Ok let me just say that I am looking forward to both games in the thread title. However I do think people go on about the lack of video footage in Darkfall but just across the pond Stargate which has a large following has not released much besides a one minute clip. Granted there are video podcasts but before we start slamming any MMO about lack of in-game footage we should really compare it to every other game in development.
I am happy to stand corrected if someone can point me in the right direction for Stargate footage.

How long has darkfall been in development? How long has Stargate been in development? Then go sit in a corner and think about it for a bit.
Btw I dont care about either game, but your topic is retarded.
The big difference is the amount of fanbois following Darkfall that are seriously and sadly convinced that DF will actually ever be released.

Stargate as far as I can tell has been in development for 2 years but you are looking at a big name title with large backing vs an indy title with a small team. Do the maths.
This isn't a Stargate World vs Darkfall thread, its just highlighting how a game can get bashed when the competitors aren't that much better.
Yes, it's amazing how a myth perpetuates itself.....

Exactly, SGW hasn't been in development for even 1/10 of the time Darkfall supposedly has.
SGW devs constantly keep the fans informed of what is going on.
SGW already has closed beta signups ongoing.
SGW already has solid amounts of varying material they have shown, DF shows the same material repeatedly and has been criticised numerous times for showing the same player vs player videos over and over in a vain attempt to prove something is being done.
SGW is a well known, corporate sponsored IP, in the hands of a top notch studio. DF is a niche game, with an extremely limited budget and team of virtually unknown developers in terms reputation within the industry (this is an absolute no brainer, as if they didn't have to work with such a limited budget and lack of talent, they would have already released and/or had alot more to show everyone).
The bottom line is that it has taken SGW alot less time to get to the point it is at, than it has taken DF to get to the point where it is at (which frankly, nobody other than there internal team has any idea just how far along they actually are).
Its like comparing apples to oranges.
Do the math indeed, you just answered your own question OP.
Basicly your question will be answered when Stargate Worlds is either released fall 2008 or early 2009 and Darkfall is released in 2069 ( and I could possibly be being generous by saying that)
Common sense shows you the difference between Stargate Worlds and Darkfall. One will be released the other will not. Stargate Worlds has info posted about it on a regular basis. The Darkfall devs say the same crap over and over again.
You can't say that civilization don't advance, however, for in every war they kill you in a new way.

Also I'd like to add that Stargate Worlds has just started closed beta signups. During beta gameplay footage and screenshots start to be released. If you don't see any video footage of Stargate Worlds by the time closed beta is over then your point is valid.

You need to stop these damn DF supporting threads. You are saying a 7yr dev game should have the slack that a 2-3yr dev game has. Bullshit, if Darkfall was any where they said it was we'd be seeing full featured gameplay and hyped trailers. We have none of that, just wait you will be proven wrong once again. Always are.

Although I agree with your post, you seem to be chryses' nemesis. There's no need to start a flame war over this.
You are correct Chryses is in fact just trying to justify Darkfall's devs not giving any info about Darkfall. If he wasn't trying to do that then this thread is pointless.

Not trying to start a DF support group or flame on SGW's because I mentioned earlier I would like to play both games. The question arose because I was on SGW's website and on this site trying to find 'any' in-game footage because being a Sci-fi MMO its right down my alley.
What frustrated me is the lack of video footage of SGW's, besides a cartoonish movie clip there are only screen shots. So 'yes' DF should have something more solid out but at least I can see various beta and other clips that give an insight to what it may look like. So my question is why does one game get puked on when a lot of competitors haven't produced anything either?
However as usual a lot of people can't seem to engage and argue for or against a topic without reverting to juvenile responses.
If anyone knows of any footage of SGW's please let me know because I would like to see it.
Does someone really need to argue teh point why? Its called common sense. You can say its an Indy team or w/e you want ..... there is a huge difference either way in the amount of development put in. But it isnt like anyone is going to change your mind one way or the other right?
If this game ends up in Development for the next 7 years n still using the same screens n pics over n over I am sure you will see ppl bashing it as much as DF.
Ummmm....yeah...kthx

WTH are you talking about? SWG has had footage on national television!! Comparing a game that's been in development for a decade to a game that has been in development for 2 years, been announcen on TV, has a publisher, has the support of a tv title, is just assanine. Seriously get a clue.
And how is pointing out the differnces you ask for nothing but a juvenile response? You just don't like the answer because it points out the absurbness that is darkfall, and therefore result to calling others juvenile so you can continue to live in denile about the realities of a game you are looking forward to.
How long has Darkfallbeen in development and how long has SGW? Besides that, DF is promising alot...seems to be the perfect MMO...but where's the proof of how great it is? People are going to bash it more if it promises more and doesn't deliver much.

