hey I know I've applied for imperium arcanum and have been accepted
AND have posted on their website
but i've noticed this new "desulation" growing fairly well also
can you guys (kunou and bobjones or whoever imperium arcanum's leader is) tell me why i should join your guild?
the two separate ones that is...
try not to flame eachother
thing is, i wanna have the best EQII experience, and I can do that with people I know/lots of people I don't know that i'll know in game, with a large guild helping eachother out, becoming one of the largest guilds in EQII, etc etc etc
dunno..game hasn't come, but i really wanna make my decision from now

Actually if you wanna drop me an IM or something that'd be better, then I can answer any questions you have in real time instead of playing post tag. All my IM program info is listed in my profile on my guild forums, or drop me an email at kunou@mmorpg.com with your screenname/program and all that and we'll hook up.
And for the record, we're FAR from new... I've been running guilds since the early days of MMORPGs. The current incarnation of Desolation, which includes most of it's officers, has been playing together since DAoC was released.
But we can talk about all of that in IMs, drop me a line!

u will atleast get a cool new guild sig, made by the one and only Torx.
I hope that no one is picking Deso just because it is a cool name or whatnot .. you should pick a guild based on you both having the same playstyle.
But .... I must say , we are the best

As to which you should join, a good way to pick is based on alignment. I'm assuming, because of the name, that Desolation is an evil guild. Imperium Arcanum intends to be a prestigious guild, based out of Qeynos and sided with good. Other than alignment, and my promise to lead Imperium Arcanum to greatness with the interests and enjoyment of my members at heart, there is not much hard-evidence towards in-game performance, because the game is still an agonizingly long way off .
I would perfer not starting a flame war over this, especially not with an Admin's guild. Anyways Murt, we'd like to have you, I think Imperium Arcanum will do well.
Just go with what feels right for you. Hey, at least we got our name out some more!

hmm, Somebody set me straight --
I have been watching the growing posts with Desolation, Imperium Arcanum AND Blood for a couple of months, trying to figure out which guild I want to join. I applied to Avaquet (though I never heard back from them .
I was under the impression that Desolation and Blood were evil or PVP based, and Imperium Arcanum was positive alignment, RPG.
Murt, check out each guild and see which best fits your gaming desires and style. I thought you were starting your own anyway, Fifth Column or something like that? Where did that go? (I don't post much but I pay attention).
So, can anyone please explain two things -
a.) Evil and Good aligned guilds-will they allow only those specific races into the guild? (i.e. Freeport/evil = DE, Ogres, Trolls and the like)
b.) Are Desolation, Blood and Imperium Arcanum going to be rivals or allies? I know Blood may not be around too long in EQII with not having PVP, so that kind of rules them out for me.
And yes, Torx you ARE a celebrity, with quite a large following .

We accept anyone , if your a troll you can still join imperium just needa do to the betrayl
We are not some hardcore guild trying to be the best on the server after the first month of release , we leave that to guilds like VX which have 60-90 hours a week play requirment (these people kill themselves outve the game)
but at the same time we do not plan on staying at lvl 1 for the entire duration heh if you get what im saying. Everyone has a say and an input and the guild leader does not kick you around like ur his bitch.
You are not forced on raids nor required to come on them but we do hope that everyone does come the raids when they have the chance and of course RL comes first before anything.
We do not have very strict application requirments as of now but once we reach a larger number in members joining wont be as easy as pie though.
Lets say we have a guild raid and were going to fight a dragon or something for example , we'll go in quite organized have a ton of fun and possibly be killed on the first try , lets say maybe it was one of the members faults (not purposely but a mistake in tactics) hes not gunna get bitched at or put down but next time we go on that same raid we will have learned from the mistakes and succesfully take down the dragon (hopefully hehe) what im trying to imply by this is that were not some guild thats gunna be screaming at you and makeing sure YOU DO EVERYTHING EXACTLY CORRECT on the first try or u'll be beatin in the face with a metal bar. Now dont take this as if we plan to suck but as if were gunna have fun with whatever were doing learn from are mistakes and do it the right way next time instead of bitching and fighting with each other for perfection and being the best on the server.. We also plan to group with each other , help each other out..ya know the usual things guilds do...I hope that was a bit insightful as to what our guild is about..
EQ2 Qeynos Guild- http://www.imperium-arcanum.com
After reviewing EQ2 from several sources with Officers of Blood, we have decided that despite the possibility of there not being any PvP related content, Blood will bear its mark permanently within the halls of EQ2.
We understand that everyone may not be as partial to elements of PvP as some, but do not wish to exlude these people from understanding who and what the community of Blood are. If you intend on playing EQ2, we ask you to consider Blood as the supportive community of difference that we are known as.

I have to agree that PVP rules over PvE. Im wondering, if they can seperate servers for PvP, why can't they seperate the rules (class nerfs etc) between servers aswell?

