...got through the updates, til I came to the stupid protection thingy on it. I waited til it was done, then a message popped up in weird symbols. Anyone know a way around this? I can't play it until I get it fixed.

Sounds like you need to post this in the games main sites support forum and check to see if anyone else there has had the same problem.
I've just finished downloading the client tonight so I will update it and try to log in tomorrow, I'll let you know if I have the same problems.

Hi, downloaded and installed went to run the update and it failed, far as i can tell there is nothing wrong with the client, I think it's at there end, i will post back when I find out more, a freind had his cut off half way thru the update, again we think the problem is at the server end.

Nope, it's just sitting there on my PC, awaiting me to play it, but without the hack protection, I doubt I will be able to play. On a side note, I tried downloading Granado Espada last night, and I was about 2 hours into the download, when all of a sudden, my PC reset itself. I was quite pissed. I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY wanted to play GE. And Rohan too...
Hi Jeremy, sorry to say I gave up on rohan when my hellgate london game DVD showed up in the mail, I still couldn't get it to update, a friend of mine also tried to install it as well, he said that the if it don't work or fails to start wait for twelve hours,( yep that's what I said!) and try again, if it don't work then report it.
Swords of the new world:GE, I had mine installed already for about three weeks, I went to try it last night and found that I also couldn't get on there server and there website was very long in loading as well, I think the servers are down or something, you can also download from MMOSITE.com which hold there own copies, just check and make sure they didn't release a newer version, while you were downloading.
sorry I couldn't help on Rohan, but I hope you have better luck with Sotnw:GE, it is a very different style of game play and a lot of fun, well worth the download hassle.
