I was on Dathomir. I had ground long and hard to complete my template which was MLS, MDEF, MEnh XXX2, MHeal XXX2 (I think - it was certainly a variation on the normal MDEF make-up). I did not wear jedi robes but a bright red jumpsuit and white straw hat and golves. I also had red goggles. My pearls and crystals were good, some were very good indeed, but my saber was certainly not on the level of some of the hardcore Jedi. I was halfway through the Jedi Knight trials which I would never complete since the NGE was implemented a week or so after this incident.
I had come to the Dark Jungle planet to kill Nightsisters. There was one type, was it Elders?, that dropped premium crystals. By now, I was, by my own standards, so tough that i could pretty much take on all but the most prepped bounty hunter so I had no fears about the large, black and gold AV 21 I was driving.
That car was, to me, the Roills-Royce of SWG;s vehicles. Not as fast as as the Barc obviously or with the turning speed of the much underestimated AB1 but it was the luxury car of choice for me. It had taken me a long, long time to fight my way through the Corellian Corvette to get the parts and the schematic for that baby, I can tell you. True, by that time, you could buy them ready made from speciality vendors for a million or so credits but i was never very rich.
I was just leaving the Science Outpost when, just over the hill, really, when I saw the flash of enegery weapons and that unmistakable crackle of a force attack. I pointed my car towards the action and saw, to my amazement, a tiny Bothan running hell for leather from a series of shadowy figures. Specifically, a about four or five Nightsister Protectors.
The running Bothan was dressed in cloth and his HAM bar was down to about 25%. How he had escaped being one blow incapped I do not know. His designation was something like 'Trader'. He was, by god, firing a CDEF carbine behind him. The grils were about fifty yards behind him and closing steadily.
"HEP ME PLZ"
So, I got out of the car, cranked up my double-bladed red lightsaber and got to work. Be cause most of my attacks were on macro, I was able to talk to the Bothan. He had just signed up to the game, a free acount donated by his brother. He was 12 and lived in Decatur in the US. He had decided he would earn his money by farming energy. He had built three personal wind farm, the tiny ones, and had come to Dathomir, a planet he choise at random, to place them and make his fortune.
I was down to the last Protector or Ranger when he suddenly said; 'I WILL HEP U'. And started blazing away with his Carbine. Instantly, the Nightsister turned round and unleashed a line of force lightning towards him.
I just managed to type; "Get away from the..."
F-TOOM!
"...Speeder"
Too late, the AV21 was destroyed. And in those days when an AV21 was smashed it was smashed for good.
'OH LUK. SHE HAV BROKE YOUR CAR" was the noob Bothan's comment.
Now, here is where I really felt that I attained the status of Jedi. Rather thann screaming at him 'You bloody noob, by aggroing her, you wrecked my beautiful million credit car!" or jamming my lightsaber up his behind, I simply said: 'Yes. Pity" and then escorted him safely back to the Science Outpots. I might even have given him 1000 credits to help him on his way. There was nothing else to be done and so I might as well do it gracefully.

Killing a 4 man Bounty Hunter Gank Squad who jumped me as I was loading into the MOP on DANT.
He he, I could never win if there were more than three but, by the end, I could handle two, even if they were pretty good and well-equipped. In one glorious incident, I was with my Guild attacking rebs in Anchorhead when, out of the blue, a pair of BHs attacked me - they must have been stalking me for a while and chosen a moment for their attack when they thought I might be distracted. I made short work of them both, killing the last one with a saber throw as he tried to flee up the hill behind the Shuttle Port. And all the while my Guild was cheering me on offering suggestions. Good times. All gone now.

Hehe...Two words...Divide and Conquer
I felt I was a Jedi when I took down 3 bounty Hunters at once pre-NGE.
I felt I was a Jedi when I killed 5 rebels in the streets of Thead!
When the NGE came I felt like quiting and a I did.

