On EU aoc forum , there is a post about latency spikes. It started happening since the last patch.
Basically not everyone is affected , but those that are - can not play the game at all due to 100000ms network latency.
There is several posts about it on eu forums , largest of them amounting to over 700 posts !!!!
(all together over 1400 posts)
And out dear funcom
Did not even find fitting to post one small answer
Funcom, how far will denial tactic lead you ?

Bye Funcom
Dont think its funcom fault.
Past October-November 2007 I had an issue with EVE disconnecting me ever 1-2 minutes of gameplay (just a bit more than a miner's laser takes to run a full circle). This was totally unexpected, since I was playing the game flawlessly up to that point. As you can probably understand, I was really frustrated. I head to the forums to see if I was alone on this. Apparently others had the same issue as well, spread all around Europe.
CCP never answered to that thread, or my email regarding the issue. Then some day it was fixed. Luckily for both of us, my subscription didn't run out so I continued playing. Until this day, I don't know if it was an internet issue or something that they did to the client (problems started after a game update), or both.
This is not an excuse for Funcom. I understand and sympathise with the frustration of all the people that are having lag issues with the game, making it unplayable. If I were them, I would have cancelled my subscription and came back only when I was assured that the issue was resolved.
But the above issue is not something that has plagued only Funcom's games.
Edit: Lobotomist, are you still playing the game? I thought you cancelled long ago.
Aye, something like that can be backbone issues.
There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
I cancelled since i am too affected by the bug.
If I was not... I would probably play one month. AOC is not bad game. It is somewhere near Tabula Rasa.
Quite fun for one or two months. And than you leave looking for real MMO experience

The only real mmo died Nov. 15 2005, so get over it.

You must have missed the part where it talks about Funcom's reputation to give the best customer service in the MMO industry. I mean, if they say it themselves, I'm sure that it'll pretty much be the truth.
Jokes aside though, I do agree with your complaint about Funcom's seemingly lack of concern for its player base. While it may do nothing to solve the problem, a simply post from a Funcom dev. or GM acknowledging the problem and promising to look into it goes a long way.
And what would that be? Saga of Ryzom?
Sounds like the instances crashing. It has been happening a LOT of Cimmeria server. It's odd too because the game lags/latency bar goes red but people can still talk in group or OOC and usually people will be observing the same lag and sent to the login screen.
If its anything like AO, chat server and game server are 2 different systems. You could connect to the chat server using a java applet and talk to your guild even if the servers crashed.

Yup 99% of the time it will reset to login. Very rarely your connection will go back down to green. And yea I played on Cimmeria too and the instance crashing was really bad in EM.

Yup the community server is the one you chat on (I think) . There's actually a little bug with that too, if you get booted off and relog quickly then you might fail to connect with it for some reason. It's a pretty minor issue though and happens rarely. When it does happen though you can't perform guild functions or talk to people in guild chat. It probably happens because the community server still thinks you're online or something, when your ping goes haywire.
Curious 10.7 million subscribers think the end of 2005 was the birth of REAL MMassiveORPG.
You know the variant that lets a massive amount of people actualy PLAY instead of complain.
Yeah, and Britney Spears makes the best music, since 1 billion ppl listen to it. And apart from that those 10.7 millions all play on small 5k max servers. Whats so massive about that? You get the same populations on many games, since they have fewer servers. And then there is EVE that is the most massive MMO out there. Please quit your wow-tard mindset and think a bit.
Give us SWG back please!
Learn to read. There are posts from Tarib about the issue.
Massive under the wrong M. Now you've jinxed the entire MMO community -- suddenly WoW's player base will drop to 500k, and everyone else will get 50k, so WoW will be the only game to ever survive, and the dark ages will begin.

For a billion people or whatever yes she does. Just because she went crazy and people fixate anything brittney related to the tabloids doesn't mean her music sucked. Using your logic then Intel must suck? Coca-Cola must suck? Ipods must suck?
Popularity must always equate to dumb people or something? Please stop using stupid analogies that don't equate to MMOs in the slightest.
Precursor, you just described AoC in a nutshell. Good job!
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware
"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."
Go away Troll. At least get your info right for your own sake, you look like an idiot... not saying you are.. could be though.
You need to visit the WoW forums more... they complain more than here...
