WoW "almost" ready for release

"September 02, 2004 - Blizzard announced at EGN that World of WarCraft is almost ready for public comsumption. "We're pleased to announce that World of Warcraft is nearing completion," said Mike Morhaime, Blizzard Entertainment president and co-founder. "When we set out to create a massively multiplayer online role-playing game, our goal was to give players an incredibly dynamic online gaming experience filled with endless possibilities while expanding the scope of the Warcraft universe. We look forward to accomplishing this goal with the release of World of Warcraft."
Excellent News! Blizzard probably is focusing on a November or perhaps even earlier release. We'll just have to hope and wait until then.

People must be reading a different article than I did. I saw no mention of a release date, be it mid Nov., Xmas, or whatever date people pull out of their ass. All it says is it's almost ready. And from things I've read on the beta forums, that's not quite as ready for Prime Time as that blurb would have you believe.
All that statement is, is a PR move to mollify people who are waiting for release to keep their interest up, and their attention off EQ2, which has been called for a mid November release. In other words, he said a whole lot of nothing at all.

EB, and Gamestop list 11/15 as the release date. Doesn't mean jack. Until Blizzard makes a statement saying WoW has gone gold, no one knows for sure what the release will be.
While unlikely, the devs could encounter a major snag of HL2 proportions that caused the release to be pushed back 6 months. You never know, until it's done.
