just DO IT.

I have no faith that Funcom will ever reach the "hype" they put out for the game in terms of content. So many bugs I would not even attempt to list a fraction of them. Bugs are expected in  release but I have never seen so many major issues in any game. I wentt through Shadowbane startup and it was horrible but ran like a dream compared to AoC.

    1. The armor/weapons in the game doesnt work. It simply does not give you the boost in skills the stats attached say. Simple basic part of the game doesnt work. Even the worst released games at least the basic items function at release.

    2. Skill points have no effect on your charactor. You can put 500 points in run speed and you see no increase in speed.

    3. Blood money and PvP not in the game. A basic reason many bought the game. What was promised was not delivered.

    4. Horrific memory leaks like no game I have ever played. Crash and burn on a duel core 3GB new pc at least 4 to 5 times a night.

    5. Funcom customer service? this may be a patch in the future to actually put that in game.

It is not even worth my time to continue to list the problems this game and company have.

I had very high hopes for the game and it is a total failure at this point.

    1.  Frankly, I like it this way.  Games that emphasize gear over skill only reward the ubergamer.  And certainly you don't think that this will stay broken for long?

    2.  Only certain skills.  In fact, as best I can tell only Run Speed *isn't* affected by skill points.

    3.  PvP isn't in the game?  Tell that to the 4 people who killed me last night.  Bounties and such aren't in yet, as they are still working on a system that will not result in griefing.  Take your time, I say.

    4. I played for a combined 9 hours over the last 2 days.  I crashed out once.  Took me about 15 seconds to get back in.

    5. Yeah, I'm sure the CS guys are just sitting around watching TV, reading books, and laughing at not responding to your ticket.  Hell, what else could they be doing in the second week of the release of their game?

Give up on AoC if you wish, but be mindful that if you are doing it over peanuts like this you might not be playing in the right genre.
