Sci-Fi Channel to release MMO TV series 
The Sci-Fi Channel has announced its partnership with Trion World Network to create a television series that's plot will be brought about by the actions and outcomes of players and battles in a Massively Multiplayer Online game.
Talk about the ultimate chance to be on television! I don’t know about you, but this seems a lot easier than trying to make it big in Hollywood to me!
The name of the series or the MMO hasn’t been revealed yet, but they have hinted to a time period set 80 to 100 years in the future on our own awesome planet, Earth. I hope there’s some futuristic technology of some sort, maybe some flying cars and those bubble transporters from Meet the Robinsons! Those look like fun!
I’m not quite sure how well the game will fit into the market of current available MMOs. With all the choices out there, and the people that have already spent so much time in their particular games (I definitely don’t want to quit my game, seeing as how I just got to a pivotal level!) it’ll be interesting to see how the MMO gamer population will react to it. It seems to me, though, that even if the gameplay, content, and graphics aren’t up to snuff, the fact that players themselves will have an outcome in the television show is going to draw a generous amount of people.
Now, what about the people out there, the griefers. The “I pay my monthly bills for this game so I’ll do whatever the hell I want” players who go around making the game torture for others just to have fun. There’s a question as to how that would play a part in the video game, but personally I’d think that it would actually add a bit of spice. Shows have to have conflict of some sort (even Napoleon Dynamite had conflicts in the main plot) or the audience won’t be interested. There won’t be that “OMG! I need to know what happens!” feeling. With the people out there that prey on others, it’ll add that extra bit of nastiness that we enjoy!
Also, how much of the stereotypical clichés found in the online gaming world do you think will be portrayed in the TV show. Typical humorous clips of players getting ROLLED by a zerg group or a high level raid boss quite simply must be incorporated somehow. I think it’d be hilarious!
I look forward to more information on this MMO TV series set to release in 2010. Will it strike big, or flounder like a newb trying to act tough to an end game toon. Lars Buttler, the co-founder and chief executive of Trion has said that that “This will be a state-of-the art game and it will be a strong television show, and watching how those two things interact will be fascinating.” So we will see how it turns out! They will giving us more information come Comic-Con time. "

I don't know for sure, But if you read the LA times one it tells a bit about it, I feel if they can pull this off(money wise) It will be amazing .

Seems like the delay between events in the MMO, which are real time, and the actual production of the show would present huge hurdles in staying up to date with the game on the show. Unless they just let shit happen in the MMO and then write it into the episodes and the show lags behind the game.
Very interesting. It seems MMORPG / Other media such as TELEVISION tie-ins are the way of the future... if rumors are true than that is what the BioWare/LucasArts MMORPG is supposed to be doing in 2009.

Well, I heard that too but the series and the game was going to be lead by Lucas Arts and a yet unnamed company. The Bioware/LucasArts partnership is for KOTOR3O with popular rumours sources confirming. But if this Sci-FI MMO is something altogether different from the Star War MMOS they are going to find it tough to pull the audience from the Star Wars MMO/series equal - if there is one ,it will be announce in mid August while Lucas has your attention with the release of the clone Wars movie/Tv series.
