Its not for free you just pay the difference. And you can only do it once so you cant do it again with the card you upgrade too. But if you pay full value for another card then you can do it again.

Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.

If the Powerball lottery was like Lotro, nobody would win for 2 years, and then everyone in Nebraska would win on the same day.
And then Nebraska would get nerfed.-pinkwood lotro fourms

But I only have 90 days to do it right? If I get an evga 8800 today I can upgrade to an 9800 but only within 90 days?

    Here's the other catch:

    from: http://www.evga.com/stepup/default.asp?switch=2

What products will EVGA make available to the Step-Up Program?  EVGA will only release EGS (EVGA Genuine Spec) versions of its products, NVIDIA reference spec and clock, to the step-up program.

    • Products that have been pre-configured with higher clock speeds will be released based on yield rates and in limited quantities and on a first come first ship bases.
    • Products known to have limited availability will not be made available to the Step-Up Program. (Limited availability determined by EVGA production.)

So, more than likely, you'll only be able to upgrade to a stock version of a card rather than one of the overclocked versions.