Hello
I'm looking to join an EQ2 guild too. I normally play 4-5 hours weekdays and more on weekends. I plan on playing a summoner > conjuror but since NDA is still on I'm not sure. If conjuror turns out bad I will definately play a healer like I was in EQ, AO, NWN, SWG and FFXI.
Joined the FFXI guild that formed here on these boards. Name was Xann and i made some friends in game but the guild fell apart because of a name issue
Anyway. I feel i will be an asset to any guild because i'm a skilled player who is also friendly and courtious. And anyone that knows me would tell you I will go out of my way to help a friend or stranger in game. I'm always down for a raid but I'm not into 3+ hour camping sessions. If you want to start at the front door of dungeon 'A' and fight your way all the way through till you reach and slay the dragon, then I'm your man. *this feels like a job interview*
Oh and I hate PvP so I wouldn't be happy in a PvP based guild.
Umm, maybe I should have posted this in another forum.
We will be based in Freeport, but don't really consider ourselves an "evil" guild. We're a band of refugees survivors of past wars and conflicts which have banded together, and as such we turn no one aside, be it because of race or clase or anything else. If you want to be a Qeynos only Race, you are still more than welcome to join our ranks. If that is your choice then you'll have to do the Betrayal quest if you want to actually LIVE in Freeport with us. However the way the guild system is set up, you can even live in Qeynos still and still be in our guild. Kinda like one of our inside Agents on enemy turf so to speak. Granted this route makes life VERY hard on you as for as meeting up with the guild for meetings, raids, etc. But it's definitely possible and have no fear that the guild will support you in this if it is the route you so choose.
Seeing as Blood will also more than likely be Freeport based, and the fact that Desolation and Blood have been allies in the past in a previous game, I see no reason why anything would change this time around. Having never had any experience with IA since this is their first incarnation I can't say either way on that route. However with the lack of PvP it kinda makes allies/rivals a moot point.
Desolation has only one real rule: Remember the meaning of the word "game". Game: An activity providing entertainment or amusement. It's a game, we play it to have fun. We're not hardcore or powergamers, though I will admit some of us put in some pretty hardcore hours, but that's by personal choice. Having fun is our only goal in the game, we're not out to be the best guild or the first guild to do so and so, who cares. I will say that we have been very successful in the games we've played in the past. But that's just because I've always felt, and it's been proven by my guild many times in the past, a Guild that gets along great and works well together will always end up on top of the heap when the smoke clears.
I just recently selected the Officer Base for Desolation. Which does indeed mean that new applicants won't be elligible for an Officer spot right off the bat. Sorry, but if you're just lookign for a guild that hands out Officer spots you might have to look elsewhere. But on a more positive note, all 7 of my Officers have been Officers in Desolation before in previous games. They were all nominated and received very high praise from the Guild as a whole. These are experienced leaders all around and will do a GREAT job in EQ2 I'm sure. The reason I point this out is to also touch on the Raid and Guild Event Subject. The main reason I went with 7 Officers is so that we'd have one for each night of the week. Each Officer will have a night of the week where they're responsible for hosting some form of Guild Event. It can be a Raid, or just an Exp Group, mayby a group to go gather resources for the crafter, whatever, it's the Leader's choice what he or she wants to do. This way there is always something to do, you should never be sitting around bored having to look outside of the guild for a group or something to do. And of course none of the events are mandatory.
The only thing that we do that has any form of Mandatry attendance factor is Xmass. We will be having weekly Guild Meetings. Nothing big or formal or anything, just a get together to chat about the guild, upcoming contests and events, etc. It's a Deso tradition. The meeting itself isn't even mandatory. However directly following the meeting we have what we call Xmass. This is where all the members of the guild who are at them meeting go through their vaults and exchange anything they may have picked up over the past week in their adventuring and can't use. In the past this has tended to end up being more of a Hand Me Down session than anything else. Newbies in Deso always seem well equipped.
We currently have some open spots, so are pretty much accepting anyone who applies from this site for the time being. This is the only place I've advertised the guild and will be the only place I ever advertise it. We don't "open recruit" ingame, you'll never see a myself or any officer/member of Desolation standing in a Town Square somewhere /shouting that we're recruiting. We don't go looking and begging for people, never have, never will. People seem drawn to us over time, just a couple here and there, but thats more than enough for us. Along the same lines of not caring about being #1 we also don't care about being the biggest. I very much prefer having a small guild where everyone gets along and has a good time than a huge "uber" power-Guild.
Good to see that if not you at least your brood will be around Malky!
Actually that should have been votED. We did a guild vote and Freeport ended up winning, but then again with a name like Desolation would we have really fit in Qeynos? As for the PvP, yes, it's true that quite a few people in Deso thing that PvP, if done in the wrong manner, ruins a game. I for one will never play another game with open unrestricted PvP such as Shadowbane or Lineage 2. On the other hand I have NO problem with a system like DAoC's where if I want to go PvP I can, and when I don't, it has NO affect on my gameplay.
Now that I've turned what was supposed to be a quick reply into a novel, lemme close by just reiterating what everyone else has said. Talk to the Guild Leaders of each, get a feel for what the guild is all about, and make your decision based on what YOU want from a guild, not what the guild wants from it's members. In other words pick a guild that fits YOU, don't change yourself to fit a Guild. I'm more than happy to talk in IMs with anyone who wants to ask anyting about Deso. You can either go to my guild's website, my IM contact info is in my profile there, or drop me an email at kunou@mmorpg.com with your IM contact information and when a good time to contact you is and I'll get in touch!
Now lemme go work on the Cliff Notes version of this post.

I actually read it all Kunou
By the way, good explaining. Basically describes the entire guild. If you read that, you know everything about Deso (Except how weird the people can be at times )
Yeah, we do definitely have some characters over there... Guess it just goes to show we'll let ANYONE in.

Vaporware? Funny, Desolation has been around for YEARS now, and suddenly we're just going to fold in EQ2? Funny...

Actually I think Torx was using his seemlessly cunning humor to penetrate the psyche of Maxxx, slowly deteriorating his mind in to a meaningless pile of smoltering crap.
Or he may have just been being stupid. Who knows?