I felt like a jedi the 1st time I powered up my training saber (pre-cu). I felt even more like a jedi when i was queing for buffs in the mining outpost. Dressed in normal clothes . Nobody knew i was a padawan just yet as I wasnt ready for bh's at the time. The only people that knew were of course guildies and friends.
I felt like a jedi when i was out grinding some quenkers or woteva and suddenly a speeder approaced on my radar...unequipping anything that resembled Jedi and putting on some old comp armour. Id just stand there. The player would come closer. No doubt they saw something flashey up ahead.
I felt like a Jedi. The CU hit and i wasnt happy. I quit 2 weeks into it but went back. I actually wanted to kill someone when the NGE hit. I was a passionate player. SWG was more then a game. It was a dream come true. It was the closest I could come to being in the Star Wars Universe.
Very close to how my time went. When i finally became a paddy and the SW music started playing. The feeling of an accomplishment. The next time was when i finally finished grinding my tempt. It all went to shit when about 2 weeks before the cu and i had been playing my alt much more, trying to take a break form the jedi scene and was gonna join the frs to suddenly SOE shutting it down.
Boy, some great stories. You wonder why they so screwed with this game.
Why is it that, as a culture, we are more comfortable seeing two men holding guns than holding hands? ~Ernest Gaines
I felt the most like a Jedi while playing KOTOR. Which was the reason I originally canceled my sub to SWG. I never unlocked the original Jedi and the new version doesn't feel like a Jedi at all (at least at low levels).
I am of the opinion that Jedi never should have been introduced into SWG, it caused way too many problems and there was plenty to fix in the game already. IMO SWG was the great game that amost was. The basic rules and mechanics were a great idea but the developers never seemed to know what to do with it. I wonder what a great game it would have been if they hadn't used the SWG liscense and had instead made it a generic space game. Then they wouldn't have felt compelled to put some of the broken classes into the game and instead could have focused on what made the game great instead of trying to make it a great SW game. The new system is more like DnD with lightsabers and very boring. Easy to write content for but very boring.
Of course the answer is that I felt most like a Jedi prior to the CU or the NGE. I was messing around with players and gained visibility prior to the CU, before my template was complete. It was a pretty big penalty back then. I was tackled by three DC bounty hunters in my own home city on Lok. It was over so very fast, but the adrenaline was amazing.
Later, after the CU, I was hunted many times. I had so much fun each time because there was risk involved. I always liked to keep my XP maxed, in case I decided to change my template a bit. I kept the line of healer that allowed me to heal wounds for other players. This was because I was a doctor prior to unlocking and thought this would only be right.
I can remember the handful of successful bounty hunters. They were all outstanding at what they did. I was not an easy target. I think that the most surprising one was Dallow in my later home town on Tatooine. He had used cover to sneak into our base compound. He used his rifle, just after a practice duel and make quick money. Back then, the reward of $226k or so was pretty massive, and he collected. He was very good at his job, but after that, I did watch the radar a lot closer.
The adrenalin high from those hunts made me intoxicated. I miss that feeling so bad. It is a terrible shame what they have done to the game, chasing a mythical audience. All of those flashes and particle effects finally made me give the game up. Even now, when I think about it, I could not play it anymore. It simply is an inferior product at a premium price. It does not add up and I will not be taken advantage of because I like Star Wars.

The adrenaline rush was by far the best as a Jedi compared to any game I have played to date! I can remember a few times that the rush was so bad I couldnt hit my keys fast enough because my hands were shaking, was freakin great.
It wasnt easy back in the beginning for jedi and thats what I loved the most, we had to solo, no one could know we were Jedi or we were constantly hunted with huge losses at stake. I would say my most memerable BH fight was with a guy who's name I cannot remember. I had just left Dantooine outpost and was standing by a lone house out in middle of nowhere, no saber in hand and just plain old clothes when this guy comes out of nowhere.
I watched him come up to me with weapon in hand not really sure yet if he was hunting me or not as he didnt have his title up. We stared at each other for a while, finally he say's, "you ready?" shocked by this at first I decided to role play the situation. This was the best and most rememberal moment in my Jedi life! It was exilerating to say the least, out of respect for the way it all played out I allowed him the first 2 shots before I began my offensive. The battle lasted a good 5 min, was the best time I ever had in a fight and when it was all said and done, we both had made a friend and respect of one another more then could ever be imagined.
The community in SWG was something to experiance back in the day, the game was perfect when it came to making a community, such a sad thing to see it lost forever.
Out of every 100 men, 10 should not be there,
80 are nothing but targets, 9 are the real fighters.
Ah, but one, ONE of them is a warrior,
and he will bring the others home.

Building up my Jedi deep in the corners of endor. Taking on huge swarms of enemies. I always had a swoop out and ready. As soon as I saw a blue arrow on my radar I Knew I had been had, I jumped on swoop and high-tailed it to the middle of a lake, there like a patient jedi I waited. I got bit a few times...once by someone who tricked me, I forgot how they did it but they made it worse by saying stuff like I'm sorry I shouldn't have lied to you but I did, like salt on my wounds.
Alas, I unlocked during the CU period.
So some experiences that TRUE elder Jedi had I can never experience.
But I can tell you that every time a blue or purple dot got near me when I was in my paddy robes grinding my pulse would quicken, because that dot might be coming for me.
CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.
Once a denizen of Ahazi
Jedi ruined the game so I hate everyone who unlocked because thats the point I was like I quit this game. Ruined the lore and instead of playing the game everyone just went to unlock and the economy got destroid and EVERY patch after was a fix for Jedi and they left everything else in the dark.

Talking about SWG much?
To be frank, the NGE was targeted specifically on you.

