partial player looting of griefers on pvp servers. along with pvp levels and pvp gear check out the info here,
PvP consequences – the fugitive system
No longer will evil misdeeds go unpunished. Of course, Hyboria is ruthless and barbaric so don’t expect anyone to deal out justice just because someone smacks you about with a very heavy axe, but some justice is actually now being introduced to the world.
This is where the fugitive system comes in, presented in a set of colors defining your fugitive status – from blue to orange and eventually the deadly red.
Everyone is by default classified as “blue”, but your actions as a player killer will affect your fugitive rating. If you kill someone way under your level, you will notice that you will very quickly move to red. So will actions such as killing someone repeatedly, or other general unfairness. The more serious the crime, the quicker you rise in fugitive.
Obtaining red status will be quite painful to you. This means that other players can kill you without rising in fugitive level, and if they manage to kill you while you have red fugitive you will actually drop one of your better items and gold that they can loot!
Of course, turning red will be a double-edged sword. Sure, it will get you a lot of attention and many will probably see you as a danger to be avoided. But at the same time, people will hunt you down for your items and your gold so be very, very careful!
I've been reading these forums for a while and I know there are complaints that no decent games have looting. I know many will be disapointed that its partial. but I am ESTATIC because its my favourite type of looting, simular to that runescape had - PKing increases your risk. only in AoC it will only be for people who PK lower level players.
FC had talked alot about looting before release and I was disapointed it didn't make release. anyhow love funcom right now. most AoC players are playing on a PvP server. and AoC is a pretty big game atm. think of how much exposure the mmorpg genre is getting to looting.
anyway, cant wait to feel the immense tension during pvp with consequence again. can't wait to try and kill that red ganker with the nice gear I want to steal, and feel the sweat on my palms

let the mass ganking begin! Haven't bought AoC yet but maybe I will some day.
So griefers will now be able to loot those they grief?
No griefers will be lootable.
partial is the key word. LAME
j/k. I wonder what do they loose? money or just some random stuff in inventory and not what they are wearing?
Play Earthrise. It will have full PvP looting.
no thanks. full looting is worse. full looting will just mean even MORE ganking. and MORE griefing/spawn camping.
this is a perfect system in my opinion. taken from UO I do believe.
all this system does is discourage killing lower level players (ganking) and encourage killing gankers. its totally fair. if you go aoc forums you can see all the gankers QQing, its hilarious.
but the system even appeals to the hardcore gankers. because ganking becomes a challenge, having tons of people hunting you, being a criminal is what some people love. I might make one character who is a criminal it will be fun seeing how well I can survive when everyone is hunting me down.

not my words other peoples. I didn't even play UO. but its sounds simular, really what does it matter that its not all the items. it sounds simular to UO because its a criminal type system.
anyway I imagine once you get criminal (red) enough you will lose ALL of your items, so it could be classed as full loot anyway. only aocs system will work because it discourages killing lowbies, instead of encourages. most people want player looting so they can get a max level char and then go and kill lowbies and rob thier gear and ruin thier game so they can feel tough. its like men who beat up women to feel manly. this system means gankers will actually have to have some daring.

Maybe they should fix the actual stats on gear, and the itemisation first, might make anyone actually care if they get looted then. Does not sound like a system that would discourage anyone from anything really.
I think they are working to fix that it the next patch or so. So it will be in the game before the fugitive system.

Somehow, MMOs should at least launch with item stats that actually work! It kinda helps...maybe!
This is a great system because it allows the players to police their servers, without the need for GMs to intervene. Lineage 2 had more or less the same system, and it is quite possibly the best news I've heard for AoC in a while. My only question is, why did it take so long to put this in?
I'm happy about this, on a glabal game-systems perspective.
Sounds like a great system to me. It identifies the griefers and puts some responsibility on their actions.
Good job I say.
So basically its pretty much like Lineage 2? its better than nothing for sure .... but the real griefers and gankers know ways around it. On the plus side .... it should cut down on most of the wanabe gankers which should be about 80% of what goes on anyway at this point.
yup it should have been in release. but better a month late than never. I'm too pleased with AoC for choosing such a good pvp design to care. besides, first month of a mmo is never about the PvP, the classes are never blanced and everyone is still leveling and learning to play.

Sounds like they just ripped off Lineage II's system. Let the noto-pking begin!
"There, I killed him and looted his weapon!"
"Your point?"
"Well, now he will be gimped?"
"Until he respawns and beats you with another trash item?"
"Ah, touché!"
There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
This sounds actually horrible. It sounds like L2's karma thing.
The issue I see is that they didn't state how you could return to "blue" status. Not that I read anyway. Maybe I just missed it. I read it in a hurry.
So for clarification. How do you get from "red" rating to "blue" rating? Because if it's anything like Lineage 2's Karma thing, it'll be terrible.
---------------------------------------------
I live to fight, and fight to live.
I didn't see anything about it but I think it should just fade over a certain amount of time... nothing in the players control, to reduce any kind of possibility of exploiting it.
I hope they are smart enough to implement it so warring guilds can gank each other without risk of a karma hit.
Wow, this is almost as unfair as a level 80 one-hit killing a level 10! How obsurd!

That is old news. Taken from a Finnish website, it is written by a guy that is so deep into World of Warcraft that he even lets his biased opinion shine through in the actual "review". Dig a little deeper and you will see where the "review" actually came from.
Do you still think the lag in cities has improved simply by reducing the number of people allowed in each instance?
Back on track, it sounds like an interesting solution even though I would rather have seen full looting. But I guess that is not for everyone.

Of course you can always try the IGN review or the upcoming Eurogamer review, ot the GamePro review.
And instead of attacking people on a personal basis, just look at whatt these reviewers say. You can't argue on facts with these reviews so put a Wow banner on them is no solution.
In fact all reviews published after the 3 week launch tell about the same story.
Yes. the lag in the cities is directly related to the number of player data your client needs to load from your hard disks and into you video Ram.
And no you won't get more than 40 players in one instance of Tortage.
Or try the PC gamer review or CVG, just wait for them ok
listen his name is on the forums there, just do a search and he is the biggest wow and Daoc fan out there. He will probably take more marks off now because AoC will have looting and his fav* game wont.
Retarded idea in a item based game...
