World of Warcraft: Stress Test Beta Begins!

Blizzard has launched their huge "Stress Test Beta" today at noon PST.  This test will give the servers the high traffic loads needed to test the limits of the World of Warcraft hardware and software...a critical part of MMORPG development.

Those that downloaded the game via FilePlanet in the past week will be getting an e-mail shortly from them, so check your inboxes and make sure that your spam and junk mail filters are disabled!

Players can access the stress test forums at this link once their account is up and running.

Note that this test will only last until Sept. 9, 2004.  At this time all accounts will be closed as well as the official stress test forums.

    Did anyone get their fileplanet e-mails yet?  I haven't received mine yet...just wondering as I got the first mail and have it installed already...just want that account creation mail image

    I bet they are releasing the mails in batches to help smooth the login mayhem. It would be a little more realistic then everyone having gone to the store and gotten it installed all at the same times. Just a guess, but either way...I just want the mail too image

    Got my authorization key.

    Got the email.

    Went to register my account.

    "Invalid Authorization Key"

    Thanks for nothing!  Of course the Fileplanet support people are as useless as ever, no response in hours indicating any reason for the problem or ideas in resolving it (may need a new key?).  Well, that subscription is about cancelled already image

    I got mine, went through all the motions and now I have a level 14 Tauren Shaman until the test ends, Couldn't play last night cause of the massive server crash, and I got work early!  It didn't go back up until I went to bed!  I'm on a lengthy quest for my fire totem, mainly lengthy because I keep gettting sidetracked by other quests that have been easier to find the quest items necessary.  Being a Tauren is funny, you're so much bigger than everything else.  dwarves are hilarious to fight!  Haven't seen any gnomes.  When they gave Taurens a size boost they made them the biggest and tallest.  I know because a level 9 NE snuck in from Ashenvale.  I went there exploring for a shortcut and got killed by a level ?? slime and spider.
