Ok so I downloaded the free trial and done the tutorial and I'm bored of mining and agent missions cause it's just the same thing over and over and some people told me I can make money ratting or something so I go to kill some npc pirates but it pays peanuts and it's boring too. So it's like how do I make money in the game to keep buying new ships without being bored to hell? Everything atm is soooo repetitive and atleast in other mmorpgs the quests have some variety and exploring the envrioment is actually fun. However in EVE all the envrioment is normally is a picture for a background and then astroids with a little building and some npc pirates sitting by it.
All I want to do is PVP but I just feel like the game isn't rewarding me at all for killing players but punishing me. The game makes out that killing other players is wrong and yet it's the only fun thing about the game and if my security rating goes down tooo low I can't go into safe space and yet it's like I havn't won in PVP once. All that happens is I got to say 0.4 in a Kestrel and before i've even loaded up someones podded me and i'm thinking to myself what kinda shitty mechanic is this? Why do they allow people to camp at gates in this game? Atleast give me fucking time to load up....
Everyones got bigger ships and more trained skills than me and if I want money right now I have 2 BORING options of agent missions or mining............
There should be like Battlegrounds where you don't loose anything for new players so I can actually learn without it costing isk because I really can't be bothered with sitting there for days transfering ore into a can or doing the same agent mission over and over.
There also need to be better envrioments and some good PVE instead of gaygents.

Is this some kind of combined trollpost, bringing together the most common beat-a-dead-horse-posts?
You already said you don't like eve, so what's this post supposed to achieve?
Can I have your stuff?
EVE has to camps... Love it or Hate it... I guess you hate it and probably should move onto something else...
He's pointing out the fact that he can't deal with not being led by the nose and think of something to do other than what the game has directly told him he can do.
Which isn't a bad thing - Eve is a niche game for a reason and I think it would fail (hard) if it ever tried to appeal to a mass market (see NGE - oh look, I made an NGE reference! Can I has a cookie?)
EVE requires considerable preparation before you ever think about starting the free trial. I downloaded and thoroughly read about 1/2 dozen beginner's game guides from the Internet before I ever got started, and then re-read them several times in the first few months of playing.
I spoke with many other players, and patiently trained up my skills and earned my ISK.
Not everyone is willing to put the time into learning the game, and that's OK, its really not made for everyone.

You sir, are a liar, When you jump into another system your ship is cloaked for 1 minute before the game decloaks you. This gives plenty of time for your screen to load and decide a course of action to avoid being ganked, If space hasn't loaded by this time then there is something wrong with your system and not the game. If you can't avoid a gate camp in a frigate then you need to learn to play the game. Frigates align very quick and can warp away from near any gate camp.
GAME HARD VV
Rather hard to start off? When i started i cried...
Now i make others cry and it feels goooood.
EVE Online simply takes a lot of patience and you have to really, really do a lot of research before jumping in. It's not really a PVP game per se. It's a full blown RPG and you wont have a fighting chance w/o knowing whats on the other side of that gate
Some quick advice:
1) Consider training ASAP into an Interceptor or some other useful Tech II ship. This way you can get into a specialized role quickly. But first you need Learning skills so get those up (see guides). Get EVEMon. Get EFT. Get EVEHQ too if possible. Get the 2d map printouts
2) Maybe consider get some drone skills, go to 0.5 space, turn on a mining laser and go AFK. Then come back and get your loot. If you're lucky, maybe a spawn will drop an Implant or some unique item worth over 50+ mil. When I first did this I earned a ton and brought myself a Myrm for my Gallente char. I told my newbie friend to try this and he got an Implant drop worth 50+ mil
3) Join Alliance. this makes 0.0 much, much safer if you can find one to take you in. Until you get into a BC you can loot the wrecks / salvage and then produce items to earn you some extra ISK. This is what I did on my first char as soon as I started.
Also you can look into Exploration profession. It's very, very non-repititve and highly rewarding when the dice rolls in your favor. Train for the covops ship, get the exploration skills, and try to get help to clear the plexes etc if required. You will need Astrometrics 4, Signal Acquisition 4, Covops 4, all the other astrometrics skills trained to 4, Hacking / Arch / Salvage, etc. It's not a must to have all that stuff trained upfront tho- you can start off in the Astrometrics frig and go from there
ITS 2 HARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! vv
Like Kyleran i too read alot of guides. I did this after I started. I find the game fun and challenging. Sometimes i do find it rather boring ,but when i see my skills and ISK go up it makes me keep going!
I also belong to a great corps. They are extremly helpful. Maybe the creater of this thread should see a reputable corps to help him out.
Played : WOW, LOTRO, COH/COV, EQ2, SWG, and WAR.
Playing EVE Online and AOC.
Wtg for SW:TOR and WOD
I come from more 'traditional' MMOs and yes it is quite hard for new players some times, but that is why there is a great community that will help you if you just ask them. It does take awhile to know the basic stuff, and don't even think you will know everything about it but if you know things that get you by the other stuff won't matter unless you are dealing with it directly. It will reward you after awhile you just have to wait and see rather then the game give it on a silver platter.
DonTrump, that's so true man. That is EVE right there.
Nope- I find it completely easy because you start in a low security zone and nothing is spoon fed. It is much easier than the old days of Eve...much easier. You might need a good corp in your corner to enjoy the game. This is a game in space with no free tickets. YOu also might like the Drone Bay that describes the game in a podcast.
I find that depiction of the game completely and utterly correct. When one gets to month [x] it's pretty much a dependency on the market as it is, or the market as you make it. NO other MMORPQ has jack on this game's ability to make a player form their own world as they see fit. Ironically, it's also one of those games that many players get formed (or /owned) from said marketting and game mechanics. Undercut your neighbor ftw

