AoC - a soundtrack undreamed of

Well, in the current state playin AoC reminds me watching those two Conan movies. Sometimes it's fun, sometimes it's just great, sometimes it's shallow and meh. There are many flaws in the movies and in the game.

But: The soundtrack of the movies was absoutely great. So is AoC's soundtrack and sounddesign.

The sound of the enviroment and lore and of the battle-effects (slit-crunch-punch) is amazing. The music of the certain areas (f.e. special music on special occasions/in special dungeons) or in battle is dramatic and catchy and of pure cinemascope. Even the &%$§ loading screens are enjoyable regarding music, f.e. that gaelic (?) vocals in the loading screens of the Cimmeria region.

So, no matter if this game is still in beta or not (I would give AoC a 6,5-7 of 10 in current state) - thumbs up for the (imho) best MMORPG-soundtrack so far.  Many MMORPG-players don't give a dime on a game's soundtrack (just look at all those mmo-reviews: sound and soundtrack is always regarded with maybe one or two lines) and play Metal whatsoever winamp on 10 - don't do that playin AoC!

I wonder if it's possible to get a soundtrack of AoC from game data?

You sound like someone who thinks they made the game from the movies....

Na, I know AoC is inspired by Robert E. Howard's novels - but there was no music in the novels ;) I have to confess I haven't read one of them so far, I'm to busy with Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey&Maturin-novels at the moment. Are the Conan-novels worth a look?

The music is absolutely brilliant, and should win some awards.  You can purchase the music from itunes if you don't have the cd that came with the CE.

Just bought the soundtrack off iTunes.  I'll always support a soundtrack and local artist if I have the cash.