Aaaah, witch hunting. That was another fun thing I used to do with my Jedi. And every now and then a Nightsister Elder would cough up a premium crystal.
The number one annoying thing (for me) in the end of pre cu, I recall, being the number of jedi. To see a jedi once or twice a week was so cool, but when you started to find them in groups every time, everywhere, it felt like a star wars parody.
Think if they had done a "aurellia" for imperials and rebels when they did it for jedi? The same system with phases, unlocks and quests (for rank and special faction items). Think about the phase when sith´s attacking aurellia. You could do the the same thing for a rebel "aurellia", with stormtroopers and at-st´s attacking the rebel base, and for imperials it could have been the reversed (attacking the rebel base and kill the scum and destroy their turrets). This could have been an option for players to go for something else than jedi.
Well, i guess it doesnt matter anymore anyway.
When you didnt need a group .........
When I cut off Samuel L. Jackson's hand and kicked him out of a window.
Seriously though, I don't really know. One of my last great memories of SWG was on Lok, a BH/Rifles guildie of mine and I were farming GDK's, I had all the other ingredients for RIS armor for my alt. It wasn't that it was that exciting or difficult or anything, but it was fun. He'd sit on top of a hill, pop one of them from long range and then I'd go tear-assing at it saber blazing. Ended up gathering enough for both of us, then we just sat on top of the hill chit-chatting for like an hour. That's what really made the game for me, the community.
Had my share of BH fights, always liked to throw on my skirt and swoop helm for those. Ran the DWB, got banned from plenty of Imperial guild cities for bombing their bases, built up a decent saber and had a blast. But I still remember killing those GDK's with the BH, took a bunch of screenies, some of the few I had ever taken while playing. Was about 2 1/2 weeks later when NGE rolled out, I gave that guildie the rest of my RIS ingredients, said goodbye and never logged back on. I had an awesome guild hall for a house too.
my characters name was newmoon, and I played on the Chilastra Server. the time I most felt like a Jedi was when i was about halfway through my Knight Trials, and I was out hunting for crystals for my lightsaber. I was in some starport or other getting a Buff when a player I had never met before, began talking to me. we chit chatted about a number of things, nothing worth noting, or remembering. I grabbed my buffs and headed out to finish Leveling, I want to say Dathomir. As Soon as my Buffs wore off I heard that Fateful battle Music, and it was the same character that I had been talking to earlier, except this time it was Master Bounty Hunter. I tried to Run to my speeder, but he was a pro he took that out first. I then tried my force run, but Blam I was on the ground, and he was closing fast, I hotkeyed my Spices, and tried like Hell to get away. Needless to say this guy was an assassin, and trained well. He made short work of me, gave me a /kowtow and moved on. He stated that he had been hunting me since the Starport, and asked the doc how long the buffs he gave lasted, then waited until they ran out to attack. I was completely Impressed, and told him great work, I wish more were like you, and may the force be with you.
There was no griefing, no cuss words, just a Bounty hunter doing what a bounty hunter did best, Hunt his Mark, and dispose of him for credits. what a game!!!
I never had a Jedi but I remember when I first started playing they were still pretty rare. If two of them were dueling somewhere or an BH and Jedi were going at it, crowds would gather. The animations were really good back then so it really did look like a scene out of the movies. It was really cool.
Now there's...particles. Lots and lots of particles.
I opened my jedi slot, but never got to enjoy it.
I mastered 28-29(?) of the 33 some odd professions before that miserable "village" storyline came out. I was so pissed off I quit the game in disgust. It sucks hard that after hours and hours and hours of doing jobs I hate noobs would have a nice straight line to follow. (Only later did I learn that Sony was changing the number of professions you had to master. I guessed it was happening, but...)
So I went to the crappy game WoW and played it for about 2 months. Got sick of it and went back to SWG to complete the stupid, innane "village" storyline (which made me want to throw up.) After all the whining about the storyline remaining true, why would there be a "village" of force sensitive types on Dathomir? Wouldn't the Empire just orbital bomb them?
Anyway - I opened the jedi and began the LONG TEDIOUS process of grinding him to a level where he might actually survive. I worked at it for probably 4 months only getting a handful of boxes.
One day (sick of the grind and wanting to actually play the game) I went out with some guildies in to Death Watch Bunker. Well I built up a TON of visibility, got killed while in there and fortunately had a medic revive me. I told them it was too tough and left to go get more levels.
No sooner than I stepped outside I was one shot killed by a Bounty Hunter.
Pissed me off and disgusted me. After all the hours of playing all I had to show was carpel tunnel. I couldn't even defend myself against one guy after mountains of hours of playing and grinding.
That was the last time I "played" the game.
To be frank, the NGE was targeted specifically on you.
no the NGE was targeted on people who thought reaching jedi was "to hard". What is this a witch hunt?
Lol getting Jedi wasn't hard at all it just took ages of tedious grinding and frigging EVERYONE had a Jedi before the NGE and people were acting like it would actually make a difference giving us Jedi from the start. The game would have been sooo much better without them and think of all the patches that were dedicated to Jedi which could have fixed another class or put caps on armor/buffs and added new content.
People look back now and like can tell me all this shit about what ruined the game but they were the esact ones who at the time wanted all this game breaking crap and you people make me SICK! I remember wanting TEF to stay and EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE wanted it to go and so it went and then afterwards people jumped on the bandwagon of omg taking TEF out ruined the game.
I reckon some people just do it because it makes them feel more elite to all their friends. This is why I hate online games because the community don't know whats good for the game and will whine until they make something easier to get cause apparently having a item in game without a challenge is what people want these days.