if you want to do pvp quickly in EVE with a ship you like you need to spend quite a bit of time to get the cash flow unless you got wealthy friends.. and yeah there is not much reward for doing pvp in EVE except the satisfaction of podding someone.
Too slow to gain a fun ship to fast to die for a bunch of hours spent in gaining it. If you want a better pvp game you need search another place. EVE cannot offer what you're looking for.
My sister made all her early money salvaging wrecks in low security space. Its just like real life - running missions (ie. working for someone else) is a crappy way to make a living. Work for yourself and come up with something to do.
I think your problem lies with not having understood the game; which is understandable as you have played the game for only a few days. I felt completely lost after I finished the tutorial and i also found it hard to make money, however, i've now been playing EVE for over two years and i think it's THE mmo which does it for me.
EVE is unique in the sense that the player is in COMPLETE control of his destiny and believe it or not, the game is enourmous; BUT, it is not for players looking for the 'standard' MMO in which the game mechanics simply throw missions at them and they follow; and it is not for the UNPATIENT.
EVE is also about people - 1st thing you have to do is to find a noob friendly corp and there are a lot of them. You will learn most about the game from other players. Corp mates will also provide you support until you have the necessary skills to do what you want to do effectively - thus helping you make more money. Overall, a good corp also enhances dramatically your experience.
Killing other people is certainly not wrong in EVE!!! unless you're in high sec. Suicide killers do exist and can kill you in high sec - but they will get Concorded anyway so they will only do so if you carry cargo which makes it worthwhile for them. I got locked and scanned several times in high sec but never got suicide killed as i don't fly the ship on AP when halung something of value!! (the reason ppl get suicide killed is not because the game fails, but because they do!). You will also get security hits if you initiate PvP in empire space, even low sec (0.1 - 0.4) but not if you fight in null sec (0.0). However, this does not mean the PvP is bad!! get too low standing will prohibit you from going into high sec, which makes the game more challenging, but that is a choice which Players can avoid (by fighting during wars or in 0.0) - some players want to flash red at the sight of others !! (pirating is a profession after all!)
Finding a good corp is of utmost importance for ppl, like you, who want to do PvP. No one is effective in PvP, solo as all ships have weaknesses which others can exploit - even if the char has maxed skills. A 3 year char can easily die to a gang of players only a few weeks old! A gang of players is far more superior then the total sum of the individual members. A 2 day character can be very effective in a PvP gang as a tackler and then think of which roles you like most, and plan ahead for the necessary skills. EVE skill system is unique as it allows young players to be more efficient in doing something than old veteran players who would have neglected that field. No player can ever have perfect skills in all fields.
ISKIES - they're a head ache but there are many other ways of how to do them - I see that you found out about missions and mining, but you can make money with PvP/pirating, trading, exploration, production, salvaging, invention, research. As in real economy, the higher the risk, the more Iskies you can make (trading in low sec and 0.0 is certainly more lucrative, but has higher risks). But the key to make big money is to join forces with other players as it reduces the risks of losing what you have as a group. This also allows you to move into lower sec, even null sec (null sec is actually safer than low sec if you're in an alliance) and thus giving you the potential to make real big money.
I think i'll end it here there is so much more to say about this game but the best way to get to know them is through playing the game with other players.
EVE is great once you learn how to embrace it
Eve is all about team-work, get out of that new player Corp, find a nice helpful Corp (imho, smaller Corps help you more)
It takes a bit of training before you can PvP, you can`t really jump straight in
I have been playing Eve over 4 years (and am a nutter with 5 active accounts)
OOOH! OOOH! POST RELEVANCE! o/ I finally paged my way up to see how this *cough* odd post was started... and guess what I found.(?) NEWBIEKINS! *BIG HUGS* Get a better computer if you intend on playing any of the games that continually advance. If you're on dial-up, this game will put your pod jelly into a stargate so fast that you will lag when encountering a nicely blobbed gate camp. As far as .4 systems, I haven't seen a 100+ gatecamp on a .4 gate ever in the game (which yes, I did think about recruiting for it just to be "that one guy who [x'd]"). Try zooming all the way out instead of checking the paint job on that ship you're trying to lose, it's a tactic that many pvp'ers use to avoid lagging out when jumping into a gate camp. The whole reason that I love this game is because I learn something new every day in reference to one of the skills, mechanics, or player entities. 3 years in... and you can learn something new every day! I had a friend sit there and continuously put me off every time I tried talking about Eve-O for this entire time I've been playing. "You're talking greek man." "That stuff is so way over my head dude." "You can't expect me to understand what you're talking about right now, put down the drink and let's go play [insert game that grows old in 6 months or less]."
. . .
He now is a Gallente and fully understands what kind of depth it takes on when one trully wants something that is both beautiful and mentally enthralling.
Not done dieing yet? Try making your stuff work harder and better, but at the expense of damaging your ship's modules on that rack:
"Advanced understanding of the laws of thermodynamics. Allows you to deliberately overheat a ship's modules in order to push them beyond their intended limit. Also gives you the ability to frown in annoyance whenever you hear someone mention a perpetual motion unit." (anyone think that was a pendulum reference? *cough* BoB *cough* *cough* *gag*)
Good fight and keep em coming. New players and old players alike have cried wolf in many games, but this is one of the few that you fall asleep thinking about that subject in your freshman science class which you so loved to hate, and now hate to be without.