I think much of it comes from dissapoitment friend. while SGW is quite a new deveeopment Df has been here forever it seems. you say SGW is 2 years in dev but only the origonal concept is 2 years old really. and 2 years as we know is nothing in mmo terms. on the other hand we have DF! the beta videos etc have been around for longer than SGW whole development and never seem to improve or get anything added.
Also if you read most of what the devs tell us of each game you will notice a disturbing trend with FD, they try to tell us techinical progression and coding when we just want to how far along the game is. the devs logs go right over my head as the tend to be more detailed and more tech info than games that are here with us now. To me that's not what i want. i want to see more of the game and hear about dates etc. i am no wannabe dev so please dont presume i want to be treated like one, i'm a fan! when i go to watch my football team they just play football, they dont take me inside and show me the accounts or the managers contact lists because they treat me as a football fan.
DF devs seem to treat me like a novice develper. they may be a small team and i respect that, but my advice to them is we will be customers one day if you release. treat us like you want our custom please. lol look at soe/funcom and all the abuse they get, but lets face it thier customer support is far superior to these as they actualy keep us in the loop
Unless there are a bunch of people that you KNOW hang out in the SGW forum tha are going to the DF forum and bashing the game because of a lack of video footage then.....this thread belongs in the DF forum.
-Currently looking forward to FFXIV
-Currently playing EvE and Global Agenda
Here's the thing about Darkfall that players don't seem to want to understand:
A game of that magnitude is going to be in development for a long time before its released. First of all, all the game features that are planned are going to take a long time to code. They say players can craft ANYTHING in the game, that's a lot of stuff man. Secondly, with all the game features, there will need to be a lot more bug testing, which just adds to the development time.
Now I might add that it was a mistake on the devs part to list all of the game features they are planning and release it to the public. That should never be done unless you are very very close to the release date. Because this is exactly what happens: Players wonder what the fuck is going on with the game and why its not finished all the way up until its release.
Either way, patience is a virtue. Just remember that most, if not all of the great MMORPG's usually have an extended development cycle.
And yes, I think Stargate should be open season
darkfall in production 8 years.
strgate in production 2 years.
March on! - Lets Invade Pekopon
Well Darkfall must have ALOOOOOOOT of money then, do you know how much it costs to make an MMO? And the cost only increases with time. How long will we wait, 10 years? 15? That's a little rediculous, even for a "great" MMO, don't you think?

You're comparing a game that's been in development for at least 7+ years, vs. a game that's only been in development for about 2 years!???!
Rediculous
Besides since when did we all become economists and developers?
I'm a gamer
I talk about games that exsist
Not make fun of games that are in development or make wild speculation.
How about everyone just chills until the games are released, and YES I do believe both will be released this year.
And you can compare apples to oranges... just to make a joke out of a saying.
Apples have a thin skin oranges have a thicker one, apples are red oranges are orange.
I could go on, but the point I hope at least is taken.
SGW fans are acting like its a huge insult to be compared to a game thats been in development 4 times longer. (not 10x's as some person earlier stated)
Did you make the game?
Are you making the game?
Stop taking personal offense!
Well..If SG-W's goes for 14 years and doesn't even have a video,Fell free to bash it all you like.Darkfall has been in production in one means or another for almost that long..The term Vaporware could almose be said to have been coined for it..
What the hell? Since when do great games have no gameplay footage after being in development for 7 years. People have been patient enough. If I can wait over 5 years for a game how can you call me impatient. Am I only patient if I wait 10 years?
MMORPGs take a long time to develop, but not that long my friend.
