Taking a quick break: Here are some quick tidbits.

they just did a podcast to explain more about banners.

You can turn in enemy banner scraps

The top renown guild will have a statue in the city

Can't name squigs/white lions yet but they want to

10 character slots on a server but of course you can only have order or destruction on a server

Lairs are sprinkled throughout the zones

I have the whole tapped I'll get it posted soon

Not that I was concerned about this game before but now after playing...

this game is going to deliver.

Graphics are spot on, the pvp aspect of the rvr is smooth fast, and playing a support class (runepriest 4 times) was fun. Damage and healing was spot on!

Cheers!

I LOVE SNIPITS! Till we get the whole package of course!!

    --------------------------------------
A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

    Sweet, Thanks V :)

There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

    awesome thanks vmoped!

I can feel your anger. This game is defenseless. Take your weapon. Strike this game down with all of your hatred, and your journey towards towards the Dark Side will be complete.

Dammit!! where is the rest of it? Dont leave us hanging like this... LOL.

Kinda pissed I didnt go to it now, was planning on it but then family stuff came up, oh well, thanks for the info, it did answer a couple of questions I had.

Out of every 100 men, 10 should not be there,
80 are nothing but targets, 9 are the real fighters.
Ah, but one, ONE of them is a warrior,
and he will bring the others home.

"Open beta will offer players a lot of “free reign” but may not open up the entire game to play."

Great, so even from the open beta we won't be able to see the whole game -_-

Why can't they just show the whole game already. What is there to left to hide at that point in time?

Because Mythic is still using Open BETA as a BETA, which means TESTING. It's not a PR event. Open Beta means no NDA, but they will still test specific things as they did in Closed Beta. Unless they changed their minds, but I doubt it .

You're kidding yourself if you think dropping the NDA on beta's these days is *not* a PR event.

It's the content they're not gonna show that I'm weary about.  Locking out certain content will probably just mean the good tested content will be in and then we're left to wonder if the rest of the content is finished/tested etc. @ the point where we should buy the game.

They said themselves if the open beta didn't start 2 months or so before release people should be very very concerned. By that same reasoning I feel very very concerned if in that open beta we don't even get to see/play/test the whole game. Focus testing only gets you so far and especially as a consumer what I care about is how the entire game plays out as a whole, not a certain part of it.

You're kidding yourself if you think they will not utilize the players they have on the game during open beta to test areas they want to fine tune.

They are not doing your normal beta.  They are doing focus testing. So while at one point you are playing dwarfs/greenskins from 1-20 the next phase might be chaos/empire 30-40.

at least that what my friend in beta was hinting at to me.

    EDIT:

And here is a link to the ful Q/A session in one clip:

I am wondering when and if the beta keys we got there are actually going to let us in. I have read on the website that gaining a key does not mean you get into the beta. so I wonder standing in line for almost 2 hours was really worth it other then the 15 mins of RvR gameplay.

    Go Order at Phoenix Gate!

Sure looks like you did. Guess you didn't read your own post because it sure sounded like you were saying that open beta was nothing but a PR event and that they shouldn't bother locking it down to specific areas to work out problems.

But hey, I only get that impression because it seems at ever turn you're nit picking the piss out of Warhammer.

  • kintrikkintrik Member Posts: 194

The code guarantees entry, just not immediate entry. normally in the next wave of invites.

  • HazmalHazmal Member CommonPosts: 1,013

Pheace does nitpick the game a lot.  However, they are almost always valid points about gameplay and issues that should be considered instead of blindly accepting everything.

These days everything you do that involves the public (no NDA) is a PR event in some form or another.  They want to take full advantage of free publicity through open beta testing; people that like the game will tell their friends to play etc. etc.  Referrals of that kind are hard to gain through press release or advertising, and usually net the most purchases of any medium used to move products.

The will use the open beta to fix problems, but pull your head out of the sand and see that they are using it for the PR aspect as well.  Doesn't make anyone an evil corporation, it is business sense.  You get to play their open beta and tell your friends, they get to sell more copies and fix more problems.

    *await the conspirator flames*

the difference is in how. by not having a public open beta they aren't going for a solely PR event. Example of that is the AoC open beta, and others.

By just having an open beta they're main point is still testing pre-release.  Just they are opening up the floodgates for testers to talk about actual content and details of game mechanics.

If you can't read a post without working in your own delusions about what it says that's not my problem.

*Nowhere* did I claim it was solely a PR event.

Since they aren't even having a public Beta Open beta is the only chance we have at having any clue at what the full game is like before the game comes out.

Now personally I'm tired of games hiding their stuff before release as 9/10 it's not a good sign.

Most of the time open beta's are for stress testing. A stage where *ideally* most of the important stuff and balance and everything is already worked out. Assuming this will happen one to two months before release *tops* I'd find it worrying if they still had to test particular parts of their game over the whole thing since *every* part influences the game as a whole and with each part that changes, the whole changes.

So if we don't get to see that whole during the stress test, and they did input changes due to testing parts, then that new whole simply *never* got tested before release.

Now go bother someone else with your ridiculous comments if you can't take a post for what it says rather than what you want to think it says.
