Do you think the monies they get from AoC will further the graphical Development of AO?

I know they are revamping the game engine for AO but I was thinking if they were going to take some of th emoney from AoC and but it towards AO to make it better to the eye.

RIght now, AO is 20 times better than AOC in terms of substance. If they had a nice graphics update they could bring players back.

I think any revenue stream they can bring in would definately help both AoC and AO. I recently left AoC simply because it just wasn't the game for me. I am happy people are playing it and enjoying it.

They do have a video showing some things with the updated engine.

I think right now they should consider lowering the monthly sub price to bring back old players and maybe generate more income from upgraded Froob accounts. Five bucks a month is easier to swallow for now than 15. I would be happy to pay full price once they have the game fully updated.

I am constantly tempted to play my shade again, but it's one of those things where I don't want to pony up for the LE expansion.

Then again, i am on the fence right now and can't seem to settle on a game to play.

If you look at a company like Ubisoft, they constantly share resources  for example, they made some tech for cloth for Prince of Persia, they then turned around and used that tech in Splinter Cell.

PS - I too listen to the Savage Nation :)

Do you have a link for the updated graphic engine video? I do agree with  you. If they dropped the fee to 5 or 8 a month Id go back.

Its kinda sad seeing that AO (that was made over 6 years ago) is much better than AoC. How could they go so wrong lol.

Anyways, do you know the update status for the engine upgrade?

there's the video for the upgraded engine.

I know as much as anyone else at this point..." It's in the works"

For what AoC does, it's not bad. I do like the combat and combo system. Other than that I just feel we have all played this game before.

AO is definately a gem, it's just a very very rough one at the moment.

I've been eyeing AO and even Neocron2, my biggest worry is paying for either and entering a ghost town.

I have everything up until Lost Eden, if they made all content available at a reduced monthly rate then I can agree to that.

It's a little odd in a sense you feel like you don't get the complete package when you are missing expansions.  Why would I want to lose content I already have by starting a new account?

Ultimately though that is great for Froob accounts.

Can I downgrade an existing full subscription to a Shadowlands account?

No, existing accounts that have additional expansions already activated on them cannot be downgraded. Any accounts with only the Shadowlands expansion active on them will be automatically converted to the new subscription rate on their next billing cycle.

AO is already the best bang for the buck deal around.  Core game totally free, the huge Shadowlands expansion for $5/mo, and the full game for less than $10 a month (assuming you subscribe by the year, like I do)

AoC doing good will undoubtedly have benefits for AO down the line, from better exposure to possibly more $$ for updates (not that they don't already do constant content additions and updates).

i hear ya Burmese.. just not sure if I want upgrade a Froob acct for shadowlands.

There's also an option for 15 bucks, you upgrade your froob acct, get 30 days playtime, and all expansions.

The real binder for me is that I do have a level 60-ish shade that I remember having fun with, but I do not own Lost Eden.

I might be answering my own question here, but If I did re-up my old AI acct, I probably wouldn't have a clue as to where I was or what I was doing.

I find it very hard going back to a high level character in AO , i usually reroll .

Let hope AO revive again it's a great game overall , and yes there are still alot of folks playing just not as much as in the golden years.

I doubt i will continue AOC feel so much like a solo rpg , even all of my guild all solo , so funny seeing 15 players all play by themself .

Back to my 2 Ao 5$ a month account such a bargain .

Yeah I saw that video awhile back. It's impressive.  It would be awesome if they upgraded the game into this century.

i think they dont really need more revenue then they already direct to AO, theres ton of new content still coming out.. i dont play it anymore but i follow it a bit ;)

i just think/hope that the revenue from aoc will help speed up the making of 'The Secret World'... altho virtually nothing is known of it... i really liked the darkness seen in the 3 whole screens they released so far heheh

    MMOs currently playing: -
About to play: Lord of the Rings Online
Played: Anarchy Online (alltime favorite) and lots of f2p titles (honorable mentions: 9Dragons, Martial Heroes, Dekaron, Atlantica Online)

Yeah its sad... and i totally agree on your AoC statement.. and i blame the stupid questing system for it.. i SOOoo wish they would have built in the good old AO Mission system at least.. i remember doing lvl 200 missions with a lvl 150 team in AO.. that was always a blast back then.. today all mmorpgs are filled with questing crap.. and hardly anyone wants to team for quests.. its the same shit in WoW... really sux imo
